The LVRJ (the local Las Vegas newspaper) calls this week Vegas Madness as all of the following college basketball conference championship tournaments annually take place this week in Las Vegas:
Big West mens (at Dollar Loan Center) Big West womens (at Dollar Loan Center)
West Coast mens (at Orleans Arena) West Coast womens (at Orleans Arena)
Mountain West mens (at UNLV's Thomas & Mack) Mountain West womens (at UNLV's Thomas & Mack)
Pac-12 mens (at T-Mobile Arena) Pac-12 womens (at T-Mobile Arena)
This is obviously the last year for the Pac-12 tournaments here (I don't think next year's Pac-2 is doing a tournament.)
I think on Thursday I am going to see my school UNLV (who earned a First Round bye in the Mountan West Conference Tournament) play their Quarter-Final opponent San Diego State (who we just beat last week.) UNLV will be a tough out on their home floor even with a #4 seed this year.
On Thursday, after the UNLV game, I might go to T-Mobile Arena to see my other school Washington State (who also earned a First Round bye and look to have already locked up a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009) play the First Round winner of California vs Stanford.

I just found out that local teachers can get MWC tickets for just $5. One of the few benefits to teaching (in addition to the schedule of course.)

I just realized I posted this in thre wrong thread but in 1 hour my friend is picking me up to go to San Diego State vs UNLV at UNLV's Thomas & Mack and then he is going to drop me off at T-Mobile Arena as I have a ticket to see Stanford vs Washington State at 6. My Stanfrod/WSU ticket also allows me to stay for Utah vs Colorado but I am not sure if I will stay for that game or not.
You got to love Vivid Seats, I scored a ticket in the lower bowl at T-Mobile Arena for about 1/4 of the price it was going for a couple of days ago (and if I waited until tipoff it probably would have been even lower.)

My schools went 1-1 today.
UNLV lost its Quarter-Finals game to San Diego State. We tied it with an incredible shot by Dedan Thomas Jr. (the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year) with 0.5 seconds left in regulation to send it to Overtime but San Diego State won 74-71 in Overtime. If only UNLV had not called that stupid time out at the end of the First Half when we rebounded a missed shot by San Diego State with 1.5 seconds left and then, instead of hanging onto the ball or trying for a desperation full court heave that would have caused the First Half time to expire, for some reason we called timeout to set up some play from the other end of the court (which would have been a full court heave anyway) with just 1.5 seconds left. After the timeout, San Diego State steals the inbounds pass and hits a 3 right at the First Half buzzer. Without those 3 points in the First Half, the game does not go to Overtime and UNLV would have won at least based on the resulting point differential.
Washington State, however, easily defeated Stanford 79-62 and will now play Colorado tomorrow at 7:30 PM in the Semi-Finals. If I can get a good price on Vivid Seats (and I should be able to,) I will be back at T-Mobile Arena tomorrow night rooting for Washington State.

Enjoy the games, Zeke! Best of luck to the Cougars and Rebels. well, as I mentioned in my above post, my Rebels are out but my Cougars advanced to the Semi-Finals in their tournament. seriously, how cool would it be if my school Washington State- one of the PAC 12 "leftovers"- actually wins the final PAC-12 tournament in my hometown? Arizona is #6 in the nation, but we actually defeated them both times we played them this year (both home and away) and during tonight's WSU victory over Stanford there were two guys in the row in front of me wearing Arizona gear saying "these guys are good" about Washington State. Washington State truly represents the underdogs and this year even more than ever so I would be cheering for them even if I did not go there and earn my Bachelors in History there. also on_the_edge, Martin, my friend (since I know you like basketball,) what do you think of my school Washington State making the Semi-Finals of the PAC-12 Tournament when they are one of the only two teams keeping the conference alive after this year? If I see Washington State win the PAC-12 Championship on Saturday here at T-Mobile I really think it will be almost as big for me as when VGK won the Stanley Cup in the same building last June. I really want Washington State to win this tournament!

I really want Washington State to win this tournament! That would be sweet no doubt. They could claim the teams leaving the Pac did so because they couldn't hang. A shame UNLV couldn't make it to the conference final as well. It would have been real cool if both your teams won their conference tournaments this year for you.

currently waiting for the ticket price to drop on Vivid Seats for tonight’s semi-finals as the seat I had yesterday is now going for 4 1/2 times what I paid for it yesterday in the Quarter-Finals (the seat I paid $40 for yesterday is now at a little over $180.). I think by 5 it will be alot cheaper.
