I was thinking about going to see this movie today until I saw it was directed by Eli Roth. While I'm a horror movie buff I have difficulty sitting through torture scenes which Roth is notorious for; I nearly had to walk out of Hostel.
Reading through the violence section of the IMDB Parents Guide there appears to be several torture scenes in this film too so I think I'll give this one a pass.
Tonight after watching MLW's Kings of Colosseum, I worked on some Indie Cycle 1 material (I got a rough rough draft done of a card I have been working on the past few days) and then watched this movie on streaming.
Surprisingly (and thankfully) there were not many torture scenes in this movie as that stuff was seemingly downplayed for albeit gruesome but nevertheless quick deaths (I would say only one of the deaths was torture.) Based on what Eli Roth did in his two Hostel movies and in the cannibal movie Green Inferno, I thought there might be more torture-related deaths but thankfully there was not as I am not a fan of that either.
Overall I thought this movie was good. Some of the people I expected to die managed to survive but I think some of those characters will not survive the reported movie sequel which was set up at the end. I correctly suspected but admittedly did not know for sure who the killer was until the reveal in the final minutes.
I watched this movie with my kitten Ahsoka and the cat from 2019's Pet Sematary- who I remember thinking did an incredible job in that movie- is also part of this movie too.
Now they just need to do movies for "Don't" and "Werewolf Women of the SS" and all of the fake trailers from 2007's Grindhouse double feature movie will have been made into actual movies.
