LOW Pacific Coast Wrestling - Honda Centre - Anaheim, CA (Card #1086)
1) PG-13 defeated Texas Hangmen by Count Out:
A wild opening contest saw the ASW team of PG-13 (J.C. Ice & Wolfie D) face off against SSA, Inc. members the Texas Hangmen (Killer & Psycho, with Sherri Martel). These two teams have had several intense confrontations including on the LOW All-Star Wrestling broadcast. The Hangmen were in sync early as they focused their attack on Ice. A neckbreaker and falling sledge combo nearly resulted in a pin on Ice and that was followed by the Hangmen using their bullrope. Ice got his revenge with a hubcap shot to Killer and that set up a rally by PG-13. Ice and Wolfie D showed off some great teamwork and had Killer pinned after the Tilt-A-Whirl but Martel interfered. The referee took immediate action and ejected her from ringside to a big pop from the crowd. The intense battle continued and ended up outside the ring where Wolfie hit Killer in the back of the head with the hubcap, out of view of the referee, allowing Ice to roll back in scoring a count out win for PG-13.
2) Redd Dogg defeated Brad Armstrong:
Controversy engulfed this short match between the popular Brad Armstrong and PCW newcomer Redd Dogg. “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and manager Jimmy Hart showed up at ringside taunting Armstrong leading to Dogg striking with a flying shoulder block for a quick two count. Dogg then grabbed the stunned Armstrong and hit the Blackout for the pin as Gilbert and Hart laughed it up. Armstrong rolled out of the ring post-match and chased them but Gilbert and Hart got away.
3) Pepper Gomez defeated Ray Stevens by DQ:
A legendary rivalry was renewed as Pepper Gomez took on his arch-rival Ray “The Crippler” Stevens. Sir Oliver Humperdink, the manager of Stevens, was not at ringside due to being away on business. That didn’t affect the veteran Stevens, however, as he went full bore after Gomez in what was a great struggle. Both men gave it their all but eventually a battle on the outside decided the winner. Stevens got the upper hand and sent Gomez into the guard rail before hitting him with several chair shots to the back. The referee called for the bell giving Gomez a disqualification victory while LOW officials corralled Stevens preventing a post-match attack.
4) Mil Mascaras & Super Crazy defeated Masked Superstar & Brent Albright:
The “Man of 1,000 Masks” Mil Mascaras teamed with Super Crazy to take on the rugged pairing of the Masked Superstar & “The Shooter” Brent Albright. Many fans in the crowd were sporting Lucha Underground t-shirts showing support for the promotion which joins LOW in the new year. Mascaras, who is heavily rumored to be involved in the new promotion, put on a show against his rival masked man tying up the Superstar in various submission holds. He even hit the Flying Bodypress on the Superstar but Albright broke up the pin at two. Albright had a great exchange with Crazy late in the bout but a counter led to the finish. Crazy caught Albright with the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker and then hit the Triple Moonsault on him to score the pin as Mascaras cut off a save attempt by the Superstar.
5) Loser Leaves PCW: Bob Armstrong defeated Tommy Gilbert:
A battle of family patriarchs saw “Bullet” Bob Armstrong take on Tommy Gilbert, who was accompanied by Eddie Gilbert and Jimmy Hart. That led to Brad Armstrong showing up to even the odds somewhat. The referee, however, ejected both Brad and Eddie from ringside allowing Hart to stay due to his manager’s license. Armstrong then grabbed the mic and threw down an impromptu challenge, man-to-man, to Gilbert and said that there is only room enough for one of their families in PCW and said that this should be a Loser Leaves PCW match. In other words, the entire losing family leaves PCW. Gilbert hesitated to accept but then finally did after he had some words with Hart. Armstrong then called for Hart to be barred from ringside so it could be a clean bout, no interference, but the manager refused. That is until “Mr. USA” Tony Atlas made a surprise appearance and picked up a screaming Hart carrying him back to the locker room.
Armstrong got off to a strong start peppering Gilbert with punches and karate chops. Gilbert fought back at the midpoint catching Armstrong with running knee lift and elbowdrop scoring a two count. Gilbert also took it outside where he shook up Armstrong with a big bodyslam on the concrete floor. Things were looking bad for Armstrong until he suddenly began making a strong comeback. He stunned Gilbert with a big atomic drop and then blasted him with a Knee Lift to score the pin. Just like that it was all over for the Gilbert family as Tommy Gilbert, “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert and “Dangerous” Doug Gilbert all must leave PCW. As for Jimmy Hart, it will be interesting to see if he opts to sign other wrestlers and build up a new stable of talent should he remain in PCW.
6) John Tolos defeated Dutch Savage:
A battle of hardened ring veterans saw the popular Dutch Savage taking on the equally hated “Golden Greek” John Tolos. Savage recently qualified for the PWI Invitational Cup Tournament and was looking to build on that momentum. Tolos, on the other hand, brought a dog collar chain with him to the ring and could clearly be hard saying something about getting his rival Fred Blassie on the opposite end of that chain. Tolos got off to a good start using the corkscrew and thumb to the throat to dominate. Savage fought back with a counter roll-up in the corner for a two count and then hit Tolos with a big knee drop. A barrage of brawling punches and kicks had Tolos in trouble but the “Golden Greek” made a late counter on a backdrop attempt. Tolos then executed a backbreaker for a two count before connecting with his trademark Flying Knee Drop to score the pin. It was an impressive win for Tolos who threateningly posed for ringside photographers with his dog collar chain afterward.
7) Playboy Buddy Rose & Dr. Tom Prichard defeated Tugboat & Chaz Taylor by Count Out:
A grudge tag team showdown saw the father-and-son tag team of Tugboat & Chaz Taylor take on SSA, Inc. members Playboy Buddy Rose & Dr. Tom Prichard who were accompanied by Sherri Martel. This was the in-ring return for Tugboat, who had his neck injured by SSA, Inc., as well as for Rose who was suspended by LOW Commissioner Charlie Cox for the duration of that injury. The 325-pound Tugboat used his girth to dominate both Rose and Prichard frustrating both them and Sherri who shouted out instructions to her men from ringside. Chaz got in on the fun and at one point blasted Prichard with a cartwheel and superkick combo. Prichard fared a little better late in the match and managed to work over Tugboat. It eventually wound up on the outside where Rose, who was the legal man, decked Tugboat with a pair of brass knuckles. Tugboat attempted to shake it off and get back into the ring but Sherri grabbed his legs and held him down resulting in a count out win for her men. The crowd jeered that decision but The Taylor’s got some revenge post-match by taking Sherri to the woodshed before she escaped into the arms of Rose. This is a war that is far from over based on the raging tension between both sides.
8) Roddy Piper defeated Jimmy Snuka by DQ:
The main event on the final PCW Card of the year saw Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka take on his hated rival “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Piper was accompanied by his bodyguard “Ace” Cowboy Bob Orton setting up a dangerous situation for Snuka who recently returned from a serious neck injury inflicted on him by the two men. The ensuing battle was a torrid one with each man trading vicious blows. Piper gained control and caught Snuka with a back suplex for a two count. Snuka battled back and, after an assault on the floor, he delivered the Superfly on Piper for what looked to be a sure pin but Orton ran into the ring. Snuka alertly tossed Orton back outside and then rolled a stunned Piper up for a big near fall. Piper made a corner counter and then applied the Sleeper Hold but Snuka got to the ropes for a break. Snuka battled back and took it to the floor where he whipped Piper into Orton knocking both men down. His aggressiveness got the better of him, though, and he grabbed a chair laying into both Piper and Orton with the weapon as the referee called for the bell. Piper won it by disqualification but along with Orton had to run to the back to escape further harm. Tony Atlas then ran down to ringside to calm Snuka down as he continued clutching the chair. The office of LOW Commissioner Charlie Cox later sent word that Snuka and Atlas have been signed to face Piper and Orton in a tag team match that will open the card at WrestleCade 11.
