1st round of tournament to crown my champion...strategically place Danielson (who I need to win for storyline) against Cannon (who replaced Sweeney, my original choice)...Cannon wins control at start of match & annihilates the American Dragon, never even rolling his PIN during the match! Back to the drawing board...

When dice go crazy, incorporate it into the storyline. What I do is run the card first, and then backfill the storyline when I write it up later.
Good example of this? In my tournament to crown the first ever World Tag Team Champions, the top seeded Road Warriors lost to a mongrel team (two wrestlers who are not official tag team partners, but put together to fill in space) of Chris Candido and Justin Credible by DQ. The chart situation that led to it was rolling a DQ on the Out Of The Ring chart. The match itself was one sided, with Hawk & Animal remaining in firm control of most of the match, but never hitting a finisher.
Using the match results, I played off Triple Impact (my new name for Candido, Credible, and their manager, Tammy Sytch) as a cowardly group of loud mouthed heels who incensed Animal to the point where he took a chair to Candido, and was caught by the referee. The fans hate Triple Impact for costing the Road Warriors their titles, and they hate them more whenever they boast that they "took out The Road Warriors".
Of course, as soon as LOD's music hits, they run like hell...
Maybe you could turn this loss by Danielson into a new storyline for Arik Cannon. If I were Cannon (and frankly, who wouldn't want that?), I would see how the tournament progressed. If he goes far, he could be the emerging star of your company, and if that's not what you wanted, play that aspect as well. Play up Arik Cannon as the man no one wants to become a champion, but who cannot be denied.
If he gets promptly eliminated from the tournament in the following round, he can still hold that one win over Danielson and run with it. From claiming Danielson is a choke artist to Cannon is the best wrestler in the company, spin a feud off of that however you see fit.
Remember, when the dice go bad, the good promoter can use that to spin off some great new feuds and directions!

My problem is the story is already written...in my head...but I think I know a way around this & it actually might move another idea along...gonna sleep on it.

Well, SD Jones beat Bundy in 10 seconds, then again after a 15 minute brawl. Jones then beat Danny Hodge twice.
I once pushed Red Bastein and Billy Red Lyons as an RTC-like team called the Wrestling Conduct Council (making fun of the FCC). I never planned on pushing them much, but they won my tournament to become the tag team champions. They then went on to defend against Rude/Hennig, Dibiase/Williams, and Ox/Brody before finally losing to Gotch/Hackenschmidt. It ended up lasting neatly 8 months.
Also, when I first started with LOW, my Ric flair bootleg (designed to wrestle as he did in about 5 years ago and no longer in his prime) won my Heavyweight Title, holding it for 5 months until dropping it to my Yokozuna bootleg. Victims include Kowalski, Lesnar (bootleg), Rogers, and Snuka (beaten in the finals).

Strangely enough, Danielson lost in the first round of my title tournament, against Sabu. It actually worked really well from a stryline perspective; the match was super competative, and Sabu only won because he was better outside the ring than Dragon. Dragon now wants his win back, keeping him away from the title for the forseeable future.

The dice going crazy has given me Ultramantis Black as an undefeated Underground Champion that's going on month 2 as the champion.

Yep, that's crazy alright...I can relate, as I've had Adam Pearce beat Road Warrior Animal, which was nothing compared to when Savage T(!) beat Sabu!

Okay, you'll all be happy to know my "solution" sort of backfired as well...you can check it out for yourselves over in the fed forum. At this rate, I'm thinking a Savage T vs. American Dragon feud might put fannies in the seats & wins under Danielson's belt...or not!
