The Crime Stoppers: Speggtacular 4-issue mini-series

Issue #1: Who Laid an Egg?


The Crime Stoppers return to their Command Center and are in a joyful mood.


Speedster: That puts an end to The Masked Men Gang and their crime spree.

Cosmic Woman: Yes, how lucky for us that they were so vain that the masks they made to wear to hide their identity were masks of their own faces.

Blue Dazzler: (laughs) For sure. What a lucky break for us. If only all criminals were as dumb as them.


Speedster turns on the TV and there is a breaking news story. It seems the gigantic rooster at the City Zoo has mysteriously laid an egg. The zoo did not know he was pregnant mostly because he is a he. Some of the staff have said they do not believe it is the rooster's egg beyond the fact he is a rooster. They say it appears to look more like that of an egg of a reptile of some kind. If so, where did it come from? Who placed it there? All that is known is the rooster has been sitting on the egg and when anyone gets too close while trying to examine the egg the rooster gets territorial and chases them off.


Blue Dazzler: Well, how about that? A rooster lays an egg. What is the world coming to?

Sunman: I do not know but I wish I did. Something seems very off about this. More than the obvious. I have an uneven feeling about all of this.


The other members of The Crime Stoppers look at him.


Speedster: Um, isn't Buster a reptile?

Cosmic Woman: True but he is hundreds of miles away at the work camp we sent him to so he could do community service for working with Skull.

Sunman: Yes, but I think I will go check in on him and check with the officials running the camp to make sure he has been there all the time. If so, that will clear him of this mystery, but we will still have the mystery to deal with.


With that, Sunman flies off to do his investigating. Blue Dazzler says he will go check things out at the City Zoo.


Blue Dazzler arrives at the zoo and is walking around. It is a nice sunny day and quite a few people are enjoying the day viewing the animals. Then the sounds of a commotion and a bit of panic is heard in the distance. Blue Dazzler takes off to check on it and quickly discovers it is coming from the area the giant rooster is being kept. He gets there and sees a big muscular man in a safari outfit inching his way toward the rooster who is sitting on the egg.


Blue Dazzler: OK I give. Who are you supposed to be? You do not work for the City Zoo. That is obvious.


Then a familiar voice is heard but Blue Dazzler does not know what it is coming from.


Skull: He is The Hunter. He is my replacement for The Trapper in the Killers Four. That buffoon was a one trick pony. He had his nets and not much else. He could not fight for a lick. The Hunter has nets as well but he is extremely good in fighting. In fact, why not give him an up close and personal exhibit of your fighting ability my Hunter.


Blue Dazzler vs The Hunter (Bounty Hunter)

The Hunter rushed Blue Dazzler who was ready for him and stunned The Hunter early on. The Hunter was a tough customer and soon he was in control of the fight. He used a Hunter's Claw to wear Blue Dazzler down and after a few Snap Snares the Blue Dazzler was finished.

Winner: The Hunter


Skull crackles with laughter. The Hunter stands over his conquest.


Skull: Good job my friend. I knew you would be a great addition.


The rooster lets out a cry and hops off the egg which is starting to crack. A small, reptilian like hand reaches out and pulls part of the shell inside. Then a tongue flickers out of the hole and one glowing eye is seen.




What has hatched out of the egg? Why does Skull want it so bad? Does it fit in with the prototype Skull stole? Is The Hunter the missing piece to Skull's dynasty of terror and power? By now you all know how to get these answers. See you in Issue #2 The Yokes On You.

With Bounty Hunter on his side (on loan from Reynard B. Guile, of course), Skull's army just got a whole lot more dangerous!

Fun stuff there, on_the_edge! This looks like another "must-have" series! I made sure I got the silver foil variant for issue #1!

Issue #2: The Yokes On You


After the recap of the last exciting issue, we see something making its way out of the egg. It is a small green lizard-like animal.


The Hunter: What is that? A deformed iguana?

Skull: No. That is a thing of beauty. That is a...Basilisk.


As Skull floats toward it slowly in an attempt to capture it he hears a familiar voice.


Sunman: Stand back from the creature you fiend.


Then Sunman flies in and lands between Skull and the Basilisk creature.


Skull: Oh Sunman, you are such a buzzkill. I just want a pet. They are said to be good for one's mental health and helps people live longer. Why would you try and take that away from me?

Sunman: I do not know why you want this little creature, but it is not to just be a house pet.

Skull: Enough talk. You know what to do.

Sunman: Yes, take you into custody.

Skull: I was not talking to you fool.


A net flies thru the air and lands on Sunman. Then The Hunter jumps him. Skull watches the battle intently. Meanwhile in the background the little Basilisk is not so little anymore as he is starting to grow. He is the size of a small dog now.


Sunman vs The Hunter

Sunman removes the net and then has his nose smashed with an elbow. The Hunter is really taking the fight to Sunman. It takes a while for Sunman to get his footing. Once he did, he used a Blistering Face Claw to make an opening for more follow up offense. He has The Hunter in trouble so he goes for the kill with Fire In The Sky but The Hunter rolls out of his way. It was a small but important move by The Hunter. It took a bit but The Hunter fought back. He tossed Sunman into the fencing and Sunman came off and jumped at The Hunter who rocked him with a European uppercut. Then The Hunter takes the fight out of the enclosure.

The Hunter lifts Sunman up for a suplex and falls backward leading to Sunman crashing onto a hotdog cart. He drags Sunman around the zoo, kicking and hitting him as they go. There is a table with fliers about special programs at the zoo and The Hunter slams Sunman thru the table. They fight into a building that houses penguins. There is a thick glass wall separating where zoo goers can look at the penguins and the icy area with water for the penguins to swim. The penguins are doing their own thing until The Hunter starts smashing Sunman's head into the glass. Many of the penguins stop and watch. Then The Hunter stands Sunman against the glass slams his shoulder into Sunman. As Sunman slowly slumps down onto the ground The Hunter tells him he hopes Sunman likes his Ambush! and to have a nice nap.

Winner: The Hunter


Having not bothered to follow the fight Skull has turned his attention to the Basilisk. He has grown bigger; he is the size of a smaller man. Once again, the Skull slowly approaches the Basilisk trying to capture it and once again, he is stopped by a Crime Stopper. This time it is Cosmic Woman and Speedster.


Cosmic Woman: Well, look who it is. Our good friend Skull. I see you got the better of Blue Dazzler but where is Sunman? He said he was coming here to check on things.

Skull: I think he went to check out the elephants.

Speedster: Enough of this. I got Skull. You check on Blue Dazzler and after we go find Sunman.


Speedster vs Skull

Speedster was so focused on getting his hands on Skull he targeted what he could see, the skull, and forgot the rest. Skull hit him with some heavy body blows. Because Speedster was pumped up, he did not feel them. He went back on the attack and had Skull reeling. The two men fought hard and the momentum swung from one to the other. Things really started to go Speedster's way when he caught Skull off guard with a Flash Drive. He pressed his advantage but every time it seemed he had finished Skull off the evil one refused to stay down. After some High Octane Kicks that came very close to finishing Skull off Speedster used Eye Of The Hurricane to get the job done. Skull swayed a bit before crashing to the ground.

Winner: Speedster


The youngster looked down at the defeated Skull. He got a smile and then turned to see Cosmic Woman helping Blue Dazzler to his feet. Then something flashes into his view and crashes into his two teammates. It takes Speedster a moment to realize what happened then he does. The Basilisk, now the size of a large man, had attacked his friends.




Poor Crime Stoppers, just when it seems they have things going their way things take a bad turn. How powerful is The Basilisk? Powerful enough to defeat The Crime Stoppers? If so, that could be why Skull wants him. Check out our next pulse pounding Issue to see how tough The Basilisk is and maybe find out what Skull is planning.

Issue #3: Everything He Is Cracked Up To Be


After the recap of the first two Issues things start off with a bang as Cosmic Woman faces off with The Basilisk.


Cosmic Woman vs The Basilisk

As a shook-up Cosmic Woman got to her feet, she looked at The Basilisk and he gazed at her that seemed to turn her into stone. The beast beat on her relentlessly. He dragged her around the zoo and over to the primate enclosure. He let out a loud, scary cry and holding her he jumped off the barricade and they crashed into the hard ground inside of the enclosure. It looked like both might be out of it but slowly they stirred and continued their fight.
The Basilisk kept attacking Cosmic Woman and she tried her defensive energy shield a couple times with no success. Then she was finally able to fight back. She used her Cosmic Energy Burst and elbow drops to soften the beast up. But before she could go for a finishing blow, he fought back himself. They ended up in the food court of the zoo and he put her on one of the counters. He went up, grabbed her and after a loud cry he flew off and drove them hard onto a table. It was metal but caved in quite a bit from the impact. Both of them rolled off and landed on the floor. It took a bit, but The Basilisk got to his feet while Cosmic Woman just laid there. She was unconscious. He sniffed at her, nudged her with his foot and after she did not stir, he walked off.

Winner: The Basilisk


During the fight Speedster was trying to figure out how to tie up Skull when a net covers him. It is The Hunter. He tightens the net and Speedster is secured and struggling to get free. Blue Dazzler is still groggy from his earlier fight and being run over by The Basilisk, but he prepares to fight The Hunter once again.


Blue Dazzler vs The Hunter

Dazzler was fired up as he wanted to show The Hunter who the better man was. He had The Hunter back on his feet and used his Optic Blinder, but it was not enough to finish The Hunter off. Soon the newest member of Killer's Four battles back. The fight moves to The Hunter tossing Blue Dazzler into a kiosk that sells stuffed toys. It sends stuffed lions, tigers, monkeys, elephants and dolphins flying everywhere. As Dazzler got to his feet The Hunter used Ambush! on him. Dazzler was hurt but he still had fight in him. After some more fighting a second Ambush! flattened Blue Dazzler. It knocked the air out of him and left him defeated once again.

Winner: The Hunter


With the fight over The Hunter snagged Blue Dazzler in a net. By now Skull had recovered and told The Hunter to go collect Cosmic Woman. After a bit The Hunter returned with her in a net. The Hunter placed her next to Blue Dazzler and Speedster.


Skull: Look at this. How glorious. Three of the four Crime Stoppers in a net at my feet. The Hunter was truly a great addition to my team. Now I just need to add Sunman to my collection. But first, I need to find where The Basilisk has snuck off to.


As if on cue The Basilisk comes back to an area he is familiar with. He cautiously looks at Skull and The Hunter. Skull is about to instruct The Hunter how they will go about capturing the beast when Sunman flies over and lands by his teammates.


Skull: Ah the gang is all here. I must have been a good boy to have things fall into place so nicely. Time to finish this dance so I can focus on much more important things.




The Crime Stoppers sure find themselves in a tough spot. Three are in nets and Sunman is outnumbered two to one. Maybe three to one if The Basilisk joins Skull's side in the fight. This will be a hard egg to crack. Can Sunman come out on top? Is this the last waltz for The Crime Stoppers as Skull has mentioned? What is this more important thing that Skull is talking about? If you want the answers, you should see a psychic. That or you can just read the next issue. It will be the final in this 4-issue adventure.

Sorry I missed issue #2, I will have to check the comic book shop to see if they still have the back issue...

#3 though, that's the stuff!

The Heroes in peril! The Villain on the cusp of overall victory! Oh it doesn't get better than this!

I'm sitting outside the comic book store just WAITING for the final issue!

Thanks for the nice post. Just a heads up, the Limited Edition one shot will come out next week. Just in time for that big comic reading holiday, Thanksgiving.
