After reading my buddy's new GWF promotion (Crimson Cross), I have an urge to jump back into 2087. However, before I jump into anything, I like to get to know what exactly I'm jumping into. Therefore, I do have a few questions about COTGonline.
1. Do you use the simulator or the gametable? Wait, can you simply use the simulator to run a fed? Would that throw out options like manager interference and whatnot? The simulator seems to be what will allow me to play with my lack of time.
2. If the simulator only sims matches and don't have any of the options like manager interference, do the dice really roll randomly? I remember that hideous program that we can't mention here that always seemed to roll the same die over and over again. For the record, I do not use that program.
3. Will I ever lose anything that is on the servers?

The pbp sim is just that... you don't have any control over anything that happens, you just set the match to go and it goes.
You can list a ringside ally, and he/she does interfere in the match AFTER a successful pin roll.. if the interference works, the match continues. I THINK the game rolls on the outside interference chart if it's a wrestler and tried for distraction if a manager, but I'm not sure about that.
The game table is VERY similar to that other program.. maybe with couple bells and whistles.
I haven't noticed the dice having any randomization issues, but I haven't used it that much.
I'm pretty sure you can try both with Bloodline and Encubus... you just have to log in (or create an account if you don't have one). If you've purchased anything from FG that has a downloadable element, you have an account already.
That will let you look at other people's stats on the stat tracker, and use the demos, IIRC.

So, do people use the sim over the gametable? I think using both would work, but I don't know the system. If you just have a random match with no future storyline in my fed, the sim could work for that match. However, if you have Wolf and Thantos in a feud match for the GWF Championship, you might want to use the gametable for the full affect, eh? Basically, I want to know if people use the sim to run a fed, or does it just keep things in a win-lose outcome with nothing else.

I use the SIM Table, get the results and then write my fed storylines based on the end result of the match. If say, Star Warrior defeats Thantos by DQ, then I'll make up my own storyline reason for why the DQ happened.

Nice! I'm thinking of doing that. How long does it take you to run a card prior to the write up?

I usually do them both at the same time. The PBP takes just a couple seconds to get the result of a match and then I write the interviews and stuff around the result as well.

And the match result also gives you a length of match as well.
Alas, there are some restrictions. No Aethran Escape Match, for example.

Are the match lengths realistic?

Yeah, it will list the number of rolls and what the results were and the lengths are based on how long it took to 'play' the match.
