www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/37894403/reds-winning-streak-11-games-fraley-hr-downs-rockiesThis is their longest win streak in 66 years. I wonder how much Ken Griffey Jr is having an effect on this win streak. No, he has not come back to MLB. He is still retired. He is still also on the Reds payroll. In fact, he might be one of the highest paid players on the team. He will make $3.59 million which baring a trade makes him the 4th highest paid player on the Reds.

Griffey's deal with the Reds sounds similar to Bobby Bonilla's deal with the Mets.

I have actually made some money (nothing big, $10 on a 1 bet for about a $20 payout and $20 on 1 bet for about a $40 payout) on the Reds winning streak (I won by betting the Reds on my birthday last week when I was at the Red Rock to go to the casino's new oyster bar and I won by betting the Reds on Monday/Juneteenth when I was at the Suncoast to see the new Transformers movie.)
Ken Griffey Jr. was a Red for awhile and he might still be getting a deferred payroll situation there but he got immortalized (and rightfully so) by being inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of my Seattle Mariners.
a couple of MLB side notes:
1) my team is the Seattle Mariners (I grew up in Seattle before moving to Las Vegas in 1999) but it looks like I am getting a 2nd MLB team with the Oakland As (but at 19-57 the As right now are playing more like the Fs) apparently moving here to Las Vegas
2) I will be going to my first MLB game of 2023 (and probably my last MLB game of 2023) next week when I visit my parents in Seattle as we have tickets for next Monday's Nationals vs Mariners game, Luis Castillo is currently scheduled to pitch for my Mariners.

I always liked Griffey too bad he never had a team around him

I also went and saw a Pirates/Reds series earlier this year. Pirates were in first, Reds were in last. Looks like that changed lol … probably those girls my wife accidentally allowed up to the players level in our hotel (we found out the reds were staying there as well. Top two floors got our own buffet, think we saw some reds but don’t know their team well enough to spot them)

I always liked Griffey too bad he never had a team around him ? the 1995 Seattle Mariners say hello In addition to saving baseball in Seattle by getting Safeco Field built, the 1995 Seattle Mariners eliminated the New York Yankees in the playoffs before finally falling to the Cleveland Indians in 6 games in the AL Championship Series. In addition to Ken Griffey Jr., those Mariners included two other future Hall of Famers in Edgar Martinez and Randy Johnson. Alex Rodriguez was also on that team as was Jay Buhner, Tino Martinez, Dan Wilson, Joey Cora, Vince Coleman, Andy Benes, Tim Belcher, Norm Charlton, and Chris Bosio. I agree that Griffey was also on some very bad Mariners teams and on some bad Reds teams. But he was also on some very good Mariners teams in the mid 1990s which the playoffs multiple times and which for awhile as a road team actually drew more fans than either the Yankees or the Red Sox in the American League.

Hmm, if you don’t get a ring was the team successful? Probably not a fair way to judge someone. I forgot about that team, so many games in baseball lol. I always hoped he would have gotten a ring.

Griffey was definitely one of the most important figures in Seattle sports history. Once my new Canadian passport arrives I may have to head across the border to catch a game. Enjoy your trip next week. Hopefully the Mariners win.🤞

Griffey's deal with the Reds sounds similar to Bobby Bonilla's deal with the Mets. You would be correct sir. He signed a big contract with the Reds and a lot of the money has been deferred. I mean he last played for the Red in 08 and in MLB in 10. I find it funny not only in how long after he is still getting paid and the amount, I think Bobby's was much less, but the fact that since the Reds payroll is so low he is so high on it.

Reds payroll right now is 83 million and that doesn’t include Griffey since that deferred. It’s Griffey last year of deferred money. The reds are young and fun to watch. They play fast. Ely Del La Cruz is going to be a superstar and Matt McClain is pretty good too.Pretty exciting
