If you look at the ratings, Overmaster is statistically in the "elite" class. Only Monolith and Endgame are rated higher, and he's 2 points higher than Disaster was. This guy should dominate.
On another front, this all works out so beautifully with what I had set up all year in 2123. I had made allusions to Retribution possibly being a spy for Iron Hand, I had split up Paralyze and Rage and made the tag team Rage and Disaster, and Sly Drury was dominant all year, seemingly against all odds. In fact, he made one reference last year about being the one who was REALLY in charge. At the time it meant that he was champ and no one could beat him, but now it looks like it plays right into him being Iron Hand.
In fact, here's one exchange from last year from the fed forum where I had aCe transplant Gheist working as a spy for Iron Hand. See the parts I highlighted. Sly Drury has called the villain leaders to a secret meeting and he seems to know someone is watching from the shadows. There's also a refernce at the end to Iron Hand protecting Retribution.
GWF's Eye In The Sky
GWF 2123 supplemental coverage: just prior to post-Total Elimination GWF Power show for week 16.

Iron Hand is sitting in his office studying footage of the main event Elimination Chamber match from Total Elimination when Gheist appears.Iron Hand:"Gheist, I take it they met as was indicated."
Gheist:"Take a look for yourself."
Gheist pulls out a small device from his trenchcoat and pushes a button. On the screen Sly Drury, Dark Mencace, and Vin Strutter are seen meeting in a backalley behind a building somewhere in the heart of the city. The footage is shot from above them, possibly a fire escape or nearby rooftop. Street noise is heard in the background and the participants are speaking in hushed tones. Vin Strutter:"Why do we have to meet in a place like this anyway? We were all in a nice, warm arean just hours ago!"
Dark Menace:"Because the walls have ears in any GWF arena now that Iron Hand is calling the shots. And you never know who's listening."
Sly:"Exactly.
Actually, I'm surprised you both heeded the call I put in. It feels like some of us have foregotten all about the little unholy alliance we've forged here. Do I got to remind you that
HE is still out there somewhere waitin' for a shot at getting back at us one by one? And what're we doing? Taking shots at each other's teams."
Dark Menace:"Havoc got a little too close for comfort in your GWF title match, huh? Wouldn't want the balance of power tilting just a little, would you? If I could get Monolith back on board I could get rid of the rogue Havoc and all our troubles would be solved."
Vin:"Monolith isn't coming back to you! Why would he give up a spot on the one team that guarentees he'll always be right at the top of the list for a title shot to go with someone who's liable to get him blacklisted?"
Sly:"Shut up! Havoc got out of line, Menace, rope him back in! And Vin, what did your boy Tricks think he was doing spraying that stuff in Patch's face? He's gonna get himself killed like that, you know? Trust me, when it comes to sick and twisted, Patch is in another league. You ain't seen half of what he can do yet."
Vin:"Tricks is....unpredictible. Patch made the challenge and Tricks decided to go defend his territory. Honestly, he scares me lately. I see him before the show starts and after the match ends. Between then, I just stay away and don't ask questions."
Sly:"Well then they both got something in common. There ain't no way we're gonna get either one to let it go until we let them slug it out, so get it signed for the next show and HOPE they settle it quick. We don't need to be distracted by infighting."
Menace:"What
are we going to do about....
him, anyway? You know he doesn't bluff. We've got all we can handle with Iron Hand, and that's just GWF stuff. This other business could effect...everything we've got going on."
Sly:"I'm working on something. Just play it cool and go back about your business as usual in the GWF. But let's try to keep our boys in line for a while, huh?"
The footage cuts out and Gheist puts the device back in his coat.Gheist:"That's the meat of what went down. Real cryptic and vague.
I feel like Drury knew someone was watching and he didn't want to let the others in on it."
Iron Hand:"
Sly is smarter than he looks and far smarter than he even lets on. His days of playing all sides against the middle may be coming to an end before he even realizes it, though. Thank you, Gheist. You may leave."
Gheist:"About this
other business, real quick: You know
I don't like the way things went down in my match with Retribution. I KNOW I could pin his shoulders and take his soul any time I want!"
Iron Hand:"
Stay the course, Gheist. This isn't about Retribution, it's about Swarm. He was so confident in the first weeks of my regime. So sure that he "had my game all figured out", as he told his teammates. That may be true, but now that he knows the game it's my turn to change the rules. He could easily emerge as a disrupting figure in my plans. But when we're done with him, I don't think he'll be bothering anyone anymore."
Gheist disappears and Iron Hand sits at his desk, contemplating his next moves.
