I am home now from California after attending this West Coast Pro/Championship Wrestling show in Irvine.
I picked up my friend after he got off work early today about 1:30 and we drove to California. On a side note, on the way there, I made the mistake of going to KFC at the gas station food court in Baker. I ordered something called a Chizza which is fried chicken with mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, and pepperoni on top. But it was nasty and messy (the toppings were loose) and it makes your hands greasy as you are holding hot fried chicken as the base. I like pizza and I thought this sounded good, but I don't recommend eating a Chizza.
One thing I liked about the trip to Irvine is that it is closer than Los Angeles as it is more in the direction of San Diego, it is about 30 minutes closer which means an hour saved round trip.
The Improv in Irvine is located inside a nice shopping mall. As we were looking around trying to find the venue, my friend saw somebody he knew behind us and it was a women wrestler (but not one of the women wrestlers on tonight's show, she was instead going to the show to sit in the crowd in support of somebody on the show) I have wanted in the game for awhile. After she showed us where the venue was, I asked her about being in the game and she said yes and signed the form. It is a really good signing and I think it will be a very popular one once the name is announced.
Tickets were only $20 at the Improv, but you had to buy 2 menu items and they seat you at a table. I was not very hungry after eating that awful Chizza, so I just ordered the small sliders and two beers. I saw somebody order the wings and they looked really good so that is probably what I will order if I go back there again.
As a venue, the Improv is overall very nice but the sightlines at the tables (at least for me but I am short) are not the best and I missed a little of the action when both wrestlers were down on the mat.
After the show, I got my Adrian Quest card signed and I also got my Alan Angels card signed (and I got to give him copies of his card which he was really glad to receive.) I just wish I knew Peter Avalon was on this show as they added a match between him and Levi Shapiro and then Avalon was out after the show so I could have gotten Avalon's recent upgraded card autographed too, but I did know to bring it as he was not announced ahead of time.
In addition to getting those two cards autographed, I also signed the two wrestlers on this show who I wanted the most for the game, 1 is a West Coast Pro wrestler and the other is a Championship Wrestling wrestler, for a total of 3 good signings tonight.
West Coast Pro and Championship Wrestling are doing another Tuesday joint show at the Improv in June but I am not sure I will be going since if I am working I would lose a full day of extra pay if I take a day off in the Summer.
I think my next show is MLW in Tampa Bay in 2 1/2 weeks.
