Other than Gulak, I have no familiarity with these names. Thank goodness I am not the only one. I was looking at that list and thought I was really out of touch as his was only name I knew. Either that or it showed how WWE is signing ANYONE they think MIGHT be valuable to other companies to keep them off the market.

They were released precisely because they hadn't shown enough progress to make it onto TV (though a couple have and a couple were on the new NXT docuseries). As for Gable...guy had pretty much no capacity or instincts for pro wrasslin'. He'll go down in history with the likes of Evan Johnson and Edcar (Boo) Thomas as amateur guys who couldn't translate, though those guys weren't Olympians much less gold medalists. Oh, and he should probably be in prison anyway.

WWE reportedly doesn’t renew one of Jerry Lawler’s contracts Over the weekend, Jerry Lawler offered an update on his health during a virtual signing for East Coast Autographs Auctions. The WWE Hall of Famer and Memphis rasslin’ legend said that he’s still dealing with “some minor difficulties” from the stroke he suffered in February of last year, but that overall his “health is great.” We’ll see what the future holds for the 74 year old as he continues to recover. It doesn’t appear his plans will include any announcing or hosting work for WWE. Earlier today (May 6), PWInsider reported that “WWE quietly declined to renew Lawler’s broadcast contract” when it expired at the beginning of 2024. The news was met with surprise internally at WWE, sources told Insider’s Mike Johnson. Lawler has worked as talent for the company for most of the last 30+ years, most recently appearing on NXT last November as one of the legends who helped announce the participants in the Iron Survivor matches at the brand’s Deadline premium live event. WWE did reach out to PWInsider after their initial report to clarify that Lawler remains under a Legends contract (which covers things like merchandising rights), so there are still ties between him and the company.

I'm glad WWE cleared things up regarding Lawler's contract situation. When I saw only one was not extended and it was his announcing one I was worried he still had a wrestling one. Don't need him back in the ring for a match lol

I agree apart from Drew Gulak them releases I am not sure about the names with researching them.
Jerry King Lawler release different generation, today can you now get away with saying puppies or stripsearch during a female match? I did wonder would AEW put JR & the King together though?

Gable Steveson released Surprised his Brother is still around. NXT Wrestler Damon Kemp I'm not. Kemp seems to be getting it and is doing well in his NQCC role. His matches aren't fantastic, but they're better than that train wreck Gable had with Corbin. Also, by all accounts, Gable was hard to work with to the point of being un-coachable.

With Lawyers legend contract I doubt he'd work with AEW but who knows. I think it makes more sense for him to stay with WWE and make an appearance or two each year then go to AEW where he would do the same.
