America’s Best Wrestling Kickoff Press Conference - Live Coverage!
America’s Best Wrestling Commissioner Jim Ross welcomes the assembled wrestling press to the conference. Ross says High Plains Wrestling was bought by a group of investors and is expanding. The new company will be called America’s Best Wrestling and we’ll hear from some wrestlers later in the press conference. The press conference will conclude with the America’s Best Wrestling Universal Heavyweight champion and Universal Tag Team champions being presented with their new belts. Ross says a television champion will be crowned in a four man tournament starting on the first episode of America’s Best Wrestling Sunday Superstars, the studio show that will promote ABW’s weekly live events. The ABW Television title will be defended on Sunday SUperstars but the only way to see the Universal Heavyweight and Universal Tag Team champions in action will be on live events.

Commissioner Ross vacates the podium and Chris Candido takes the mic while Louie Spicolli does Hindu squats behind him. Candido says he and Spicolli have their eyes on the America’s Best Wrestling Universal Tag Team titles and no one can stop them. Candido hands the mic to Spicolli and does pushups. Spicolli says he’s glad to be in ABW but anyone who gets in the ring with them is going down. Spicolli and Candido sprint off stage and head to the back.

Farmer Burns takes the stage. Burns says he’s the best pure wrestler in the world and will prove it by becoming the first ABW Television champion. Burns invites anyone in the crowd to grapple with him if they have any doubts. Mike Graham takes the stage an hits Burns with a leg dive. Security pulls the two grapplers apart.

Once order is restored, Ted DiBiase and Hacksaw Jim Duggan take the stage. Duggan works the crowd into a USA! Chant until DiBiase cuts them off. DiBiase adjusts his black glove and says he and Duggan will go through anyone in their path to take the ABW Universal Tag Team titles, one way or another. The Rat Pack will rule America’s Best Wrestling!

Johnny Valentine is the next to take the stage. Valentine says belts don’t mean much to him but he’s going to prove he is the toughest wrestler in the world and anyone who disagrees with him will face the Atomic Skullcrusher. He’ll hit his opponent so hard the audience will feel it. Valentine says a lot of people have a beating coming including the man who put High Plains Wrestling on the map, Wahoo McDaniel!

As Valentine walks to the back, Jimmy Hart gets on his megaphone and tells the crowd to stand and show respect for his new tag team, Rip Rogers & Buddy Rose! Rogers gets on the mic and says The Hustler will be the ace of ABW just like he was the MVP of High Plains Wrestling. Rose says The Hustler and The Playboy are a match made in heaven and will be the next America’s Best Wrestling Universal Tag Team Champions!

Gorilla Monsoon, part of the ABW office and one of the hosts of ABW Sunday Superstars, ushers Hart, Rogers, and Rose off stage. Commissioner Jim Ross takes the podium and calls Tommy Rich & Stan Hansen to the stage. Ross presents Rich & Hansen with the America’s Best Wrestling Universal Heavyweight title belts. Before either man can speak, Austin Idol & Dutch Mantell interrupt with live mics from the crowd. Idol says Rich & Hansen are paper champions and will never beat Dirty Dutch and the Universal Heartthrob. Idol asks “Whatcha gonna do when Idolmania runs wild on you?”

Hansen and Rich go into the crowd to attack Mantell & Idol but security gets between them. Rich and Hansen grab their belts and head to the back. Commissioner Ross says he hopes the final segment goes more smoothly and invites Wahoo McDaniel to the stage.

Wahoo holds the America’s Best Wrestling Universal Heavyweight title high but the lights go out. There’s a flash of fire and when the lights come back on, Abdullah the Butcher & Bad News Allen are putting the boots to Wahoo! Bad News gets on the mic and says Abdullah the Butcher, the final L1 Wrestling Universal Heavyweight champion, is the only true champion in wrestling. Bad News rejoins Abdullah in pummeling Wahoo until Johnny Valentine hits the stage with a steel chair! Valentine plasters Abdullah and Bad News with the chair!

Security mobs the stage. Commission Ross gets on the mic and tells fans the situation will be cleared up on the first episode of America’s Best Wrestling Sunday Superstars!

America’s Best Wrestling Sunday Superstars 01.01
The show opens with a special announcement from Commissioner Jim Ross. Ross says that the ABW Universal Heavyweight title will be vacant until Wahoo McDaniel takes on Abdullah the Butcher to unify the lineages of the High Plains Wrestling United States Heavyweight title and the L1 Wrestling Universal Heavyweight title. The ABW office is working to schedule this match but on this week’s live event in Columbia Missouri, Wahoo McDaniel & Johnny Valentine will wrestle Bad News Allen & Abdullah the Butcher in the main event!

Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan welcome the fans to the show and hype the main event, Farmer Burns vs. Mike Graham to determine who will go to the finals of the America’s Best Wrestling Television title tournament in two weeks. Heenan introduces the first match.

1. Candido & Spicolli vs. The Mulkeys
Spicolli and Randy start the match. Candido does jumping jacks at ringside as Spicolli works Randy over. Spicolli hits a backbreaker and Candido tags himself in before he can go for the cover. Candido beats up Randy outside the ring but Randy makes a comeback and tags in Bill. Candido recovers and nails Bill with a baseball slide. Candido rolls Bill back into the ring and tags in Spicolli. Spicolli hits a backbreaker for a two count. Spicolli hits the Hot Shot. Candido does jumping jacks and taunts the crowd but Randy breaks the pin. Spicolli shouts at Candido to pay attention. Spicolli hits the spinebuster for the win.

Winners - Candido & Spicolli by pinfall

Back in the studio, Monsoon says Candido & Spicolli aren’t on the same page. Heenan says they aren’t even in the same library and introduces the next match.

2. Bob Cook vs. Adrian Street
Street flounces around before tearing into Bob Cook. Street hits a neckbreaker for a two count. Street wears Cook down with the London Bridge Leglock and hits the crucifix for the win.

Winner - Adrian Street by pinfall

Monsoon announces that next week, Adrian Street will take on Magnum TA in the main event to see who will advance to the finals of the ABW Television title tournament. Heenan says his money is on Street unless he loses. Monsoon shakes his head and throws it to Sean Mooney in the ABW Event Center.

Mooney says that America’s Best Wrestling will be in Columbia, MIssouri this week with Wahoo McDaniel & Johnny Valentine vs. Bad News Allen & Abdullah the Butcher in the main event. Adrian Street, Ivan Koloff, Jimmy Valiant, Dutch Mantell & Austin Idol, Tully Blanchard, the Dynamite Kid and others in action. In the following weeks, ABW will visit Carbondale, Illinois, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Tulsa Oklahoma. Tickets are available at the arena box offices, as well as local Famous Barr outlets.

Mooney throws it back to the studio and Gorilla promises more ABW action after the commercial break. The show returns with the next match already in progress.

3. Tom Stone vs. Magnum TA
Magnum nails Rocky Stone with a running forearm and covers him for a two count. Magnum hits the belly to belly suplex for the win.

Winner - Magnum TA by pinfall

Gorilla puts over Magnum TA but Heenan isn’t impressed unless Magnum wins the ABW Television title and needs a manager. Gorilla introduces the main event.

4. Farmer Burns vs. Mike Graham - ABW Television title tournament match
Graham and Burns grapple back and forth. Burns gets some momentum going and wears Graham down with the grinding toehold. Burns hits the Iowa Backdrop for the win.

Winner - Farmer Burns by pinfall

Gorilla and Heenan sign off. Gorilla says tune in next week when Adrian Street takes on Magnum TA in the main event. The Brain says to be sure to attend ABW live events in your area.

America’s Best Wrestling Live Event - Columbia, Missouri
Gary Michael Cappetta welcomes the fans to the show and hype the main event, Wahoo McDaniel & Johnny Valentine vs. Bad News Allen & Abdullah the Butcher. GMC says that tickets for the next time ABW comes to Columbia will go on sale during intermission. Cappetta introduces the first match.

1. Dynamite Kid vs. Cuban Assassin
Dynamite mows Sierra down at the bell. Dynamite goes to the top but Sierra rolls out of the way of the diving head butt and takes control. Sierra hits Fidel’s Backbreaker for a two count. Sierra hits a second backbreaker for the win.

Winner - Cuban Assassin by pinfall.

Dynamite Kid favors his back as he limps back to the locker room. Cappetta introduces the next match.

2. Mikey Whipwreck vs. Tully Blanchard
Whipwreck goes on the attack at the bell. Whipwreck whips Blanchard to the buckles. Blanchard levels him with a lariat and covers him for the win.

Winner - Tully Blanchard by pinfall

Blanchard jaws with the crowd after the match and heads to the back.

3. Dutch Mantell & Austin Idol vs. Doring & Roadkill
Austin Idol and Amish Roadkill start the match. Idol goes to work on Roadkill and locks on the Las Vegas Leglock. Doring gets past Mantell to make the save. Idol tags in Mantell. Dutch hits the Double Dutch Clutch for the win.

Winners - Dutch Mantell & Austin Idol by pinfall

GMC gets on the mic and tells the crowd the twenty minute intermission has begun. Cappetta announces that ABW will return to Columbia in ten weeks and tickets are now available. Once intermission is over, Cappetta introduces the next match.

4. Jimmy Valiant vs. Ivan Koloff
Koloff mauls Valiant and hits a leg drop for a two count. Koloff nails Valiant with a Russian Sickle for the win.

Winner- Ivan Koloff by pinfall

Koloff chokes Valiant with the Russian chain until Magnum TA comes from the back to make the save. Magnum and Koloff battle until security pulls them apart. Once order is restored, GMC introduces the next match.

5. Adrian Street vs. Tiger Conway
Conway gets in some offense early on. Street shuts him down and hits the Crucifix for a two count. Street locks on the London Bridge Leglock but Conway fights him off. Conway battles back but can’t keep Street on the mat. Street rolls out of the ring and heads to the back but Conway chases him down and rolls him back into the ring. Street turns it around and locks on the London Bridge Leglock but Conway is able to reach the ropes. Conway and Street duke it out on the middle of the ring. Street whips Conway to the ropes but Conway rolls him up in a small package for a two count. Conway goes to the top but Street throws him to the mat. Street nails Conway with a vertical suplex and covers him for the three count.

Winner - Adrian Street by pinfall

Cappetta introduces the main event.

6. Wahoo McDaniel & Johnny Valentine vs. Bad News Allen & Abdullah the Butcher
Valentine and Allen start the match and quickly end up brawling out on the floor. Allen tags Valentine with a Ghetto Blaster for a two count and tags in Abdullah. Valentine and Abdullah brawl outside the ring and the referee loses control. The referee calls for the bell.

Winner - Double Disualification - No Contest

Wahoo grabs the mic and says the crowd didn’t come here to see a double disqualification. The crowd starts a ‘Restart the match’ chant until the referee motions to Cappetta. Cappetta announces that the match will resume!

The bell rings and Valentine tags in Wahoo! Wahoo tears into Abdullah and nails him with a falling chop for a two count. Wahoo hits a second falling chop for a two count and tags in Johnny Valentine! Valentine drills Abdullah with an Atomic Skullcrusher for a two count. Valentine hits a second Atomic Skullcrusher but can’t put Abdullah way. Valentine tags Wahoo back in. Wahoo nails Abdullah with two tomahawk chops, busting him wide open, but can’t keep him on the mat. Wahoo hits two more falling chops. Wahoo nails Abdullah with a tomahawk chop, bringing in Valentine and Allen. While the referee herds Valentine out of the ring, Bad News nails Wahoo with a Ghetto Blaster and rolls Abdullah on top. The referee turns around and makes the count but only gets a two. Abdullah tags in Bad News.

Bad News nails Wahoo with a clothesline for a two count. Bad News nails Wahoo with a Ghetto Blaster but Wahoo gets his foot on the ropes before the three count. Wahoo makes the hot tag to Johnny Valentine. Valentine chops Bad News down and covers him for a two count. Valentine clamps on the sleeper in the middle of the ring. Wahoo holds off Abdullah and Bad News taps out.

Winners - Wahoo & Valentine by submission

Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan welcome the fans to the show and hype the main event, Magnum TA vs. Adrian Street to determine who will go to the finals of the America’s Best Wrestling Television title tournament next week against Farmer Burns. Heenan introduces the first match.

1. Billy Wicks vs. Tom Stone
Wicks and Stone grapple back and forth. Wicks locks on the abdominal stretch but Stone makes it to the ropes. Wicks locks on the double wristlock but Stone is able to get his foot on the ropes to force the rope break. Wicks maneuvers Stone into the middle of the ring and locks on the double wristlock a second time for the win.

Winner - Billy Wicks by submission

Back in the studio, Gorilla reminds the viewers of the long and storied past between Billy Wicks and Chris Candido across multiple federations. The Brain says Wicks needs a partner he can trust and laughs. Gorilla shakes his head and introduces the next match.

2. Rose & Rogers vs. Blue World Order
Buddy Rose and the Blue Meanie start the match. Jimmy Hart riles up the crowd with the megaphone as Rose and Meanie grapple. Rose and Rogers keep Meanie in their half of the ring and wear him down with quick tags. Rose hits the Bombs Away, bringing in Nova and Rogers. Nova cleans house and Meanie hits a neckbreaker on Rose for a two count. Meanie tags in Nova. Rose hits a small package on Nova to turn things around and tags in Rogers. Rose and Jimmy Hart keep Meanie distracted while Rogers hits The Hustle on the concrete. Nova is counted out.

The Brain claps for Rose & Rogers back in the studio. Gorilla calls them despicable and throws it to Sean Mooney in the ABW Event Center.

Gorilla reminds the audience that Dutch Mantell & Austin Idol will face Tommy Rich & Stan Hansen for the Universal Tag Team titles at this week’s live event. Heenan says he doesn’t like the champions’ chances and introduces the main event.

4. Magnum TA vs. Adrian Street - ABW Television title tournament match
Magnum and Street battle back and forth all over the ring area. Street hits a vertical suplex for a two count. Magnum makes a comeback but Street shuts him down and hits a neckbreaker for a two count. Street locks on the Cobra Clutch but Magnum elbows his way out of the hold. Street hits the Crucifix but Magnum kicks out. Street hits a second crucifix for the win.

Winner - Adrian Street by pinfall

After the match, Ivan Koloff attacks Magnum from behind with the Russian chain. Security storms the ring.

Back in the studio, Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan sign off. Gorilla says to tune in next week when Adrian Street and Farmer Burns lock up to crown the first America’s Best Wrestling Television champion. Gary Michael Cappetta welcomes the fans to the show and hypes the main event, Tommy Rich & Stan Hansen vs. Austin Idol & Dutch Mantell for the America’s Best Wrestling Universal Tag Team titles. GMC says that tickets for the next time ABW comes to Carbondale will go on sale during intermission. Cappetta introduces the first match.

1. Dynamite Kid vs. Stevie Richards
Dynamite tears into Stevie and throws him out of the ring. Richards grabs a chair in desperation and nails Dynamite with it. The referee lets it go. Richards drills Dynamite with the Stevie Kick for a two count. Dynamite gets to his feet and eats another Stevie Kick but it isn’t enough to finish him off. Dynamite makes a comeback and nearly takes Stevie’s head off with a hooking clothesline for a two count. Dynamite hits another hooking clothesline for a near fall. Dynamite hits a tombstone piledriver for the win.

Winner - Dynamite Kid by pinfall

Stevie favors his jaw on the way to the back. GMC introduces the next match.

2. DiBiase & Duggan vs. The Mulkeys
Hacksaw and Randy start the match. Hacksaw bulldozes Randy and goes to the top rope but Bill shakes the rope and Hacksaw falls back into the ring. Randy hits a running forearm and tags in Bill. The Mulkeys go for a double clothesline but Hacksaw blocks it and hits Randy with a spinning body slam for a two count. Hacksaw tags in DiBiase. DiBiase hits a full power slam for the win.

Winners - DiBiase & Duggan by pinfall

After the match, DiBiase and Duggan beat up the Mulkeys until the Fantastics come out of the crowd and make the save. The Fantastics help the Mulkeys to the back. Once the ring is clear, GMC introduces the next match.

3. Johnny Valentine vs. Bad News Allen
Valentine gets the early advantage and nails Bad News with the Atomic Skullcrusher for a two count. Valentine and Bad News battle back and forth. The match spills out of the ring and Bad News nails Valentine with a chair. The referee calls for the bell to a round of boos.

Winner - Johnny Valentine by DQ

4. Cuban Assassin vs. Tiger Conway
Sierra works over Conway and hits Fidel’s Backbreaker for a two count. Sierra throws Conway out of the ring and hits another backbreaker on the outside. Conway barely beats the count back into the ring. Conway rallies and hits Let’s twist and head butt for the win.

Winner - Tiger Conway by pinfall

Sierra yells at the referee after the match and gives him a backbreaker before leaving the ring area. Once the referee is helped to the back, GMC introduces the next match.

5. Tully Blanchard vs. Jimmy Valiant
Blanchard and Valiant battle back and forth all over the ring area. The two men battle into the crowd and the referee loses control and calls for the bell.

Winner - No Contest

Valiant and Blanchard slug it out all the way back to the locker room. GMC introduces the main event.

6. Rich & Hansen vs. Idol & Mantell - ABW Universal Tag Team title match
Hansen and Dutch start the match. Hansen overpowers Dutch and hits the Borger Body Slam for a two count. Hansen tags in Rich. Dutch makes a comeback and hits a jumping knee drop for a two count. Dutch tags in Idol. Idol hits an Elbow drop and covers Rich. Hansen attacks idol to break the pin and brawls with Dutch. Rich covers Idol for a two count. Rich wears Idol down with the Wildfire Sleeper. Rich nails idol with a fist drop and tags in Hansen. Hansen hits the slingshot elbow drop and covers Idol but Dutch distracts the referee. Hansen knocks Dutch off the apron and tags in Rich. Rich locks on the WIldfire Sleeper but Dutch pulls the referee out of the ring so he can’t see Idol tap out! Rich chases Dutch around the ring. Idol recovers and attacks Rich. Idol locks on the Las Vegas Leglock but Rich fights him off. Idol tags in Dutch. Dutch hits a jumping knee drop and covers Rich. Idol holds off Hansen while the referee makes the three count.

Winners - Austin Idol & Dutch Mantell by pinfall. Idol & Mantell are the new ABW Universal Tag Team champions!
