El Generico 2 more competitiors to be announced (I think Chris Hero will be the next wrestler announced). Who do you think will win Mr. Vegas? Good question. This isn't my final pick, but I sort of think Roderick Strong might win the Battle of Los Angeles next month. If Chris Hero, as widely expected, is one of the final 2 names to be announced for the tournament then I actually wouldn't mind seeing him win it either because I thought he did a good job as the champion until he dropped the title to Bryan Danielson last month at Danielson's final PWG appearance. Since the torunament is for the PWG Championship that Danielson vacated when he left, I think you can rule out Austin Aries and Kevin Steen as potential winners. Unless they're going to start appearing at PWG more often, it wouldn't make sense to have them win the tournament to become the new champion if they're not going to be at the majority of the shows. In addition to Aries and Steen, I think the only other wrestlers you can pretty much rule out as the potential winner are Brandon Gatson, Jerome "LTP" Robinson, and both of the Young Bucks since they're the current PWG tag champs and it wouldn't make sense to break them up by making one of them the new PWG Champion. But there should also be some cool upsets in the tournament too. My early pick to win the torunament is Roderick Strong, but I'll give my final pick once all the entrants are announced and they reveal the actual brackets (Blocks A, B, C ,and D).

Roderick Strong would be a great choice. One of my favorite indy guys. Curious to see who the remaining 2 names are.

Alex Shelley (and not Chris Hero) got the final spot.
This is what PWG said about Chris Hero:
For those wondering about the status of Chris Hero, as a former Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion he would normally be entitled to a rematch with the individual that defeated him for the title, in this case, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson.
With the special circumstances surrounding Bryan Danielson's departure from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Chris Hero has been granted a future title match with the next Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion. Rather than gamble with his rematch clause by entering the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles, where he would have to win four matches in order to reclaim the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Championship, Chris Hero has opted out of the tournament and to take his chances in a single match with the new World Champion in 2010.
Perhaps Hero will challenge whoever wins this tournament to become the new champion at PWG's show at WrestleReunion 4 in January?
Finalized list of entries for the 2009 Battle of Los Angeles:
1. "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen 2. Jerome "LTP" Robinson 3. Brandon Gatson 4. Scott Lost 5. Brian Kendrick 6. Chris Sabin 7. Matt Jackson 8. Nick Jackson 9. Roderick Strong 10. Human Tornado 11. Joey Ryan 12. Colt Cabana 13. Austin Aries 14. El Generico 15. Kenny Omega 16. Alex Shelley
I'm not making my final pick until all the brackets are revealed, but I think the winner of the Battle of Los Angeles/new PWG Champion will be either Roderick Strong, Brian Kendrick, or possibly Kenny Omega.

I am surprised they did that too. I would have figured that would be a quarterfinal match or something, but it will still be awesome.

I'm not too surprised by them having such a big first round match. They will need one or two big non-tourney matches on night two. My guess is that Young Bucks will defend on night 2. Perhaps against a duo of high-profile singles guys eliminated night 1.
