This is the first wrestler that I've created. I spent a ton of time working on him, but I haven't played the card yet. I wanted to get him posted so that I could get some input as I was fleshing out more details. I loosely based this character and his wrestling abilities on Davey Boy Smith, the British Bulldog. There's no back story yet, with the exception that Davey Storm is from Jupiter and will be a face in my federation, GWF - BIGTIME ENTERTAINMENT. I would love to get any feedback you would like to share - back story ideas, possible feuds and alliances for 2088, comments on the character card itself and its stats. I could also use some help with art and figuring out the Rahl rating. I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say! At first the card rules can seem a bit confusing to learn because of all the small details involved, but after some practice I'm sure you'll get it. One of the sources of confusion is that many of the cards from the earlier sets (ie. 2087) are structured in a way that conflicts with today's rules. That's a consequence of the game being around for over two decades and incrementally making changes for its improvement along the way. The rift lingers. You can use the guide below as a checklist for each offensive & defensive level: Card Creation GuidelinesSome changes to consider: Level 2 Offense 4. shoulder block - 2 (ch D) (ch D & E have to be linked to a -3 potency move) Level 3 Offense 1. cross body block - 2 (ch G) (ch G & H have to be linked to a -3 potency move) The rest is perfect. LWPD, thank you very much for the help. I really appreciate the time you put in.
*I modified the card to appropriately link the (ch D) and (ch G) to - 3 potency moves. Also, I noticed that I had mistyped the height and I corrected that.*
I have a couple more questions, now. With the (ch X) moves having changed potency, are they still on the correct lines for their offense level? The next thing is that the Rahl rating is higher than I was hoping for. It's not so frustratingly high that I can't be happy with my first creation, but I didn't want Davey Storm to overshadow certain other GWF characters that are canon. Are there any suggestions for how to slightly change the card by 6 or more points without significantly altering the flavor of the wrestler? Would changing the (ch X) moves to the "6 or less" letters rather than the current "8 or less" make a difference?
While I was working on Davey Storm's card, I couldn't stop thinking about how I wanted him to look and what gimmick he could use. I still haven't nailed any of that down. If anyone is interested in doing some art for Davey Storm, you would have complete artistic license.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this process, thanks for continuing to help the new guy.

As a general rule of thumb: * On Level 2 Offense the (ch) moves are always placed in between move-2/into ropes/into turnbuckle & move - 3. * On Level 3 Offense the deathjump or move- 3 (ch G/H) always comes before the out of ring designation. The next thing is that the Rahl rating is higher than I was hoping for. It's not so frustratingly high that I can't be happy with my first creation, but I didn't want Davey Storm to overshadow certain other GWF characters that are canon. Are there any suggestions for how to slightly change the card by 6 or more points without significantly altering the flavor of the wrestler? Sure. Here are some options that would reduce the card's Rahl Rating while still being compliant with the rules. You can use these examples as general principals to consider whenever tweaking card potency going forward. Potential Offensive changes:
Level 1 Offense 3. headbutt - 2 (ag/pw) * This would create a third (ag/pw) move on this level and subtract the previously awarded 2 points Level 2 Offense1. abdominal stretch - 1/- 2 (ag/pw) * Making this change would subtract 3 points 4. shoulder block - 2 (ch C/F) * This change of potency would subtract 2 points Level 3 Offense1. cross body block - 2 2. military press drop - 3 (ch G) 3. out of the ring (c) * This easy re-arrangement would allow you to start the level with a - 2 potency move (subtracting 2 points) 5. Jovian Crab - 3 * Dropping the Add 1 potency would change the points involved from 2 to 1 Potential Defensive Changes
Level 1 Defense* Changing one of the dazed - 1 designations to a hurt - 2 would reduce 1 point * Changing a REVERSAL - 1 to a hurt - 2 drops 1 point * Changing a REVERSAL - 2 to a hurt - 2 drops 2 points Level 2 Defense* Changing a dazed - 1 to a hurt - 2 subtracts 1 point * Changing a REVERSAL - 1 to a hurt - 2 drops 2 points * Changing a REVERSAL - 2 to a hurt - 2 drops 4 points Level 3 Offense* Changing a hurt - 2 to a down - 3 would drop 2 points * Changing the Pin to a 7 (4) would drop 2 points Changes To Attributes* Changing an A to a B would drop 1 point * Raising the DQ Rating to 6 would drop 1 point * You can drop 2 points for each - ag/pw you lower by 1 * Raising the Cage Rating to 4 would drop 1 point

That was a really good change; I probably should have had the card that way to begin with. I'm pretty happy with Level 1 Offense and all Defense levels. The other changes that I may make based on the suggestions are... - changing abdominal stretch to a (pw) move - raising the DQ Rating by 1 - raising the cage rating by 1 - removing the Add 1 from the Jovian Crab - using the suggested re-arrangement of Level 3 Offense
I want to be really careful about any future changes that I make because I want to avoid min/maxing. I want the card to have a natural feel when I'm done. I don't want to feel like some numbers are the way they are just because of what I wanted the Rahl Rating to be rather than how I thought the numbers fit the character.
While I'm thinking about it, I have more questions...
How do you guys feel about people using home brew wrestlers in the federations they post on the Fed Forum? Does it further disconnect you from what is going on in someone else's fed?
If you like the odd home brew wrestler in feds, how do you feel about the newly created wrestler being an A-list superstar? [Davey Storm is now has a 43 (46) Rahl Rating; that makes puts him just under Star Warrior and just over Wolf in 2088.]
I'm still looking for someone to do some art for the card because I have no artistic talent whatsoever. Anyone interested?
@ Justin Case: I got to test Davey Storm in an exhibition match today against Omega. I know Omega is out of Storm's league, but I won't get to use Omega for much longer as a wrestler. Davey Storm won by pin after a military press drop. The match was very fun, and I liked the way Davey Storm's card played. I think the change that I made today will make the card even more playable for me.
I'm still interested in any feedback or origin ideas that people have. Thanks.

I don't mind home grown guys as long as I can see art and stats for them. Helps me get into the character more. Great stats Biggin. As far as some feedback for backstory, storyline, etc. I created a card for a wrestler, Kalisto, for the L-FSCE project. I mention it because I notice that Davey Storm is from Jupiter as is Kalisto. I also noted one of his Level 2 moves is the Red Spot Smash while Kalisto's finishing manuever is the GREAT RED SPOT. Kalisto is a seven footer at 355 lbs and could match up well with Davey in a power tag team or maybe even a feud. The card for Kalisto, as well as for others in the L-FSCE project, is available as a free download for Promoter subscribers. @ Valour: What a tease! I'm not a promoter subscriber. I watched the promo video for Kalisto. I'd love to have more details. Also, I don't quite understand the L-FSCE project, and where it fits in chronologically with where my federation is at right now.
In other news, Davey Storm's considerable Rahl Rating is beginning to grow on me. I've tested him in two matches now and I really enjoy playing his card.
