So, I took a look at the promoter last week, and now it seems you have to have a subscription for it.... I'm all for FG making money and all, but isn't $3 a bit steep for an online newsletter? Especially since it was free a few days ago? Paying for the printing and mailing when it was in print is one thing, but this is just a few bits of data on the screen, which doesn't even seem to have a why to print it if you wanted to.
It seems like it would be far more effective as a marketing tool if people could actually look at it, you know?
I know there's cards with it now and all, but those are still just PDF's, not cards, and fan made at that.... while the whole project is pretty interesting, there's a vast plethora of bootlegs of similar quality out there that are free, or that you can pay a similar price for to get actual cards.
It almost seems like a bait and switch to be, opening up the program for use, but then charging for the promoter and the digital sets at the same rate as when they were printed.
Just my .02

I completely agree.
It's interesting and a nice light reading for free, but there isn't enough there in volume or production quality to justify the cost.
It's similar to an HTML email, and online presences just don't charge for that kind of information.

The Promoter has always been a paid extra service, when it was in print. The only difference is now it is online and we have more room, so there is a whole lot more than subscribers would get with the print Promoter. Its premium content that customers can choose to pay for. I'm not sure how it was free a couple days ago, if it was then thats a technical glitch that has been fixed.

So, I took a look at the promoter last week, and now it seems you have to have a subscription for it.... Especially since it was free a few days ago? The Promoter has been around for years and years, and as there always has been, there is a subscription charge to receive the exclusive content within. With the Promoter Online, there is loads more content than the print version, and of course it still requires the time, effort, and contributions of those involved in producing it. If there is free content out there elsewhere of the same quality, then some people might be satisfied. But, if anyone is interested in getting extra content, direct from Filsinger Games, there is a charge, as there always has been. The beauty of it all is that the Promoter Online subscription fee is completely optional. Being a subscriber has nothing to do with your ability to enjoy the COTGonline service. As for being free a few days ago, I'm not sure what you mean. We've charged for the Promoter Online since we launched issue #1 in May. I can only assume you logged in with no Promoter subscription and due to some technical glitch had access to everything, or perhaps you had one issue remaining on your paper Promoter subscription that expired prior to issue #2... PM me if you need help with any technical issues. ~ :-Xsk

I think it would be great if there was a way to print it out like a newsletter, but I totally understand that is a bigger task then it sounds.

This made me think of something. As far as I know I've got one more issue left from the print subscription I had. Whenver my online time is up, am I still going to have access to the first 2 or 3 issues, or not?

the gwf promoter is a complement to the game! it is like the PWI of the GWF! without the newsletter, it's like a vcr tape without a vcr. regardless of the price, the gwf promoter as been around since the love of the game since 1990's. i definetely do understand that time and effort is put into the newsletter and it is still the same--great minds and the love of wrestling enthusiasts like us to enjoy. Tom and is team are awesome in the creativity of the newsletter. as osk pointed out, it is optional to choose if we need to,,though, i recommend its a good read and fun at the same time. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Whether your Promoter Online subscription is active or not, you'll see all back issues in the "Archives" section. ~ :-Xsk

$3 is awesome for the cards alone IMO. Werner's awesome art and the creativity of the community's finest. Come on! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
