ICW NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS RESULTS:
Tonight, we saw the highly exciting and contorversial beginning of the ICW (Independent Championship Wrestling). By the night's end, we had new champions, and believe it or not, two new signings and a new commissioner!
At the beginning of the show, there was a huge battle royal to determine which two men would face off to determine the ICW TV Champion at the first ICW card (separate thread to follow). The last two men left in the ring would face off against each other in a one on one match at that card, and when the dust settled, the two men remaining were "Scrap Iron" Adam Pearce and Necro Butcher.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS FOR ICW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP:
ROUND ONE:
*The Backseat Boyz def. The Wild Samoans when Trent Albright pinned Alofa using a DEATHJUMP
*The Heavenly Bodies def. The Naptown Dragons when Buddy Rose pinned Scotty Vortekz with BOMBS AWAY!
* The Young Bucks def. Age Of The Fall when Matt Jackson pinned Jimmy Jacobs with MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
* Heartbreak Express def. The Armstrongs when Sean Davis pinned Brad Armstrong following a sexy gyration splash
ROUND TWO:
* The Heavenly Bodies def. The Backseat Boyz when Buddy Rose pinned Johnny Kashmere with BOMBS AWAY!
* The Young Bucks def. Heartbreak Express when Matt Jackson pinned Phil Davis with MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
FINAL ROUND:
* The Heavenly Bodies def. The Young Bucks to become the first ever ICW Tag Team Champions. HOWEVER, there was a great deal of controversy in this match when Commissioner Jim Cornette overturned an earlier decision by the referee.
During the course of the match, Tom Prichard was caught using the ringside hammer (used to ring the bell) on Nick Jackson, and the referee declared The Young Bucks the winners by DQ, and awarded them the titles. However, Cornette immediately came to ringside and declared that the match would not end on a DQ, and that it must continue! The match re-started with both teams going tooth and nail until Buddy Rose caught Matt Jackson with BOMBS AWAY. After the match, Jim Cornette jumped in the ring and celebrated with The Heavenly Bodies. Many fans were greatly upset by this... but there would be more controversy to follow...
ICW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT:
ROUND ONE:
* Ricky Landell was awarded the match by decision when Larry Zbyszko failed to appear.
* Brodie Lee def. Brent Albright using THE BIG BOOT (3 1/2 star match, a true classic!)
* Hacksaw Jim Duggan over J.D. Michaels by count out (squash match, no stars)
* Mike Quackenbush def. Harker Dirge using QUACKENDRIVER II (lots of high flying action, 4 stars)
* Drake Younger def. Claudio Castagnoli using a half nelson (hardcore def. power in a close match, 4 stars)
* Delirious def. Erick Stevens with Shadows Over Hell in a match completely dominated by Delirious' ability and Stevens endurance (4 stars - Stevens bleeding badly!)
* Steve Corino def. Adam Pearce with a power slam (surprisingly quick match, 1/2 star. Disappointing... could Pearce be saving himself for the TV title match next week?)
* Eddie Kingston was awarded the match when Chris Hero failed to appear.
After the first round, ring announcer Charlie Cox came out with a briefcase and announced that Jim Cornette has just been fired as ICW Commissioner, and that he is now the new Commissioner of ICW. The reason for the firing was not because of his involvement in the tag team tournament match, but because he had just sold the contracts of Larry Zybszko and Chris Hero to ECW owner Bill Apter, and collected the money. That's why they failed to appear tonight.
"Normally, you would think that I would go after Apter tonight, but instead, I have my lawyers on the line with our parent company, Legends of Wrestling (the athletic commission that rules over every wrestling company in the world), and we are working on something right now to make up for the lost talent. Because as much as it pains me to admit this... Larry and Chris wanted to leave, and Cornette did not stop them from leaving. He simply made it happen and pocketed some extra money for his troubles. I am not going to try and get back talent that wanted to leave. I am still working on the details, and later tonight, I will explain what I have done to boost the talent pool of the ICW..."
ROUND TWO:
* Brodie Lee def. Ricky Landell with THE BIG BOOT (quick match, 1 star)
* Mike Quackenbush def. Hacksaw Jim Duggan with QUACKENDRIVER III (Solid match that saw Duggan unable to match his power against Mike's lightning quick offense - 3 stars)
* Delirious def. Drake Younger with CHEMICAL IMBALANCE #2 (Younger looked as pathetic in this match as he looked good in his first, 1 star)
* Steve Corino def. Eddie Kingston with a superkick (Kingston overpowered Corino throughout the match, but when endurance came into play, Corino took advantage of an exhaused Kingston, 3 stars)
ROUND THREE:
* Mike Quackenbush def. Brodie Lee with a swanton dive (super fast match and total squash of Lee, 1 star)
* Delirious def. Steve Corino using CHEMICAL IMBALANCE #2 (This match was simply the best one of the night. Tremendous high risk offense in and out of the ring, and some of the most insane spots off the top rope to the arena floor ever seen. 5 star match that will be used on highlight reels for years to come!)
ICW Commissioner Cox re-appeared out of the crowd with a large smile and grabbed the microphone.
"I have just struck a deal with Legends of Wrestling, and it is a beauty. With the upcoming Summer 2009 Draft, there is a wide talent pool unclaimed by either WCW or ECW. I have just verified a deal with LOW for ICW to not only obtain two outstanding free agents, but to also label them with a one-time franchise tag. This means that these two wrestlers cannot be drafted by either WCW or ECW in the coming draft. And both of these men have expressed interest in becoming the face of ICW, and are excited to be selected here... the two men are... "THE BIG NASTY", ANGELO MOSCA!!!... and "THE AMERICAN DRAGON", BRYAN DANIELSON!!!"
(At this point, the crowd completely marks out! Angelo Mosca is one of the most feared wrestlers to ever come out of Canada, and is known for being a nasty individual who will certainly make the lives of ICW wrestlers a living hell! Bryan Danielson was one of the hottest newcomers in recent memory, and he was someone that both WCW and ECW wanted very badly. Charlie Cox is showing his ability to shake things up and give the ICW fans the best action!)
FINAL ROUND: * Delirious def. Mike Quackenbush to become the first ever ICW Heavyweight Champion (while it was a good back and forth match, both men were exhausted from the tournament to go for very long, and Delirious took advantage of the exhaused Quackenbush with 20 clotheslines in a corner to overpower him. A good championship match, but the shortness of it only makes it 2 stars)

WORLD TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
* Triple Impact (Justin Credible & Chris Candido) over The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) by DQ. (This was not only the biggest upset of the night, but also an amazing match where Triple Impact took one of the worst beatings I've ever seen. Road Warriors did not roll a single finisher in this long match that eventually saw Animal disqualified for using a chair against Candido)
* Curt & Larry Hennig def. The West Coast Playaz (Buff Bagwell & Konnan) when Curt caught Bagwell with THE HENNIG PLEX (Really good tag action from both teams - I intend on letting them tag full time!)
* The Love Brothers (Hartford & Reginald Love) def. The Killer Bees (Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) when Hartford caught Blair with THE NECKBREAKER.
* The Mongols (Bepo & Geeto) def. The James Gang (B.G. & Kip James) when Bepo & Geeto caught B.G. James with THE MONGOLIAN DROP. (B.G. started the match strong, but as soon as The Mongols took over on offense, that was all she wrote!)
* The Valiant Brothers (Jimmy & Johnny) def. The Vachons (Mad Dog & Butcher) when Jimmy & Johnny caught Mad Dog with THE TOP ROPE ELBOW.
* Al Snow & D-Lo Brown def. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Stan Lane) when Snow beat Lane with THE SNOWPLOW. (This was the fastest match of the night, and the ending left everyone speechless!)
* The Thundercats (Jushin Liger & Tiger Mask) def. The Crusaders (Dewey Robinson & Billy Red Lyons) when Liger beat Robinson using THE FISHERMAN'S BUSTER. (This match was all Crusaders, who overpowered the duo from the onset. But as soon as Liger had an opening, he surprised Robinson with his lightning fast offense)
* The Fabulous Kangaroos (Al Costello & Roy Heffernan) def. The Dream Team (Greg Valentine & Brutus Beefcake) when Heffernan beat Beefcake using THE BOOMERANG. (Short match, and The Dream Team were so pitiful, that I had them split up and fight after the match)
ROUND TWO:
* Curt & Larry Hennig over Triple Impact by DQ when Justin Credible hit Curt Hennig with the singapore cane. (Did they learn NOTHING from the last match about the referees ability to spot weapons?)
* The Love Brothers def. The Mongols when Reginald beat Bepo with THE ATOMIC DROP. (A surprisingly violent match, with The Love Brothers being so dispicable that The Mongols actually heard cheers from the crowd during their post-match brawl to the dressing room)
* Al Snow & D-Lo Brown def. The Valiant Brothers when Al Snow knocked out Jimmy Valiant with multiple head butts. (Snow & Brown are so effective as a team, it's scary! My fellow promoters might want to try teaming them up...)
* The Fabulous Kangaroos def. The Thundercats when Roy Heffernan caught Tiger Mask with THE BOOMERANG. (Solid match!)
ROUND THREE:
* Curt & Larry Hennig def. The Love Brothers when Curt caught Hartford with THE HENNIG PLEX. (This father/son combo is an amazing blend of power and agility, and compliment each other very well. They perform very much like The Hart Foundation, and as good as they could be solo, I want to keep them as a team now.)
* The Fabulous Kangaroos def. Al Snow & D-Lo Brown when Costello beat Snow with THE MARBLE BOR LEGLOCK. (Solid outing from both teams)
FINAL ROUND:
* The Fabulous Kangaroos def. Curt & Larry Hennig when Roy Heffernan made Curt Hennig submit to THE STEP OVER TOE HOLD. (Best match of the night, and both teams gave their all in this contest. Went back and forth the whole time, and it was just a matter of who would submit first.)
After the match, WCW and ECW were allowed to participate in the first round of The Draft to determine which wrestlers would be in their rosters. Both sides were allowed to select eight singles wrestlers and seven tag teams.
WCW Commissioner G. Michael Capetta has selected:
SINGLES WRESTLERS: Sabu The Sheik Exotic Adrian Street Dick Hutton Bob Roop Bob Orton Sr. Ox Baker The One Man Gang
TAG TEAMS: The Road Warriors The James Gang The Valiant Brothers Curt & Larry Hennig The Thundercats The Love Brothers Al Snow & D-Lo Brown
ECW Commissioner Bill Apter has selected...
SINGLES WRESTLERS: John Pesek Greg Valentine Bobby Eaton Ilio DiPaolo Cowboy Bob Orton Larry Zbyszko Yukon Eric Red Bastien
TAG TEAMS: The Midnight Express The Killer Bees The East Coast Playaz The Crusaders The Vachons The Mongols Triple Impact
On the next card will be the first round of the 32-man tournament to crown the World Heavyweight Champion. After the first round, the 16 men who have lost in the first round will be drafted to ECW & WCW...

Great stuff! I'm really enjoying reading your fed. I like your booking style and write-ups.
LOVED the bit about Ted Debiasi trying to pay to have Mil Mascaras taken out... and then getting scheduled to face him in the first round! Blood feud in the making for sure! I can't wait.
Keep up the great work, I'll be following along for sure!

Thanks Ceo... I will be working on the 32 man tournament next, and not to give to big of a spolier away, but...
The very first match in the 32 Man Tournament is Mil Mascaras vs. Ted DiBiase! Mil is out for blood, and DiBiase is swearing up and down that he did not pay off John Pesek to cripple him. And for the record, Pesek is not denying he got paid a large sum of money to cripple Mascaras, but he refuses to divulge if it was DiBiase or not who paid him.

32 MAN TOURNAMENT RESULTS - ROUND ONE:
Here are the results from the first day of the 32 Man Tournament to crown the first ever World Heavyweight Champion. As mentioned before, the World champions will be travelling between WCW and ECW (and perhaps ICW?) to defend their titles.
* Ted DiBiase def. Mil Mascaras when he rolled through Mascaras' Deathjump attempt, and held down his tights for the win. (This match, already hot from allegations that DiBiase attempted to hire John Pesek to cripple him, went off the chart with the two men out for blood. Great back and forth match, and a finish that left fans outraged and DiBiase laughing out loud - 4 1/2 stars, and this feud keeps getting hotter!)
* Antonio Inoki def. The Destroyer with THE ENZUGIRI. (Pretty one sided affair - 2 stars)
* Giant Baba def. Dan Severn with THE NECKBREAKER DROP (Gotta hand it to Severn though. He showed a lot of toughness in this match, considering he was repeatedly kicked in the head and it took three neckbreaker drops to finish him off. But because The Beast showed no offense, this match only gets 2 stars)
* Ed "Strangler" Lewis def. Bruiser Brody with STRANGLER'S HEADLOCK (Lewis must have expected much from Brody, because he came out STRONG. It was the most aggressive I have ever seen Lewis, and he would not relinquish the headlock. It took him a couple of minutes, but he took Brody out. It also took 4 referees to get the hold off Brody. Lewis is charging into this tournament, but will his zeal be his undoing? 2 star match - Brody was simply DESTROYED!)
* Rikidozan over George Hackenschmidt by count out (This match became a surprising display of raw power, cumulated with Rikidozan power bombing Hackenschmidt through the timekeepers table. Brutal! - 2 1/2 stars)
* Diamond Dallas Page over Jimmy Snuka with THE DIAMOND CUTTER (Simply put, this was the quickest upset of the night. Crowd was into this match from the offset. Snuka was in control and had just leapfrogged over Page, but Page stutter stepped and caught Snuka with a surprise Diamond Cutter, and scored an upset. Many fans were upset by this brief exchange, and it only got 1/2 star. Page, upon hearing the boos, simply smiled and walked away...)
* Antonino Rocca def. Pepper Gomez with THE ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER (Solid match between fan favorites, 2 1/2 stars)
* Frank Gotch def. Rick Rude with THE GOTCH TOEHOLD (Believe it or not, this was a 5-STAR MATCH!!! It was one of the best displays of agility and science against power and cunning I've ever seen. Back and forth, and both men went all out to win this match. For his efforts, Gotch received a standing ovation! If he keeps up this pace, he could become a major fan favorite!)
* The Iron Sheik def. Johnny Valentine using a Boston Crab. (This match was simply ugliness and violence. Lots of spitting, low blows and four letter words! Valentine also got his head split open courtesy of a pair of loaded boots. For the hardcore fans in the crowd, this was the bloodbath they were waiting for - 3 stars!)
* Masked Superstar def. Bobo Brazil with a sleeper hold (4 star match, with both wrestlers giving the fans a great show. Lots of highlights to choose from, but the best one was both men going for a head butt outside of the ring, connecting, and knocked each other for a loop. Both men barely made it into the ring to keep from getting counted out.)
* Don Muraco def. Harley Race with THE HAWAIIAN HAMMER (For the most part, these guys weren't wrestling as much as they were cheating. Lots of shenanigans and chicanery, but very little wrestling - 2 stars)
* Sam Hayne def. Buddy Rogers with HELL'S FLAMES (Sam Hayne made headlines by being called up from ICW to replace John Pesek, and many wondered if this indy wrestler could hang in the big leagues. Rogers started the match by slapping and berating Hayne, telling him to "crawl back to some crappy high school before you get hurt". But after taking some hellacious blows, Hayne showed Rogers that he did belong, and wound up using the illegal HELL'S FLAMES manuever, which the referee did not see. 2 1/2 stars, which is a result of the illegal move. Sam Hayne has made a POWERFUL debut in the big leagues tonight!)
* Steve Williams def. Killer Kowalski with THE OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE (If you wanted to see two big men pounding the tar out of each other with wicked haymakers, this was your match! It was like watching dinosaurs scrap! 2 stars - not very scientific, but fun!)
* Jim Londos def. Nick Bockwinkel with THE BOSTON CRAB (Very quick match with Bockwinkel rolling double 1's. Was Bockwinkel's back hurt, or is Londos that damned good? Fans aren't sure, and were actually confused by this match. 1 star)
* The Crusher def. Don Leo Jonathan with THE CRUSHER BOLO (Two men who like each other brawling all over the arena and in the ring and having a great time with it. Highlight came after the match when The Crusher told Jonathan that he was "his kinda guy", and offered to take him out for some beer and polkas. Jonathan told him that he didn't drink or dance, and the look on Crusher's face was priceless. Who da thunk it? 3 stars)
* Rob Van Dam def. Ivan Koloff with Rolling Thunder (Simply put, Koloff didn't have a chance against the incredible offense of Rob Van Dam. He beat Koloff bloody and didn't break a sweat. Fans have never seen anything like RVD, and he may have just leveled the wrestling landscape. Koloff had to be carried out on a stretcher for his troubles. All RVD, all 3 1/2 stars)
So, the day has come to an end, and the line up for the next round is set...
TED DIBIASE -VS- ANTONIO INOKI GIANT BABA -VS- ED "STRANGLER" LEWIS RIKIDOZAN -VS- DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE ANTONINO ROCCA -VS- FRANK GOTCH THE IRON SHEIK -VS- MASKED SUPERSTAR DON MURACO -VS- SAM HAYNE STEVE WILLIAMS -VS- JIM LONDOS THE CRUSHER -VS- ROB VAN DAM
And when all is said and done, one of these 16 men will be the Heavyweight Champion of the World... stay tuned...

AFTERMATH FROM THE TOURNAMENT:
The following day, the following wrestlers were announced to face off in tournaments to crown champions for their respective companies:
WCW CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: * Nick Bockwinkel vs. Ox Baker * Dan "The Beast" Severn vs. Sabu * Don Leo Jonathan vs. The Sheik * George Hackenschmidt vs. Dick Hutton * Pepper Gomez vs. Bob Roop * Jimmy Snuka vs. Chris Hero * Ivan Koloff vs. Exotic Adrian Street * Bobo Brazil vs. Bob Orton Sr.
ECW CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: * Mil Mascaras vs. Yukon Eric * Bobby Eaton vs. Rick Rude * Harley Race vs. Cowboy Bob Orton * Johnny Valentine vs. Larry Zbyszko * The Destroyer vs. John Pesek * Bruiser Brody vs. Red Bastien * Killer Kowalski vs. Greg Valentine * Buddy Rogers vs. Ilio DiPaolo
After the World Championship Tournament, the rosters for both companies will be finalized... but both Capetta, Apter and even Cox are sweating bullets... because SUMMER DRAFT 2009 is coming. Wrestlers drawn from three companies at random, and it will change the landscape of the companies and the wrestlers completely. One week into their new jobs, and they may find themselves in another company! Three tag teams will be dissolved permanently! And considering that the World Champions are the only ones shielded from The Draft, could championships be vacated in the process?
Much more to follow...

(Just as a personal aside, I am really enjoying focusing on LOW/LOTF! And I am liking how the rosters are taking shape in my WCW and ECW. Their is a clear flavor to both companies. WCW is boasting some of the more intense characters and wrestling purists. ECW is boasting some of the most colorful characters and marquis players. WCW's roster reflects intensity and ability, ECW's roster reflects showmanship and star power. But both are filled with wrestlers who can put on a tremendous show. Can't wait to see what happens in the draft!)
