Scott D’Amore is no longer the President of TNA Wrestling.
Anthem Sports & Entertainment Inc. announced today the appointment of Anthony Cicione as the President of TNA Wrestling.

This is a weird move. Scott was not just replaced, he was terminated. I wonder if he did something that was a no-no. Why else fire someone that has been around for so long. Especially with the move back to TNA and Scott screams TNA. As far as making Anthony that President, it seems he has that position with Anthem and so it MIGHT lead to Anthem putting more money and resources into TNA. I am intrigued to see where this all leads.

Reports suggest Anthem tried to tell talent D'Amore quit, rather than being released/terminated. Anthem have also provided some further context when asked by reporters about this. This reads to me like they see value again in TNA now and want a business-mind running it now rather than a more wrestling-focused person.

Good way to run a promotion into the ground is putting a business person in charge.

Good way to run a promotion into the ground is putting a business person in charge. Hey, this time might be different...

Based on everything I've read so far and what I've personally experienced in corporate life, seems like D'Amore was the victim of "Empire Building" within Anthem.

Anthem could not even get its story straight after it fired D'Amore (first they said he left on his own). Goodness, I thought I worked at a place that cannot figure out what story it wants to tell. Like guiltyparty said, this looks like "empire building". Much like 2023, 2024 shows the best wrestling storylines for WWE, AEW, TNA, New Japan, and NWA are not in the ring--they are behind the scenes.

Scott D’Amore Reportedly Attempted To Buy TNA and More Backstage News On His Firing
A major update on Scott D’Amore and the potential reason he was fired from his position as TNA President.
Rumors have been circulating that D’Amore’s termination was due to a previous scandal but PW Insider has confirmed that not to be the case, and instead shines a light on what really occurred. The report says that D’Amore clashed with the head of Anthem, Len Asper, about the direction TNA should be going.
At some point, D’Amore approached Anthem with a major banking institution to buy TNA outright. While the offer was considered, it was eventually rebuffed. Anthem clearly does have some sort of plan for TNA, with the report noting that if they wanted to sell they would have taken D’Amore’s offer, or sought bids from WWE or AEW.
Insider also reveals that D’Amore was aware that he was most likely being let go, and that his attempt to buy TNA, which he’s helped rebuild to a success during his time as president, was a last ditch effort. It is reiterated that Anthem hopes to do something with TNA as they recently integrated the promotion under their entertainment wing.
Stay tuned.

Well TNA had a good run anyways. That just sounds all sorts of corporate interference and WWE light coming up.

Well TNA had a good run anyways. That just sounds all sorts of corporate interference and WWE light coming up. After all TNA has been through, it'll be sad if a corporate guy is what finally kills it. Also, D'Amore would be a gateway signing for sure if we got him.
