Born on June 19, 1929, in Oakland, California, Ferrarese's career in baseball was marked by his tenacity and skill on the mound. Ferrarese began his professional career in 1948 with the Philadelphia Phillies' organization and made his MLB debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 1955. Over his career, he played for the Orioles, Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, and St. Louis Cardinals. Known for his left-handed pitching, Ferrarese struck out 350 batters and maintained a 4.00 ERA over 506 innings. One of his career highlights was striking out the legendary Mickey Mantle.

I saw that John Robinson who in addition to coaching the Los Angeles Rams and USC, was the had football coach at UNLV when I enrolled there in garduate school in 1999, has passed away as announced today by the Rams. RIP

George A. Lehmann, a former professional basketball player known for his remarkable shooting skills and contributions to the sport, passed away at the age of 83. Born on May 1, 1941, in Riverside, New Jersey, Lehmann's talent for basketball became evident early in his life. Lehmann's professional career began in the NBA and then the American Basketball Association, where he played for teams such as the Carolina Cougars and the Memphis Pros. Known for his exceptional shooting ability, he set several ABA records that still stand today. After his playing days, Lehmann dedicated himself to teaching basketball fundamentals and shooting skills to young athletes across the United States, running camps and clinics for over two decades. Born on September 25, 1951, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Simmons' professional hockey career spanned from 1971 to 1976, during which he played for the California Golden Seals and the Boston Bruins. Simmons' journey in hockey began with the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Canada Hockey League, where he showcased his talent and passion for the game. He was drafted 85th overall by the California Golden Seals in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft. Throughout his career, Simmons played in various leagues, including the International Hockey League and the American Hockey League, making significant contributions to each team he joined. Simmons played eleven games in the National Hockey League for the California Golden Seals and Boston Bruins between 1972 and 1975. After retiring from professional hockey, Simmons continued to play in men's leagues for decades, forming lasting friendships with his teammates. He was also an avid golfer, spending many days on the course and working as a starter at Muirfield Village Golf Course in his retirement.
