VHS - Video Home System tape cassette that was all the rage in 1980/90s Oh I know, but found it strange. That was rendered obsolete here in the US over 10 years ago. I found it odd they were still making them anywhere else.

I think I am going to hobble my way to the theater tomorrow to finally see this movie.
I am still struggling to get around with this foot, but tonight the pharmacy which has my insurance is supposed to get my prescribed medicine in stock. And the theater at the casino is right next to the sporsbook and I want to bet on Thursday's NFL game (taking the Browns and the points over the Jets) and make my weekly NFL bets for this weekend. I'm OK to drive and I'm OK to sit down so I just need to make it from the parking garage to the theater and that short distance includes first an eleavtor and then an escalator so I should be able to make it tomorrow.

I saw it this morning and it was pretty good. The actor that played Kerry looked like him IMO but he even looked like Kenny Omega to me. I felt they could have filled in more story but still a good job. That Rick Flare character seemed interesting. Seriously the actor who played Ric should have hung out with Jay Lethal to get the speech pattern down.

Was planning on seeing this today only to find out that the movie theatre just down the street from my place wasn’t showing it.🤬 I didn’t feel like driving two towns over to the next nearest cinema so I gave it a pass for today.
I’ll be in downtown Vancouver next Tuesday for the Canucks-Senators game and the theatre down by Rogers Arena is playing it so I’ll likely catch an afternoon show before heading to the game. Might stop off at the Aussie restaurant I like and have some lunch beforehand too.

Today I spent almost the entire day at the casino's movie theater as the reclining theater seats there are a good way for me to rest my hurt foot and keep it elevated for a number of hours. Today I watched 3 movies: The Iron Claw, Ferrari, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom while also placing my weekly bets on the NFL for this weekend's games. I did win by taking the Browns tonight (I mentioned that was my plan earlier in this thread) so I basically saw 1 movie for free today but I would have seen another basically for free too if I had made it to the sportbook in time to take Boston College and the points (Boston College won outright against SMU who is without their injured QB.)
I thought the Iron Claw was really good. IMO the actor who played Kevin Von Erich did a great job. If I lived in the Dallas area during the 1980s I definitley would have been a regular at World Class at the Sportatorium. I see alot of movies (often 1 a week in the Fall when I go next door to the sportsbook in the same casino to make my weekly NFL bets) and this was one of my favorite movies of 2023.
Some brief notes on the other two movies I saw today. Ferrari was good, but not as good as The Iron Claw nor as good as Ford vs Ferari from a few years ago. I think Ferrari got released earlier in Italy as I saw it was playing in the theaters there last week but I waited to see it here as I did not want to deal with the subtitles. Penelope Cruz in particular is very good. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was disappointing. I liked the previous Aquaman and I also liked this year's Flash and Blue Beetle movies but this movie was one of the worst DCEU movies IMO.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was disappointing. I liked the previous Aquaman and I also liked this year's Flash and Blue Beetle movies but this movie was one of the worst DCEU movies IMO. My nephew and I liked Aquaman, I wish they pushed the envelope a little more with the adaptation of the story they were basing the movie on. My biggest complaint about these "The world will end if the villain's plan goes off" superhero movies is that the hero never once calls their teammates. A quick fly around the planet by Superman or even the Flash running around the planet would have found the island a lot sooner than Aquaman did. What truly hurt the recent DC Movies was James Gunn coming out and saying he was going to reboot the entire DCEU following this slate of movies. These movies quite literally became "It won't matter if you see them because we will never follow up on them." I do hope your foot feel better Zeke, and glad you enjoyed the Iron Claw.

A good point about calling for help. The only way I see it explained is they have made Aquaman kind of a loner. Thus, he was trying to do it on his own. Not having seen the movie yet not sure if that would seem plausible. What they should have done, as Marvel has done in movies to explain the absence of the more powerful Avengers, is state they are off world and/or busy with other emergencies. A couple lines can quickly fix an issue like that.

Went to see the movie last night after my son picked it out. Mind you my son isnt a fan but the WWE 2k23 game has gotten him more interested than he was. So just my luck right? Just my luck is right because my son got sick 40 minutes into the movie and we had to leave.
I did however get to see a glimpse of the Fritz Von Erich I learned so much about on the Lapsed Fan podcast. The Lapsed Fan podcast did an amazing job documenting what happened with the Von Erich family and WCCW. I recommend anyone interested in the story to look at their series on the lamentable tragedy of World Class. Warning TLF is a long podcast. Some of the episodes are the story of what was going on behind the scenes and other episodes are covering what was going on in the ring.

My take away from the movie is Fritz has a huge ego, most wrestlers do, and unfulfilled goals that he pushed his sons to accomplish. He was the type to do things without thinking of how it effected others let alone asking their opinion. No Dad of the Year for sure but not as horrible a monster as other dads. Or moms for that matter as we are reminded of thanks to the recent news story about Gypsy Rose being released from prison. Her mom was a real piece of work.
