They'll obviously be the main characters, but in the original cards there weren't many challenges for that Omega card. Even Star Warrior and Thantos had people like Matador and Chaos to give them trouble. I'm interested in seeing these characters with today's design philosophy. Unless it's just new art to make them more available for people, in which case, what do I know? Playing the EC era fully in that era (‘74 to ‘75) Omega and Morpheus were challenged most by Torin Caelum, K.O. Keller (prime stats) and Screw. Caelum was my first champ, and Keller had, for a long time the longest reign in my Classics era GWF.

I thought I heard them say the set would be titled Early Classics 2074. If that is the case, Omega and Morpheus would have to be new cards since they appeared in the Classics 2079 set and in Early Classics as 2082 (Morpheus) and 2083 (Omega). If indeed they are creating a set just for 2074, that would leave one more open spot for a new character, since the Classics 2074 had 8 cards and Early Classics only listed 9 characters as 2074. They said the set was planned for 20 cards. The first years had 19 wrestlers from the following sets: Classics 2074 Torin Caelum Commander Sam Torpor Santon The Loner The Crosscurrents Bullwhip Blacklash Classics 2079 Omega Of Cetus Morpheus Early Classics Screw Ricken Prince K.O. Keller Solar Flare Moonstrike Jammer Blood Trotarus Cordsar That leaves one card who may be new.

Maybe a bonus Jack Hood card? Pulling out the Early Classics book and it looks like the lineup would be: Blacklash, Blood, Bullwhip, Commander Sam, Cordsar, Jammer, K.O. Keller, Moonstrike, Morpheus, Omega, Ricken Prince, Santon, Screw, Solar Flare, Thetis, Torpor, Torin Caelum, Trotarus, and Vortex. I'd add K.O. Keller to the list of top guys.

And malicelover just beat my post of the cards were getting. Have to be faster next time.
For me Keller would win the title but immediately lose it. He's a 4x champion, but never had a great run. On the other hand Omega held it for a year and a half while Hechilles had it almost nonstop for two years.

He got beat by KO Keller one of the two times they faced off but that was it. Morpheus was the only one to give Omega singles trouble when I played it, and it wasn't much. My dice just loved him.

If I had to guess, they'll treat this set like the other color redo sets. They'll tweak the stats just enough to be "legal". I wish they'd give Morpheus' stats a boost. Omega absolutely dominated him back in the day. It wasn't even close.
20 cards? What would you guess is going to be the price point for this?

Yeah, in my EC days, Omega thoroughly dominated Morpheus (KO Keller did as well)

Yeah, in my EC days, Omega thoroughly dominated Morpheus (KO Keller did as well) Which, I wouldn't have had as much issue with, if Tom had written it differently, but as I remember it, Morpheus was supposed to be Omega's equal and paraphrasing "some say Morpheus was even better". That's not how it worked out for me, lol. I had to scrap a pretty major angle I had in the works (A Kronos angle) at the time because the matchup was so one sided in Omega's favor. I, for one, would like to see that gap closed. Swarm has an excellent Hades card (Morpheus for Kronos) which does exactly that, and now I'm in the early stages of that very angle on Kronos (25-30 years in the making, lol) as we speak. having said all that, this obviously is a must buy, for me.

I am loving the sound of this. Does anyone have a pic of the previewed Ricken Prince card? My only concern is, having already played the 2074-86 era in my fed using all the classics sets along with Mike's EC classics, that lots of new guys don't spring up. Don't get me wrong I love new cards/characters but trying to feature prominent new guys into my already written history would be a headache.

20th characters I believe is going to be new.
I'm hoping for some changes as otherwise it would just have been as easy to recolor Early Classics and the 74-86 Classics sets without going to this much trouble.
