Heartland Championship Wrestling Wednesday Night Warfare March 4, 2009 (Card #199) Sieberling Gymnasium, Tiffin, Ohio The show opens with Warfare GM DAYTONDAVE in the ring with a microphone.Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome back to Wednesday Night Warfare! Daytondave here, and the HCW crew is back with another awesome show for your viewing pleasure. We're on the heels of Heartland Havoc XXIV, and to be honest, things for the Warfare crew didn't go so well. But rest assured, fans, the boys are back in town and ready to rumble! You will NOT believe the match we have signed for tonight's main event! It's no holds barred, with the Warfare Combat Championship up for grabs as the champ, THE MISSING LINK, defends the belt against none other than the homicidal, suicidal, genocidal maniac himself, SABU! Can the sleepy little town of Tiffin handle action this hot? We'll find out soon enough. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show! (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)IVAN KOLOFF vs. TOM PRICHARDThe Russian Bear was impressive in his debut match, dominating Prichard and tossing him around the ring with contempt. But Prichard proved himself no easy foe, surviving an agonizing backbreaker and drawing the ire of Koloff with his resilience. The frustration mounted for Koloff, who took after Prichard with his steel chain and got himself disqualified. WINNER: TOM PRICHARD(Koloff disqualified for use of the steel chain)After the match, Koloff continued to take after Prichard with the chain, but Prichard grabbed a steel chair from ringside and fended off the assault. When Prichard tried to fire back, Koloff quickly backpedalled and scurried away from the ring.Daytondave: Now that's what I call fighting fire with fire, fans! Signing Ivan Koloff was a major accomplishment for Wednesday Night Warfare, but even the least touted guy on the Warfare roster just proved that there are no easy victories to be had here! DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN vs. DANNY DORINGDoring put up a respectable showing for his first match, but was overpowered and stretched by Severn en route to a convincing victory. WINNER: DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN(Severn pinned Doring with a Choke Sleeper)Daytondave: Size, strength, and technique- Severn has the complete package. Doring didn't do badly, but he'll have to come stronger than that to be successful here at Warfare. It's a Man's Game! All right, fans, before our next match, we have a special announcement from the HCW Commissioner himself, COUSIN LUKE!The TiffinTron lights up, and COUSIN LUKE appears in his office. Luke: How y'all doin? The time has come, folks, for a new contender for the Heartland Tag Team Championship! Now that the new rankins are up, we got the top four tag teams in the Heartland set fer a tournament to decide the number one contender! Next week on Warfare, y'all are in fer a surprise! The United States Tag Team Champions, THE ARMSTRONGS, will be a-visitin' Warfare to take on THE BACKSEAT BOYZ! N' over on Old School, yore champions, THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS, will go and take on THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA. The winners of them two matches will rassle each other to become number one contender! The arena applauds as Luke fades from the screen.Daytondave: How about THAT, Heartland fans? Once again, the Commissioner comes through with an idea that will excite the fans. Ol' Luke is a simple fellow, but he knows what the people like. Now, let's get to our next match! THE BACKSEAT BOYZ (TRENT ACID & JOHNNY KASHMERE) vs. THE HEADSHRINKERS (SAMU & ALOFA)The fame and glory of the Backseat Boyz was short-lived at best. Alofa got the jump on Trent Acid at the opening ball and planted him with a crushing Samoan Drop for a quick victory! WINNERS: THE HEADSHRINKERS(Alofa pinned Acid with a Samoan Drop)Daytondave: What the- ?!?!? Looks like the Backseat Boyz got a little overconfident after tonight's announcement. Nothing like an upset loss to bring everything back into perspective. Fans, this next match has the potential to be something special, so check this out! MIKE QUACKENBUSH vs. MIL MASCARASIn a stunning turn of events, Quackenbush outfoxed Mascaras for the victory! Mascaras controlled much of the early action with his ground attacks, softening up Quack with an Octopus Hold and a Bow and Arrow. Quackenbush fought his way to the bottom rope to force the break, then pitched Mascaras to the floor and blasted him with a Slingshot Plancha! Before Mascaras could recover, Quack flattened him with a Quackendriver II and scored a clean pinfall! WINNER: MIKE QUACKENBUSH(Quackenbush pinned Mascaras after a Quackendriver II)After the match, Quackenbush headed to the announcers' table. Daytondave handed him the microphone to address the crowd.Quackenbush: Thank you, Daytondave. First off, I would like to congratulate Mil Mascaras for a great match. This is exactly the kind of action that makes the Heartland the top federation in the Midwest. You'll never see that quality of competition from those bozos in Tradition. Adam Pearce? Chris Hero? What the hell were you guys thinking? But Daytondave, I am here tonight for one reason. I was called out by Chris Jericho. Dude, all I have to say to you is, BRING IT ON!!! Quackenbush hands the microphone back to Daytondave as the crowd cheers. Daytondave: Now THAT was impressive! Quackenbush has had his hands full recently, losing his Candy Cup to JUSHIN LIGER and getting into it with JERICHO at Havoc this past weekend. But tonight he kept his focus and took advantage of an opportunity to pull off a major victory! That is really a feather in his cap, fans. And now, Quackenbush has responded to Jericho and accepted the challenge. You better believe it, I will be on the phone with Rob Bennett the instant we get off the air. If Jericho has the guts, he can show up one week from tonight and get into the ring with Quackenbush! All right, fans, let's take a look at THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS. Kip and BG had a rough time last month, losing their shot at the Heartland Tag Team Championship in chaotic fashion. Can SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK bring these guys back to form? THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS (KIP & BG JAMES w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK) vs. BLOODLUST (JUSTIN CREDIBLE & DRAKE YOUNGER w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY)The match started somewhat rocky for the Outlaws. BG was trapped in the ring, and pummeled by both members of Bloodlust. At one point, he broke free, but did not tag in to Kip. Instead, he battled back against Younger and finally got the advantage before tagging out. Kip was dominant, drilling Younger with a powerful clothesline and beating down Credible! Kip threw in a haymaker on Jonny Fairplay for good measure. Then the Outlaws executed a double-team Spike Piledriver on Credible, then Kip finished him off for a convincing win. WINNERS: THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS(Kip pinned Credible after a Power Slam)Daytondave: It looked a little dicey there for a few moments, but the Outlaws pulled it together and came out victorious in the end. Looks like SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK is on his way over for a conversation. Humperdink: No doubt about it, Daytondave. The Outlaws are together to stay. You think one loss is gonna stop BG and Kip? Naw, baby, naw! Bobby Heenan, tell your boys to keep them belts nice and shiny clean, 'cuz we're comin' for ya! Bring it in, boys! Kip and BG join hands with Humperdink for a group knuckle-knock, and the trio leaves the ring area together. Daytondave: Interesting show of unity there for the New Age Outlaws. But Humperdink neglected to mention, his team isn't even in the HCW Top 5 for the first time since they hit the scene. Back to the drawing board, boys! Now fans, you know that Daytondave has never been one to be outdone. I've got my own little contenders' tournament planned, with a title shot against American Heavyweight Champion DANNY HODGE up for grabs! AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: QUALIFYING MATCH BUFF BAGWELL (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. THE SANDMAN (w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY)The first qualifying match quickly turned chaotic! Sandman kicked Bagwell's butt around the ring for several minutes before Bagwell took a powder and headed to the arena floor. Sandman followed, and whacked Bagwell with the Singapore Cane! Only the timely interference from Jonny Fairplay prevented Sandman from being disqualified. Larry Sweeney tried to interject himself, but Fairplay sucker-punched him and the two managers erupted into a brawl at ringside! Sandman tried to take advantage of the distraction, and whipped Bagwell viciously into the steel security railing. But Joe Kopasz caught the infraction this time, and called for the disqualification. WINNER: BUFF BAGWELL(Sandman disqualified for brawling outside the ring)After the match, Sandman continued the attack on Bagwell, but COWBOY BOB ORTON rushed to the scene and threw Sandman to the floor! Orton tossed Sandman into the ring, preparing to exact his revenge, but Sandman slipped away and escaped unharmed.Daytondave: Sorry, Sandman and Jonny Fairplay. Sweeney and his men had a rough night at Havoc, but it sure doesn't look like they're gonna roll over for the likes of YOU. Sandman is a tough SOB, but he's been hit on the head a few too many times to be championship material. Next week, it will be CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI squaring off against KONNAN for the other spot in the number one contenders' match. Will Sweet & Sour, Inc. capture both spots in that bout? Check us out next week to learn the answer to that question. Now, fans, batten down the hatches- it's time to rumble! MAIN EVENT: WARFARE COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIP MISSING LINK (c) vs. SABUIn one of the most brutal matches Warfare has ever witnessed, the two maniacs nealr tore apart the quiet town of Tiffin! Sabu opened with a flurry, crushing Link with a Slingshot Legdrop! Link went down, and Sabu immediately fetched a steel chair and smacked him with an Arabian Facebuster. But Link powered out of the move, and seemed to be more inspired than injured! The champions roared back, snatching the chair from Sabu and delivering three wild shots to Sabu's head! Sabu fell to the canvas, busted open, and Link finished him with a Back Flying Head Butt. WINNER: MISSING LINK(Link pinned Sabu after a Back Flying Head Butt)MISSING LINK RETAINS THE WARFARE COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIPDaytondave: Was that insane or what? Sabu is one of the baddest men on the planet- and Missing Link just about tore his head off! Can anybody withstand the fury of this Link character? My feeling is, his title reign is going to be a long and bloody one. Okay, fans, we're done here. What a night! Make sure to come back on Saturday night for Old School. My man JR JAMES is planning a very special show to celebrate the 200th episode of Heartland Television! Look for plenty of VIP's to be on hand, and be ready for some top quality wrestling like only HCW can put out. Sources tell me that JR has a huge Main Event in store- it's gonna be a Taped Fist First Blood match between HARLEY RACE and KING KONG BUNDY! You will definitely want to be on hand for that confrontation. All right, fans, good night from the bustling metropolis of Tiffin. That's our show, and I AM OUTTA HERE! Heartland Championship Wrestling Old School Saturday Night March 7, 2009 (Card #200) Millett Hall, Oxford, Ohio The show opens with a group of Heartland dignitaries in the ring, including HCW Owner TED DIBIASE, COMMISSIONER LUKE, JR JAMES, and DAYTONDAVE. The atmosphere is festive, and the champagne is flowing. MISS BERTHA parades around the ring, pouring champagne for the assembled entourage.DiBiase: Gentlemen! A toast! I am so proud of the HCW Leadership Team for 200 episodes of first-rate televised wrestling! Luke, partner, I have to hand it to you. Your commitment to the enjoyment of the Heartland fan base has made this territory what it is today! The dignitaries raise their glasses in honor of the Commissioner.Luke: Thank ya, Mr. DiBiase! We shore do love our fans here! You done brung this territory back from pert near ruination, sir! DiBiase: Luke, we would never let the Heartland legacy die. Daytondave, you've been around here as long as anybody. Give us your thoughts! Daytondave: That's right, boss! The legacy of the Heartland is second to none. The very first Heartland telecast took place right here in Oxford, way back in October of 2006. We've hosted 200 television shows, and 24 pay-per-views, since we opened the doors. And I am pleased to announce, some very special people are in attendance here this evening! We'll be highlighting those individuals throughout the evening as the show progresses. Now, over to my broadcast colleague, JR JAMES, to introduce tonight's exciting show. JR: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tonight's special episode of Old School Saturday Night! Tonight's telecast will feature a grudge match of epic proportions as HARLEY RACE squares off against KING KONG BUNDY in the Heartland's first-ever FIRST BLOOD TAPED FIST match! We'll also see two matches with important championship implications, along with a very special surprise for the loyal fans of this great territory. Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest! (Tonight's referee: Nick Patrick)CURT HENNIG vs. 'SWEET' STAN LANE (w/ JIM CORNETTE)The opening bout was entertaining and competitive. Lane started strong, blasting Hennig with a series of Superkicks, and holding his own in a couple of forays outside the ring. But Hennig fought his way back, overpowering Lane and coming back to pick up a hard-fought victory. WINNER: CURT HENNIG(Hennig pinned Lane after a Hennig Plex)JR: A fine performance indeed for Curt Hennig. With his father on the shelf, Curt has decided to try his hand in singles competition where historically he has met with considerable success. But you had better believe that Curt has not forgotten about NIKITA BREZNIKOV and the FOREIGN LEGION. Vengeance will be high on Curt's agenda in the near future. Before our next match, ladies and gentlemen, Allow me to recognize some of the many contributors to the success of Heartland Wrestling. With us here tongiht, we have the broadcast crew from the very first Heartland telecast! JR: Let's have a round of applause for Ring Announcer LILLIAN GARCIA, Broadcasters MARK MADDEN and LANCE RUSSELL, and former Heartland Commissioner ALEXANDRA YORK! Now, ladies and gentlemen, the Old School will take you back to some of the classic superstars of wrestling's golden age. MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ SLICK) vs. DON MURACOIn a grueling match, Superstar wore down Muraco and finally put him away. WINNER: MASKED SUPERSTAR(Superstar pinned Muraco after a Head Butt)JR: Once again, the stars of the Old School deliver an excellent bout! Muraco survived the dreaded Cobra Hold, not once, but TWICE! But Superstar kept after him and it is the masked man who catches the duke. Now, fans, in honor of the 200th show of Heartland Wrestling, we are excited to bring you the debut of our latest acquisition! The Heartlandtron lights up as the tune "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath fills the air. THE ROAD WARRIORS, HAWK AND ANIMAL storm the ring and mount the turnbuckles, gesturing to the ecstatic fans throughout the arena.THE ROAD WARRIORS vs. THE VALIANT BROTHERSThe atmosphere in Millett Hall was electric for the debut of Hawk and Animal! But the Valiant Brothers would not be intimidated, keeping the pace of the match slow and tagging frequently to prevent the Warriors from gaining significant momentum. Despite their savvy ring presence, the Valiants could do no damage to the Roadies. After a protracted struggle, the end came quickly as Hawk exploded on Johnny, planting him with a running clothesline and surprising him with a leap from the top rope to gain the pinfall! WINNERS: THE ROAD WARRIORS(Hawk pinned Johnny after a Flying Cross-Body Block)JR: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Road Warriors! Hawk and Animal have wanted to enter the Heartland in the worst way, and now the two baddest men in wrestling are here at Old School! The Valiants put up a great struggle, but no team in the history of the sport is as explosive and deadly as Animal and Hawk. The Heartland has been put on notice- whether it is the United States Tag Champions THE ARMSTRONGS, or even the Heartland Tag Team Champions OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO, no tag team titles anywhere are safe from the grasp of the Road Warriors! And now, fans, as we honor the heritage of Heartland wrestling, let us recognize the participants in the very first televised match in Heartland History! Please give a warm welcome to CHRISTOPHER DANIELS, who to this day remains the winningest wrestler in HCW history! On that occasion, Daniels was accompanied by his former manager, WOMAN, who joins him in attendance here this eveining. In that match, Daniels faced off against current Heartland superstar DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE, seconded by his wife KIMBERLY. DDP is still recuperating from an injury, but he has been gracious enough to join us here at Old School this evening, accompanied by the lovely Kimberly herself. JR: All right, ladies and gentlemen, let's return to the ring from another classic, Old-school-style battle of superstars! BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK) vs. JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKASnuka and Bobo tore the house down with a classic back-and-forth encounter. Brazil overpowered Superfly in the early stages, trying to wear him down with bearhugs and body slams. But Snuka fought back, tossing Brazil out of the ring and nailing him with a slingshot Plancha! Both men went down, but it was Superfly who recovered first. Jimmy went to the top rope, but missed the Superfly Leap! Bobo went back to the Bear Hug, as much to rest as to punish Snuka. But Jimmy powered his way out, and floored Brazil with a massive chop! Snuka went back to the air and connected solidly with a flying headbutt to put Bobo down for the three-count. WINNER: JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA(Snuka pinned Brazil after a Flying Head Butt)JR: How about that? Superfly plastered Bobo with that flying headbutt and there we nothing that he, nor Slick, could do about it. No question, that is an impressive victory for the Superfly. Ladies and gentlemen, we have one more group of VIP's to introduce this evening. We are honored to be joined by the first-ever Heartland champions! Please give a warm welcome to the inaugural Heartland Heavyweight Champion, SCOTTY STEINER! Also, ladies and gentlemen, the first-ever Heartland Tag Team Champions, TOMMY 'WILDFIRE' RICH and BRIAN PILLMAN are on hand! And last, but not least, the first man ever to capture the Midwest Heavyweight Championship is here- so give a round of applause to BRADSHAW! As the Millett Hall crowd applauds the champions, BOBBY HEENAN makes his way to ringside, accompanied by Heartland Tag Team Champions OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO, and United States Heavyweight Champion RAY 'CRIPPLER' STEVENS. Heenan casts a glance at the champions, then leads his men to the announcers' table. Heenan: Wow, JR. I am impressed! The quality of Heartland Champions has really improved since the old days. What a collection of chumps! Scotty Steiner? How scrawny is he? I don't think any amount of time in the gym will help that little pipsqueak. Maybe he should give A-Rod's cousin a call and see about some supplements. And Steiner- while you're at it- get a haircut! And those tag team champs- they look more like chumps to me. They look like Laurel and Hardy on peroxide! And Bradshaw- I guess he's all right. You work for ROB BENNETT now, don't you, Bradshaw? Yet another smart business move. Ya gotta love Republicans! JR: Enough already, Bobby! What are you doing here? Heenan: Me? I'm scouting. We've got two important matches coming up. I wanna see what these challengers have to offer. When you're the 'Manager of Champions' like me, you gotta watch everybody. Now let's see some wrestling! JR: I must admit it, ladies and gentleman, the man makes a good point indeed. About the matches, I mean. His comments about the former champions were completely out of line. But no question, you can't argue about the success the Bobby Heenan and his troops have enjoyed in the Heartland since he got started here. So, let's take a look at the challengers! HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: QUALIFYING MATCH THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS (DUSTIN LEE & SCOTTY VORTEKZ) vs. TEAM CANADA (THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA)In a surprisingly one-sided contest, the Canadian team dominated the Dragons. The Naptown Boys could never get anything started offensively, and Mountie used his Shock Stick with brutal effectiveness to wear down Dustin Lee and score the victory. WINNERS: TEAM CANADA(Mountie pinned Lee after using the Shock Stick)Heenan: Not much there, JR. Just remind me to take the batteries out of that cattle prod if we face those Canadian clowns for the title. What else ya got? JR: Team Canada has taken down some very capable opponents, Mr. Heenan. Don't underestimate them. Now, we'll look at the number one contenders for Ray Stevens' US Title! UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH GIANT BABA vs. DICK HUTTONThe contenders' match was a monumental struggle, with momentum shifting on multiple occasions. Hutton absorbed an incredible amount of punishment, but Baba was unable to put him away in the early stages of the match. Hutton battled back, dropping Baba with a Side Salto for a near fall, then torturing him with an Abdominal Stretch. But the Giant worked his way to the ropes, forcing Nick Patrick to break the hold. The battle continued, and Baba gradually gained control. A massive boot to the face stunned Hutton, and finally a weary Baba chopped him down to earn the victory. WINNER: GIANT BABA(Baba pinned Hutton after a Baba Chop)JR: Now that is an impressive competitor. Bobby, I think your US Champion is in for a tough battle indeed against a man like Giant Baba. Heenan: I'm not worried about that, JR. Hey Larry- why don't you see if that Canadian guy will let us borrow his electric cattle prod. That might come in handy against this Japanese giant. Come on, fellas, let's get out of here! Heenan leaves the announce table, followed closely by Baker, Zbyszko, and Stevens. As Heenan's crew departs, they pass by the row of previous champions. Words are exchanged between Zbyszko and Brian Pillman. Without warning, Pillman springs from his seat and pounces on Zbyszko! Ox Baker grabs at Pillman, but Tommy Rich shoves Baker away. Steiner takes a poke at Heenan, but Ray Stevens sucker-punches him! A six-way melee breaks out, and security forces rush to the scene. Bradshaw steps back, moving away from the fracas and grinning broadly as the brawl continues. Finally, BIG JIM THE ENFORCER and his band of security officers gain control of the situation and usher Heenan and his men back to the locker room. JR: What a bizarre turn of events! I guess I am not surprised- there are some volatile personalities on both sides of that situation. Leave it to Larry Zbyszko to stir things up- and wherever Brian Pillman shows up, chaos follows. Now that we have that situation under control- it's time for tonight's Main Event! MAIN EVENT: TAPED FIST FIRST BLOOD MATCH HARLEY RACE vs. KING KONG BUNDYThe feud between Race and Bundy has been long and brutal, and tonight's encounter was no different. Bundy came out with unbridled aggression against his rival, using his tape fists to pummel Race. Harley fought back, striking Bundy with head butts and knee smashes, but Bundy hurled him out of the ring and smashed his head onto the steel security railing! Race somehow escaped without a cut, but he was clearly dazed, and Bundy took advantage. Race rolled back into the ring, but Bundy caught him with another taped fist to the side of the head, then dropped a massive elbow onto Race and tore a gash over his right eye. As the blood trickled, Nick Patrick called for the bell and Bundy was victorious! WINNER: KING KONG BUNDY(Bundy gashed Race on the forehead with an elbow drop)After the bell, Bundy continued to put the boots to Race, pummeling him with kicks and punches and targeting the open wound. Jim Cornette drew the attention of Nick Patrick away from Race as Bundy sunk his teeth into the injured forehead. As the beating continued, THE CRUSHER emerged from the locker room to chase Bundy away from the scene and rescue his fallen ally.JR: Gruesome! I've never seen Harley Race get manhandled like that. His forehead is one ugly mess, and he has King Kong Bundy to thank for it. Only the intervention of The Crusher saved Harley from major injury. No question, we have not heard the last of that rivalry. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it has been a festive night here at Millett Hall- not without its hiccups, but indeed a fitting celebration of 200 successful broadcasts of Heartland Championship Wrestling! Be sure to stop by on Wednesday Night for the next episode of Warfare, as our own BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG face off against THE BACKSEAT BOYZ in a Heartland Tag Team Championship Qualifying Match! And in Wednesday's main event, it has just been confirmed that indeed, CHRIS JERICHO will be in the building for a grudge match against MIKE QUACKENBUSH! You definitely won't want to miss the next chapter in the storied animosity between the Warfare Crew and those rascals from Tradition. Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State! Old School United States Champion: RAY "THE CRIPPLER" STEVENS Old School Tag Team Champions: BOB AND BRAD ARMSTRONG Old School Great Lakes Champion: NICK BOCKWINKEL

Heartland Championship Wrestling Wednesday Night Warfare March 11, 2009 (Card #201) Erie County Community Center, Sandusky, Ohio The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring.Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome to Wednesday Night Warfare! Daytondave and the Warfare crew are proud to be here in the shadow of one of the world's greatest amusement parks to bring you an outstanding night of action! Tonight, the snot-nosed little punk CHRIS JERICHO is here, and he will have his hands full with MIKE QUACKENBUSH! We've also got a couple of contender's matches, and a couple of debut matches of newly acquired Warfare talent, so tonight is shaping up to be an exciting night. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show! (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)COWBOY BOB ORTON (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. RICKY LANDELLLandell entered the ring cocky and bold, but Orton quickly cut him down to size. Orton pummeled Landell and beat him from pillar to post, but in a flash, Landell ducked out of a Death Valley Driver. Landell seized upon the opening, caught Orton coming in, and planted him with a Fisherman's Buster for a quick three-count! WINNER: RICKY LANDELL(Landell pinned Orton with a Fisherman's Buster)Daytondave: Wow! That's an impressive start for the young fella. Landell took a serious beating from a tough guy, but came off the mat and created an opportunity to win the match. We'll see how far up the totem pole this guy can climb in the weeks ahead. All right, fans- this next match will be something unique. After everything that went down a couple of weeks ago at Heartland Havoc, ANTONIO INOKI has come over from Old School to work with his Japanese pals and help watch their backs. Of course, Inoki himself got into some issues with RICK RUDE! But tonight, his challenge will be much different. He'll be teaming with his countryman TIGER MASK in tag team action against a most unusual new combination. ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASK vs. DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHERIn a bizarre match, the Japanese duo went head to head with the unorthodox team of Necro and Delirious, and the action was slow-paced and deliberate for much of the early going. After several minutes of evenly matched action, Inoki took over on Delirious, and finally trapped him in an agonizing Octopus Hold. After a struggle, Delirious reached the ropes, but he was clearly spent. Inoki blasted him with an Enzuigiri, and only a last-minute pin save by Necro kept the match from ending. This brought Tiger Mask into the ring, and a four-way melee developed. Necro hammered Inoki, beating him through the ropes and sending him tumbling to the floor. Delirious launched himself onto Inoki with a suicide tope, leaving both men in a heap on the concrete. While Heather Owens put Tiger Mask out of the ring, Necro went to the floor and blasted Inoki with a powerbomb! Delirious barely beat the ten-count to return to the ring, but Inoki was unable to recovered and was counted out. WINNERS: DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER(Inoki counted out after a Power Bomb by Necro Butcher)Daytondave: Out of the frying pan and into the fryer, I suppose that's what they say. That's gotta hurt! As Delirious and Necro depart, Inoki comes to the announcers' table and takes the microphone. He is joined by Tiger Mask, and JUSHIN LIGER comes from the locker room to his side.Inoki: Ladies and gentlemen, it is my sad necessity to be here. This Warfare is not an honorable place, but my loyalty to Tiger and Thunder compels me. This man, this Necro Butcher, came on me like a man and tonight he was my better. But RICK RUDE, you and your Tradition friends are brutes without honor. I look to the day when our paths will cross and your fate will be written! Inoki politely hands the microphone back to Daytondave and takes a place at ringside to watch his compadre.JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER vs. STEVE CORINOLiger electrified the Sandusky crowd with an aerial blitzkrieg, flooring Corino with an amazing springboard moonsault and finishing him with a glorious Liger Dive to take an impressive victory. WINNER: JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER(Liger pinned Corino after a Liger Dive)Daytondave: Liger just continues to roll! He lost the lumberjack match, but he remains your Candy Cup holder and has put aside another challenger here tonight! THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE w/ TRINITY DENUCCI) vs. PELIGROSO (TITO SANTANA & PEPPER GOMEZ)In his return to the ring from injury, DDP looked sharp and the Rollers controlled much of the contest. Frequent tags and timely escapes by the Mexican team kept the match competitive until Page caught Tito with a swinging neckbreaker for a surprise pinfall! WINNERS: THE HIGH ROLLERS(Page pinned Santana with a Swinging Neckbreaker)Daytondave: Sure glad to see DDP back in action! Dude looked sharp tonight! Santana has been on a serious roll here lately, but Page put him down for the three-count. Now, fans, we have two key matches with belts at stake. First off, we'll check out two dudes hoping to qualify for the top belt on Warfare, the American Championship held by DANNY HODGE.WARFARE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: QUALIFYING MATCH CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. KONNAN (w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK)The fireworks in this match began even before the opening bell, as Konnan viciously attacked Claudio! Konnan carried the momentum through the entire match, as Claudio never really got untracked. Castagnoli managed to hold his own for a while, but Konnan kept the pressure on and finished the match decisively. WINNER: KONNAN(Konnan pinned Claudio after a Flying Cross-body block)Daytondave: Gees oh man, Konnan took care of business tonight! But Sweeney remains confident- he now has BUFF BAGWELL in line to face Konnan for the title shot. But Konnan has already tried and failed to knock off Hodge once, and you better believe he wants another shot at the gold! Now, fans, let's see who will move one step closer to a shot at the Heartland Tag Team Championship! HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: QUALIFYING MATCH BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG vs. THE BACKSEAT BOYZ (TRENT ACID & JOHNNY KASHMERE)The Armstrongs looked to be prohibitive favorites in this match, but a mistake by Brad proved to be costly when Trent Acid caught him climbing the turnbuckle and hurled him to the mat. Trent was quick to capitalize, hitting the stunned Brad with an Acid Drop for a pinfall! WINNERS: THE BACKSEAT BOYZ(Trent pinned Brad after an Acid Drop)Daytondave: What an explosive victory! These Backseat Boyz are young. They are inconsistent. But when they are on their game, they can take out anybody! And now, they're in line for a shot at THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA for an opportunity to become the top contenders to the Heartland Tag Team Titles! But now, fans, it's time for MIKE QUACKENBUSH to finally get his hands on CHRIS JERICHO! I hope that little punk gets what he has coming to him. He already lost the Midwest Championship, now let's see if Quack can take a little of his dignity to go with it! MAIN EVENT: NO DISQUALIFICATION GRUDGE MATCH MIKE QUACKENBUSH (w/ JUSHIN LIGER) vs. CHRIS JERICHO (w/ LANCE STORM)Quackenbush came out feisty, and took no lip from Jericho. Jericho fired off an impressive flurry in the early stages of the match, but Quack survived the onslaught and exploded off the ropes with a running palm strike to stun Jericho and turn the momentum of the match. Jericho tried to take the fight to the arena floor, but Quackenbush nailed him with a suicide tope which left both men laid out on the concrete. Quackenbush recovered first, and dumped Jericho back into the ring and finished him for a clean victory. WINNER: MIKE QUACKENBUSH(Quackenbush pinned Jericho after a Flying Spear)After the loss, Jericho went to the corner and slapped the turnbuckle in frustration. While Quackenbush and Liger celebrated, Jericho stalked out of the ring. Lance Storm came to the ring and tried to console him, but Jericho brushed past him and ran up the ring ramp and out of the arena.Daytondave: Awww... did little Chrissy get his feelings hurt? What a stinkin' shame. He lost his Midwest Championship and he got schooled by Quackenbush. Nice work, Quack! All right fans, we're done here! Thanks for joining us here at Warfare. It's been an exciting night! Congratulations to KONNAN and to THE BACKSEAT BOYZ for their big victories here this evening. Be sure to come back on Saturday for our next broadcast of Old School! Heartland Championship Wrestling Old School Saturday Night March 14, 2009 (Card #202) James A. Rhodes Arena, Akron, Ohio The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by Heartland Commissioner COUSIN LUKE. JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! It's 6:05 and we are live with an exciting night of action! The United States Tag Team CHampionship is at stake in tonight's main event, as BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG will defend the belts against ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE! But first, our esteemed Commissioner is here tonight to bring us a special announcement. Luke: Thanks, Jimmy! It shore is good to be back at Old School! But believe it or not, Jimmy, we got a paper view in just three weeks! We'll be headed back to the headquarters of the Heartland, where it all started, for Heartland Havoc XXV: Silver Anniversary Slamfest on April 4! JR: Fantastic news, Commissioner! Have we decided on a main event? Luke: Yer darn tootin'! We're still negotiatin' some of the matches, but we do know that the main event will be the fourth, and final, showdown for the Heartland Heavyweight Championship! We're gonna have us a best two out of three falls, no disqualification match between BRUISER BRODY 'n TAKESHI MORISHIMA!The fans erupt in cheers and chants for the announcement.JR: How about that, ladies and gentlemen? Brody versus Morishima- for the FOURTH time! Those two are so competitive- they never fail to bring the house down! I am sure that the Ervin J. Nutter Center will be packed to the rafters for that exciting evening! No question, we'll hear more about Havoc XXV as the date approaches. But tonight, fans, we are proud to introduce a brand new acquisition to Old School. Let's give a warm welcome to one of the great cruiserweight competitors in the history of the sport, ANTONINO ROCCA! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest! (Tonight's referee: Charles Robinson)ANTONINO ROCCA vs. THE IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)The shifty and elusive Rocca was no match for the brutality of the Iron Sheik. Sheik seemed to pleasure in torturing Rocca, holding him in a grinding Camel Clutch for several minutes, then dropping him repeatedly with the Sidewinder Suplex before finally pinning him. WINNER: THE IRON SHEIK(Sheik pinned Rocca after a Sidewinder Suplex)JR: Welcome to Old School, Mr. Rocca. No question, this Argentinian dervish will prove to be a formidable foe for the cruiserweights, but tonight he was in there with one of the big boys and Sheik took the measure of him. Now, ladies and gentlemen, we'll see a renewal of a great rivalry dating back to the days of the old Dayton Wrestling Association! JOHNNY VALENTINE vs. THE DESTROYERIn another classic matchup between respected rivals, Valentine and Destroyer went at it with tremendous intensity. Multiple reversals were beautifully executed by both men. Destroyer nearly had Valentine beaten with a Figure-4, but Johnny made it to the ropes and forced the break. Valentine finally turned the momentum in his favor, and went to work on Destroyer with his vaunted Atomic Skullcrusher. It took three tries, but Valentine finally put Destroyer down for the cover. ( Fatigue tokens: Valentine 4, Destroyer 7)WINNER: JOHNNY VALENTINE(Valentine pinned Destroyer after an Atomic Skullcrusher)JR: What a tremendous contest! True to the Old School fashion, both these men are masters of their craft indeed. Another master of his craft is HARLEY RACE, who remains a little banged up after his Taped Fist match against KING KONG BUNDY last week. The road doesn't get any easier for Harley tonight, as he moves out against a very formidable foe. HARLEY RACE (w/ SENSATIONAL SHERRI MARTEL) vs. DON LEO JONATHANRace was clearly weakened in this contest, but battled gamely against his powerful Mormon foe. Sherri did her best to help Race, distracting Charles Robinson to assist Race in escaping a Mormon Swing. But the power of Jonathan proved to be too much, and Race succumbed after a protracted struggle. WINNER: DON LEO JONATHAN(Jonathan pinned Race after a Giant Swing)JR: Who wouldn't love to see these two men battle at full strength? I am sure that Race would relish the opportunity, and indeed so would Jonathan. But on this night, Jonathan did what he needed to do and came away victorious. THE VACHON BROTHERS (BUTCHER & MAD DOG w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. THE FLYING REDHEADS (RED BASTIEN & BILLY RED LYONS)The Vachons simply brutalized the Redheads, focusing their aggressions on Lyons and destroying him with barely a sweat. WINNERS: THE VACHON BROTHERS(Mad Dog pinned Lyons after a Piledriver)JR: What a vicious combination! No question, these brothers are dangerous. They have already put LARRY HENNIG on the shelf with their wanton acts of violence. Tonight, Billy Red Lyons was fortunate not to be the next on that list. The action won't get any prettier in this next contest, either. THE CRUSHER (w/ SENSATIONAL SHERRI MARTEL) vs. KING KONG BUNDY (w/ JIM CORNETTE)On the heels of his win over Harley Race, Bundy was hell bent on destroying The Crusher! It didn't take long for his onslaught to materialize, as Charles Robinson found himself in the path of a turnbuckle splash and went down hard. In an instant, BOBBY EATON and STAN LANE stormed the ring, and Cornette's men launched a three-on-one assault on the Crusher! The Crusher fought back gamely, but the numbers game got the best of him and the Midnights drove him shoulder-first into the ring post! Sherri screamed for help, and HARLEY RACE and NICK PATRICK rushed to ringside. Cornette and his men scattered, but the damage had been done. While Race and Sherri assisted Crusher, Nick Patrick went to the announcers' table and informed JR that Bundy had been disqualified. WINNER: THE CRUSHER(Bundy disqualified for outside interference)JR: The war between Sherri and Cornette wages on, and we have seen another apparent casualty. Crusher is your winner by disqualification here this evening... but at what price? That remains to be seen, ladies and gentlemen. Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, it appears that Crusher is not the only victim- Charles Robinson is being helped back to the locker room after taking that splash from Bundy. While we are waiting, let's go backstage and catch up with our man behind the scenes, 'WILDMAN' BUTCH MICHAELS.Butch: Thank you, JR. It's great to be back! I have a special guest backstage who has agreed to an interview. He is one-half of one of the hottest tag teams in the Heartland! Team Canada is preparing to challenge for the United States Tag Team Championship, and it is largely the genius of this man, THE MOUNTIE, that has led this team to the verge of greatness! Mountie, give us your thoughts about tonight's title match. Mountie: Oh, Canada! Our home and native land! Mr. Michaels, how fitting it will be for Angelo Mosca and me to win the championship- the UNITED STATES championship- and return the belts to our glorious mother land! A commotion arises behind The Mountie, and RICK RUDE and SO CAL VAL dash onto the scene.Butch: Rick Rude? What are you doing here? I thought you and Val were headed to Japan! Rude: Japan? No way! Me and Val will NEVER let that bozo ROB BENNETT ship us off to Japan. Mountie- you gotta help us! Can you give me directions to Canada? Maybe we can find some draft dodgers up there to hide us! Help a brother out, dude! Mountie: Draft dodgers? How dare you! I will have you know, sir, that Canada does not welcome draft dodgers. The beautiful north will not be insulted by such language. We only welcome Conscientious Objectors. Rude: Yeah, yeah, that's it. Can I get directions? Help me out and I'll pay you a thousand pesos. Mountie: Pesos? Are you nuts? Good sir, I have a title match to attend to! We can discuss your predicament after the match. Mountie brushes past Rude, followed by Mosca, as the Canadian team heads to the ring. JR: What on earth was that? Rick Rude showing up at Old School? What a bizarre turn of events indeed. Let's head back to the ring for tonight's main event- our United States Tag Team Championship match! UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG (c) vs. THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCAThe Canadians took the fight to the Armstrongs from the opening bell! Mosca leveled Brad with a powerful running clothesline, and caught a near fall right at the opening hookup! Mosca continued his attack on Brad, wearing him down and tagging in to Mountie. Mountie tied Brad up in a punishing Boston Crab, leaving the young Armstrong desperately clawing his way to the ropes. But as the hold continued, RICK RUDE dashed to ringside. BIG JIM THE ENFORCER hit the scene, attempting to clear Rude out of the arena. In desperation, Rude grabbed the Shock Stick from ringside! But Rude was unable to figure out the mechanics of the shock stick before Big Jim was on him. So, Rude simply drew back and slammed the shock stick over the head of Big Jim! The stick broke into hundreds of tiny pieces. Big Jim was staggered, and Rude quickly dashed out of the ring area!Back in the ring, Brad finally managed to reach the bottom rope. Nick Patrick forced Mountie to break the hold, and Mountie turned around to see his broken shock stick on the arena floor! The distraction allowed Brad to escape and tag in to Bob Armstrong. Mosca alertly tagged himself into the match and engaged in a fierce brawl with Bob. Mosca dominated the action, pounding on Armstrong with punches before dropping him with a football tackle. Mosca then loaded up his elbow pad and executed a pair of Big Nasty Elbow Drops on Bob, and it looked like the titles were in jeopardy when Mosca went for the cover! But Brad alertly made the save. Mountie hit the ring, and soon all four men were brawling! Mosca clotheslined Bob out of the ring, then caught him with another Big Nasty Elbow Drop on the arena floor. The elder Armstrong went down like a log, and was unable to return to the ring ahead of the ten count. WINNERS: ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE(Bob Armstrong counted out after an Elbow Drop on the arena floor)BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG RETAIN THE UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPJR: That Rick Rude is a shameless character, no question. Interrupting a championship match? That is unpardonable. I guess Rude felt safe here since ANTONIO INOKI went to Warfare. But I am not sure if he made any friends here at Old School- he broke Mountie's Shock Stick! In spite of that, Team Canada wins tonight's main event. Even though the Armstrongs hold onto the belts, Mountie and Mosca will get another shot at the belts in the future. A disappointing conclusion to tonight's match, but we may be seeing a great rivalry developing. That will wrap things up for tonight, folks. Be sure to come back on Wednesday night for our next broadcast of Warfare. DAYTONDAVE and his misfits will be at it again, with a show featuring BUFF BAGWELL and KONNAN in your main event! Heartland Championship Wrestling Wednesday Night Warfare March 18, 2009 (Card #203) Ernsthausen Community Center, Norwalk, Ohio The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring with a microphone. The tune, "Livin' On The Edge" by Aerosmith wails over the sound system as the crowd cheers the opening of the show. Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome to Heartland Championship Wrestling! Daytondave and the boys are comin' back at ya with another hot night of action! You heard it here on Saturday night- we're coming up on Heartland Havoc XXV: Silver Anniversary Slamfest which will be headed your way in a few short weeks. And for a HOT show like Havoc XXV, we have the hottest rock band in history signed on to provide our theme song! Aerosmith still rocks after all these years, and we will be Livin' On The Edge on Saturday night, April 4 from the Nut House in Dayton! But for tonight, fans, we're here in the bustling metropolis of Norwalk with some hot Heartland action. We're gonna see the Candy Cup defended right here tonight, when the cup holder, JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER defends against the former cup holder, MIKE QUACKENBUSH. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show! (Tonight's referee: Heather Owens)RICKY LANDELL vs. THE SANDMAN (w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY)Landell dazzled the Warfare fan base for the second straight week! The contest was evenly matched for much of the early going, until DRAKE YOUNGER and JUSTIN CREDIBLE came to ringside to support Sandman! But Landell would not be distracted, and managed to escape an attempted ambush by Younger, forcing Heather to send both members of Bloodlust back to the dressing area! As Younger departed, Credible managed to nail Landell with a cheap shot and put him on the canvas! Timely distraction from Jonny Fairplay prevented Heather Owens from seeing the infraction, and the match continued. Despite the blow, Landell fought his way back, dodging a deathjump to take control of the contest. From there, Landell never looked back. It took a protracted series of moves, but Landell finally finished off Sandman as the crowd roared its approval. WINNER: RICKY LANDELL(Landell pinned Sandman with the Fisherman Buster)Daytondave: How about that, sports fans! Two weeks in a row, Ricky Landell has put two tough opponents down with his Fisherman Buster! The crowd is into this kid, and the future looks bright. Last week, it was BOB ORTON who took the fall. Let's see if his luck improves here tonight. COWBOY BOB ORTON (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. TOM PRICHARDAfter a protracted struggle, Orton overpowered Prichard and beat him cleanly. WINNER: COWBOY BOB ORTON(Orton pinned Prichard after a Death Valley Driver)Daytondave: Not much competition from Prichard. This guy is in over his head here at Warfare. Dude needs to show me something if he wants to have his contract renewed. As Prichard leaves the ring, RICK RUDE dashes in and meets him at ringside.Rude: Hey, buddy! Give me a hand here! Prichard: Excuse me? Rude: Are you a doctor? Prichard: That's me, baby! The Doctor of Desire! Rude: No, you idiot! I need your help. You got any cash? You doctors always carry cash. I need some gas money to get to Canada. Prichard holds his hands out to the sides.Prichard: Dude, I just wrestled a match. Do I look like I'm carrying any cash? Even if I were, pal, I wouldn't be handing it out to freeloaders. Rude: Don't get smart with me, wise guy. Do you know who the hell I am? Prichard: If you were anybody important, you wouldn't be heading to Canada. What's so important up there? Suddenly, the music of ANTONIO INOKI plays overhead. Rude looks startled and dashes out of the arena, just before Inoki and TIGER MASK make their way to the ring. Prichard looks befuddled as he scratches his head and departs.ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASK vs. BLOODLUST (JUSTIN CREDIBLE & DRAKE YOUNGER w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY)Inoki may have barely missed a confrontation with Rude, but his encounter with the team of Bloodlust was no picnic. Justin Credible brutalized Tiger Mask with the Singapore cane, then Drake Younger smashed a light tube across Inoki's back. Once again, quick thinking by Jonny Fairplay allowed Bloodlust to distract Heather Owens and avoid the disqualification. Enraged, Inoki set himself after Younger, striking back at Drake with his own light tube. This time, Heather caught the infraction and called for the bell, disqualifying Inoki for the use of the foreign object! WINNERS (via disqualification): BLOODLUST(Inoki disqualified for use of a foreign object)Daytondave: What the hell just happened? Inoki got disqualified? ( Laughs) You never know what you're going to see on Warfare, fans. Antonio Inoki is one of the most honorable men in wrestling, but maybe not one of the brightest. Score one for Jonny Fairplay and his team, as Bloodlust comes away with a tainted victory. MIL MASCARAS vs. STEVE CORINOMascaras dominated the contest from the opening bell. Corino barely got any offense in before Mil finished him decisively. WINNER: MIL MASCARAS(Mascaras pinned Corino after a Flying Bodypress)Daytondave: Fans, that was a textbook exhibition by Mascaras. He can fly, he can mat wrestle, he can do it all. Kudos to Mascaras for that impressive win! All right, fans, our next match will feature two tag teams who have hit some rough times lately. THE HIGH ROLLERS are just getting back to action after an injury suffered by DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE. The Rollers have a long-standing rivalry with THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS, but the Outlaws have also been facing trouble since they were trounced in their HCW Tag Team Championship shot. But it appears that the Outlaws made a good decision by hiring SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK to guide their careers. Humperdink has the boys on the same page now, and we'll see how they fare against their old rivals here tonight. THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS (KIP & BG JAMES w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK) vs. THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE w/ TRINITY DENUCCI)The return of the Outlaws was cut short by Diamond Dallas, who dominated Kip James and pinned him with a Russian Leg Sweep! WINNERS: THE HIGH ROLLERS(Page pinned Kip after a Russian Leg Sweep)After the match, tempers again flared between Kip and BG. Humperdink tried to step between them, but Kip poked BG in the chest and BG shoved him away. Before the confrontation could escalate, LARRY SWEENEY strutted down to ringside!Sweeney: Boys, boys, boys! What seems to be the trouble here? You don't mean to tell me that the greatest tag team in Heartland history suddenly can't get along? There must be something we can do about that! You need career help? Super Agent Larry Sweeney at your service! Humperdink: Get out of here, Sweeney, you little fuzzy-headed prick. This doesn't concern you! Sweeney smirks and pulls a stack of business cards from his jacket. He offers a card to BG, who tears it up and throws it into the air. Kip accepts the card, prompting BG to poke him in the chest and raise his hands in bewilderment. Sweeney patted Kip on the back, but Humperdink stepped between them, brushed past Sweeney coldly, and headed back to the locker room as BG followed.Daytondave: Whoa! Looks like all is still not well in the land of the Outlaws! And leave it to Larry Sweeney to stir things up. Will Kip James sign on with Sweet and Sour, Incorporated? We'll have to wait and see, I guess. What we will see next is whether Sweeney can manage BUFF BAGWELL to a shot at the American Heavyweight Championship. AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCHBUFF BAGWELL (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. KONNANBagwell strutted and flexed his way past Konnan. After an evenly matched opening series, Bagwell took the match out of the ring and powerbombed Konnan onto the arena fllor. Konnan managed to slide back into the ring ahead of the 10-count, but was never the same after the bone-jarring manuver and Bagwell finished him off in style. WINNER: BUFF BAGWELL(Bagwell pinned Konnan with a Buff Blockbuster)Daytondave: A strong performance by Buff Bagwell! Bagwell has earned his way to a title shot against DANNY HODGE. How he will fare against the dominant American Heavyweight Champion is anybody's guess. Now, fans, the Main Event match we have been waiting for- the Candy Cup Cruiserweight rematch! MAIN EVENT: CANDY CUP CRUISERWEIGHT CHALLENGEJUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER vs. MIKE QUACKENBUSHThe match was nowhere near as competitive as the previous bout, as Liger dominated the contest and pinned Quack cleanly after a pair of Fisherman's Busters/ WINNER: JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER(Liger pinned Quackenbush with a Fisherman's Buster)JUSHIN LIGER RETAINS THE JOHN CANDY MEMORIAL CRUISERWEIGHT CUPDaytondave: Liger was in total control of that match. That's pretty darned impressive against a top cruiserweight like Mike Quackenbush. Congratulations to Liger for retaining the Candy Cup! All right, fans, we're done here. Havoc XXV will be on us before you know it! Brody and Morishima are all set for their final championship showdown, but we have a lot more business to settle between now and April 4. You won't believe what JR JAMES has scheduled for Old School this Saturday night! Two out of three falls for the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship- JIMMY SNUKA vs. NICK BOCKWINKEL! Heartland Championship Wrestling Old School Saturday Night March 21, 2009 (Card #204) Beeghley Center, Youngstown, Ohio The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring to address the crowd. JR: Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! It is our privilege to be joining you here from Youngstown, Ohio, the home town of RAY 'BOOM-BOOM' MANCINI, BERNIE KOSAR, and JIM TRESSEL, and the site of many great wrestling events over the years. And tonight promises to rank right up there with the greatest bouts in Heartland Championship Wrestling history. Tonight, right here in the Beeghley Center, the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship will be decided as NICK BOCKWINKEL defends the title in a two out of three falls showdown against the former champion, JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA! These two men have met twice before, and each has come away victorious. This evening, the issue will be settled once and for all, with the Great Lakes title belt as the spoils. And in addition, we have a loaded undercard for you as well. Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest! (Tonight's referee: Nick Patrick)'SWEET' STAN LANE (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK)Lane did everything in his power to neutralize the power of Brazil. But, despite several flurries by Sweet Stan, Bobo finally caught him and planted him with a Coco Butt for the pinfall. WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL(Brazil pinned Lane after a Coco Butt)JR: Not a surprising outcome in that match. The only surprise was how well Lane fared against the powerhouse. And now, fans, let's welcome the hottest new manager in Old School as SENSATIONAL SHERRI MARTEL has signed on to manage two of the toughest hombres around. The tune, "Barracuda" by Heart plays overhead and the dynamic Sherri emerges at the top of the ring ramp. Sherri parts the curtain and HARLEY RACE emerges. Race is still sporting a nasty scar on his scalp in the aftermatch of his Taped Fist match against KING KONG BUNDY. Undaunted, Race and Sherri hit the ring to the cheers of the crowd.HARLEY RACE (w/ SHERRI MARTEL) vs. DON MURACORace continued to struggle with his injury, and Muraco took full advantage. Muraco pounded away at Harley, opening him up early in the match. Sherri did her best to support Race, but before long her antics grew tiresome and Nick Patrick ejected her from ringside! Muraco viciously gouged Race across the forehead with the Asiatic Spike, and with Race a bloody mess, Muraco put him down for the three-count. WINNER: DON MURACO(Muraco pinned Race with a Piledriver)As Race exited the ring with assistance from Sherri, JIM CORNETTE came to the top of the ring ramp with a microphone. Cornette: Uh, Sherri darling? NICE TRY! But I'm afraid that your man Harley just isn't quite the same after the beating that Bundy gave him. Maybe you won the little battle at the last Heartland Havoc, but Old School is *MY* world, missy, and you and your dimwitted minions had better think twice about messing with us! As Cornette finishes his rant, Sherri begins to make her way up the ring ramp, assisting Race. Cornette quickly drops the microphone and scurries through the curtain and out of harm's way.JR: A rough night indeed for Harley Race. Bundy has certainly weakened Race, but sometimes a cornered animal can be the most dangerous of all. Deep down, I think Cornette understands that, and he certainly proved that discretion is the better part of valor when he made his hasty departure. Whether he will get his ultimate comeuppance remains to be seen. Next week, ladies and gentlemen, Old School will bring you a United States Heavyweight Championship match, as the champion, RAY STEVENS, defends his title against the number one contender, the Japanese icon, GIANT BABA. Let's take a look at Baba in a match-up against THE IRON SHEIK. IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. GIANT BABAThe "tune-up" match for Baba turned out to be a little more than he expected. Baba took a shot from the Sheik's loaded boot in the early going, then found himself on the receiving end of a Sidewinder for a near-fall! But Baba kept his poise and battled back, dropping the Sheik with a mighty Chop. After a devastating Neckbreaker Drop, it looked like curtains for Sheik, but Breznikov interrupted the count of Nick Patrick and the match continued. Sheik dumped Baba to the ring floor, and rammed his head into the steel rails. Patrick decided he had seen enough and disqualified Sheik for the infraction. WINNER: (via disqualification): GIANT BABA(Sheik disqualified for an attack outside the ring)JR: Oh, my goodness! Baba was lucky to get away with his skull intact from that situation. He is your winner by disqualification, and fortunately, he appears to be all right. I believe he will be fine for his title match next week, and there is no question that the champion Stevens will have his hands full. What's that? Fans, I have just been informed that there is a disturbance in the back stage area. WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS- what's going on back there? Butch: JR, I have NO explanation for this- but RICK RUDE is back here and he has lost his mind! He claims to be looking for THE MOUNTIE about heading on a trip to Canada. But as soon as GIANT BABA came backstage, Rude has gone berserk! He has locked himself in the janitor's closet, but he continues to rant and rave about something. We can't hear him clearly, but I believe he has a cell phone back there with him. Sounds like he's screaming at someone named Adam, but we can't be sure. JR: Thank you for the update, Butch. Please keep us posted if there are any further developments. Ladies and gentlemen, as you know, Rick Rude is on the lam, and trying to prevent ROB BENNETT from sending him to Japan! Perhaps he is trying to reach out to his tag team partner, ADAM PEARCE, for help. So far, he has tried without success to get assistance from TOM PRICHARD and from THE MOUNTIE. What will happen next is anybody's guess. We'll keep an eye on Rude, ladies and gentlemen, but for the moment, we need to get back to the ring for our next match. CURT HENNIG vs. THE CRUSHER (w/ SHERRI MARTEL)The match between Hennig and Crusher was a textbook contrast in styles. Hennig opened the match with a flurry, sending the Crusher reeling with knee lifts and dropkicks. Curt nailed the Hennig Plex, but interference from Sherri again saved her man from defeat. Crusher battled back, taking the action to the ring floor and pummeling Hennig from pillar to post. Hennig was gassed, and Crusher finished him off with the Stomach Claw. WINNER: THE CRUSHER(Crusher forced Hennig to submit to the Stomach Claw)JR: What a fine contest indeed between two reluctant heroes in the Old School. Looks like THE CRUSHER is headed our way! Crusher, Sir, what is on your mind? Crusher: What's on my mind? JR, do you believe that numbskull JIM CORNETTE wants to come out here and insult the dignity of such a fine dame as MISS SHERRI? I guess one whoopin' weren't enough for you, pal? Now youse lissen to me. We got another Heartland Havoc comin' real soon. Hows about you, KING KONG BUNDY and JIM CORNETTE, settle things once and for all with me and Miss Sherri? Crusher drops the microphone and walks away.JR: How about that, ladies and gentlemen? Crusher has challenged Bundy to a mixed tag team match at Heartland Havoc! We'll need an answer from Bundy and Cornette- we'll just see if they will be willing to get back in the ring against Crusher and Sherri! THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & 'JUMPIN' JIM BRUNZELL) vs. BRUTUS 'THE GEEK' BEEFCAKE & GREG 'THE HAMMER' VALENTINETwo of the classic teams of the 80's went at it in a grueling battle. Frequent tags and crisp execution by both teams kept the bout competitive until Valentine took over on Brunzell. Two painful applications of the Figure-4 neutralized Jumpin' Jim, forcing him to tag out to Blair. The Dream Team duo methodically worked Blair over until Beefcake was able to put him down for the three-count. WINNERS: BRUTUS BEEFCAKE & GREG VALENTINE(Beefcake pinned Blair with a Flying Knee Smash)JR: A very solid match between two seasoned teams, but there is no question that the totem pole is formidable here in the tag team ranks of the Old School. Now, fans, it is finally time to see one of the most anticipated match-ups of 2009 here in Old School. These two men have battled back and forth, with the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship at stake. And tonight, two great legends of the sport will meet in a best two out of three falls matchup to determine once and for all- who is the better man? Will it be NICK BOCKWINKEL? Or the 'SUPERFLY' JIMMY SNUKA? Let's head back to the ring for tonight's Main Event! As the participants are introduced, the scene cuts to the service entrance to the Beeghley Center. A black van appears, and drives slowly to the entrance. OLD SCHOOL GREAT LAKES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS NICK BOCKWINKEL (c) vs. JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKAFirst Fall: Bockwinkel got the jump on Snuka and put him down early with a Boston Crab. Snuka survived the hold and managed to fight back, but was unable to to any significant damage before Bockwinkel locked in the Sleeper and forced Snuka to submit. Snuka staggered to the corner, dazed, as Nick Patrick timed the one-minute break between falls. Before the match resumed, another commotion arose from backstage! ADAM PEARCE, accompanied by CHRIS JERICHO and LANCE STORM, pounded away at the janitor's closet with a sledgehammer, finally breaking the door open and freeing Rick Rude! The four men dashed through the halls and emerged at the top of the ring ramp! Just as Patrick was about to call for the bell, the four Tradition invaders hit the ring and assaulted both competitors! Rude dumped Snuka out of the ring, while the other three men went to work on Bockwinkel. Despite his best efforts, Bockwinkel was already winded and quickly found himself a victim of the numbers game. Pearce picked up Bockwinkel in a piledriver position, and Jericho and Storm came off the middle rope to assist Pearce in dropping Bockwinkel with a thunderous Spike Piledriver! Bockwinkel crashed to the canvas hard, and lay motionless in the corner. Heartland Security forces, led by BIG JIM THE ENFORCER, stormed the ring, prompting Pearce and his allies to scatter. JR: Are you kidding me? These unwanted scoundrels from Tradition have raided the Old School! Bockwinkel is in bad shape, fans. It looks like Pearce and his squadron have jumped into a van and departed from the arena. This match is unable to be completed, and Nick Patrick has declared this bout a "No Contest". No question, ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the most reprehensible acts I've seen in the history of Heartland Wrestling. This was supposed to be a historic night and a historic match, but I am afraid that simply will not come to pass here this evening. It looks like the paramedics will need to be summoned for Mr. Bockwinkel, so we are going to clear the arena and call it a night. My deepest apologies, ladies and gentlemen, for the outcome of this evening's events. We'll get the things situated here, and we will be back in action next week. I'm sure we'll have some announcements about this situation, the Great Lakes title, and the future of the Heartland's working agreement with Tradition Wrestling. Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State! Heartland Championship Wrestling Wednesday Night Warfare March 25, 2009 (Card #205) The Renaissance, Mansfield, Ohio The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring holding a microphone. The tune, "Livin' On The Edge" by Aerosmith wails through the arena as the crowd buzzes.Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome back to HCW Wednesday Night Warfare! Daytondave and the boys of the Heartland are back with another great might of professional wrestling action! This is the last episode of Warfare before the big pay-per-view. That's right, fans, Heartland Havoc XXV: Silver Anniversary Slamfest is just 10 days away! It will be the fourth- and final- confrontation between BRUISER BRODY and TAKESHI MORISHIMA with the Heartland Heavyweight Championship on the line! The Heartland Tag Team Championship will also be defended at Havoc, when OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO will take on the winner of tonight's #1 Contenders' Match. Also, right here tonight, the American Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when the champion, DANNY HODGE, defends his title against BUFF BAGWELL. We've got a lot going on here tonight, fans. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show! (Tonight's referee: Joe Kopasz)LARRY SWEENEY struts to the ring with CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI as the tune "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel plays overhead. Sweeney has the arm of KIP JAMES, and is pulling Kip to ringside. Sweeney talks with great animation as he tries to sell Kip on the idea of joining Sweet and Sour, Inc.CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. DANNY DORINGPerhaps Claudio was distracted by the presence of Kip at ringside. At the opening bell, Doring belted Claudio with a clothesline, then dropped him with a Bareback and pinned him cleanly! WINNER: DANNY DORING(Doring pinned Castagnoli with a Bareback)Kip James looked on, and shook his head in disbelief. He turned in disgust and walked up the ramp. Sweeney pursued him closely, still talking a blue streak and trying to convince Kip to join his faction. Claudio remained in the ring, dumbfounded in the throes of defeat.Daytondave: Hello? Earth to Larry Sweeney? Dude, your crown jewel just got beat by a jabroni in under one minute. Larry Sweeney had better be more focused than that when he brings BUFF BAGWELL out tonight for his title match! DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER vs. THE HEADSHRINKERS (SAMU & ALOFA)The goofy antics of Delirious and Necro were just too much for the Headshrinkers. Samu found himself trapped in the opposing corner, where Necro beat him down and Delirious finished him off decisively. WINNERS: DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER(Delirious pinned Samu after a Shadows Over Hell)Daytondave: Ooookay... Looks like these two soulmates have found each other! The Headshrinkers were completely befuddled after that match, and frankly, so am I. SABU vs. IVAN KOLOFFIn a brief, but brutal match, Koloff pounded at Sabu with his chain but could not finish him off. Not to be outdone, Sabu fired back with the Arabian Facebuster and Koloff went down hard! Sabu was immediately on him with the Camel Clutch and Koloff was unable to escape. WINNER: SABU(Sabu forced Koloff to submit to the Camel Clutch)Daytondave: What a fiasco! Those are two of the most vicious and heartless men you'll ever see. Both those men are lucky to have gotten out of that situation in one piece. And it ain't about to get any prettier when these next two hit the ring. DAN SEVERN vs. THE MISSING LINKThis match was less of a crazed frenzy than the previous two, as Severn smartly kept Link grounded and set him up beautifully with the Fireman's Carry Slam to deliver the finish. WINNER: DAN SEVERN(Severn forced Link to submit to the Wakigatame)Daytondave: Strong work by Severn. Link's Combat Championship was not on the line in that match- but if it were, I am sure we would have seen a much different level of intensity from the Missing Link. HEARTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH THE BACKSEAT BOYZ (JOHNNY KASHMERE & TRENT ACID) vs. TEAM CANADA (THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA)The Canadian duo was masterful in the Contenders' Match! Mountie wore out Acid with an agonizing Boston Crab to set the tone for the match. Both Canadians worked over Kashmere until he could barely move. Acid recovered enough to save Kashmere from a pinning predicament, but Mosca caught the Boyz for a double noggin-knocker which but Acid out of commission and set up Mountie for a clean pinfall. WINNERS: TEAM CANADA(Mountie pinned Kashmere with a Short Choke Slam)Daytondave: Congratulations to Team Canada! Mountie and Mosca are headed to Havoc XXV for a shot at the Heartland Tag Team Champions! These two men have melded very well as a unit, and they are sure to be dangerous competition to OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO in the title match. Now, fans, it's time for our Main Event! Can BUFF BAGWELL dethrone the American Heavyweight Championship? Let's check it out! MAIN EVENT: WARFARE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP DANNY HODGE (c) vs. BUFF BAGWELL (w/ LARRY SWEENEY)Hodge was clearly the better man in this contest, outfoxing Bagwell at every turn. Timely interference by Sweeney allowed Buff to get a brief flurry of offense, but Bagwell was unable to put Hodge away. The champion battled back to regain control of the bout, then he sent Sweeney scurrying away from ringside. Buff was too weak to capitalize on the distraction, and it didn't take long for Hodge to finish him off. WINNER: DANNY HODGE(Hodge pinned Bagwell with an Oklahoma Side Roll)DANNY HODGE RETAINS THE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPDaytondave: Fans, ain't no doubt about it. Danny Hodge is a man's man. It's gonna take some serious kahones for somebody to get that American Heavyweight Championship belt off his waist. Rough night for Larry Sweeney and his crew. Both Bagwell and Claudio came up short in the ring, and it looks like KIP JAMES was not even a little bit impressed. All right, fans- we're done here! Congratulations to TEAM CANADA for qualifying for the Tag Title match at Heartland Havoc XXV. We'll see you down in Dayton at the Nut House for the big show next Saturday Night! But don't forget to tune in this weekend to check out my boy JR JAMES and the Old School broadcast. RAY STEVENS is defensing the United States Championship in the main event against GIANT BABA. Could be a very dangerous opponent for the champ, so be sure and check out that match! Until then, fans, that's our show, and I AM OUTTA HERE! Heartland Championship Wrestling Old School Saturday Night March 28, 2009 (Card #206) Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by HCW Commissioner COUSIN LUKE. The mood is somber as JR addresses the crowd.JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! Heartland Championship Wrestling is proud to be back with another evening of first-rate wrestling action. We are one week away from Heartland Havoc XXV: Silver Anniversary Slamfest, as HCW returns to the center of it all, the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio! But all is not well here at Old School. As I am sure you may recall, our last broadcast was marred by a shocking assault, perpetrated by the unwanted scoundrels from Tradition. That attack appears to have put both JIMMY SNUKA and NICK BOCKWINKEL out of action, and left the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship in limbo. As a result of that situation, our esteemed Commissioner is here this evening with a special announcement. Luke: Thank you, Jimmy. Folks, after the match last week, both Jimmy Snuka 'n Nicky Bockwinkel done got injured. As of now, we ain't got no Great Lakes Champion. After Heartland Havoc, we'll set down and figger out what to do 'bout that. We're right sorry 'bout that, folks, but we got a great show fer y'all tonite and we got a super-duper paper-view ready fer next week! JR: I must say, Mr. Commissioner, that I expected such an announcement here this evening. But the show must go on! The Old School's most prestigious title will be on the line tonight, when RAY STEVENS defends the United States Heavyweight Championship against GIANT BABA in what promises to be a spectacular Main Event. Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest! (Tonight's referee: Nick Patrick)DICK HUTTON vs. ANTONINO ROCCAIn a duel of contrasting styles, Hutton controlled much of the action with his ground-and-pound tactics. But the explosiveness of Rocca ultimately decided the contest, as the Argentinian unleashed several quick flurries and scored a pinfall with an impressive combination. WINNER: ANTONINO ROCCA(Rocca pinned Hutton with a Victory Roll)JR: Wow! A very surprising outcome indeed to that match. I must confess, Rocca really showed me something with his ability to absorb punishment and come back for victory. KING KONG BUNDY (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. THE DESTROYERThe combination of Bundy and Cornette proved to be lethal for the Destroyer. Destroyer held his own with Bundy in the ring, but when action spilled outside, Cornette was able to distract Nick Patrick and allow his man to whip Destroyer into the steel post. This set the stage for Bundy to finish with an Avalanche and a 5-count. WINNER: KING KONG BUNDY(Bundy pinned Destroyer after an Avalanche)After the decision, THE CRUSHER, HARLEY RACE, & SHERRI MARTEL came to the top of the ramp.Crusher: Maybe you ain't so dumb after all Bundy. Youse gots that slob Cornette guy to watch your back. But don't you forget Heartland Havoc next week, cause me and Miss Sherri are gonna break you! Cornette stands in the ring, dumbfounded, as Sherri leads her men back to the locker room.JR: An ominous warning from The Crusher! Remember, fans, it will be Crusher and Sherri Martel in mixed tag team action against Bundy and Cornette next Saturday night at Havoc! Sherri got the best of Cornette on one previous occasion, and there is no question she would relish the opportunity to give Cornette another whoopin'. Also on the card at Havoc, the Heartland Tag Team Championship will be up for grabs when the champions, OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO, face off against TEAM CANADA. We'll take a look at the Canadian duo in this next contest as they prepare for their title shot with some stiff competition. TEAM CANADA (ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE) vs. HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN & STEVE 'DR. DEATH' WILLIAMSThe teamwork of the Canadians was on full display in their victory over Williams and Duggan. Even more surprisingly, Mountie unveiled a new, improved Shock Stick! With Mosca tying up Nick Patrick, Mountie blasted Dr. Death with the shock stick and pinned him after a short choke slam. WINNERS: TEAM CANADA(Mountie pinned Williams after a Short Choke Slam)After the match, Mountie climbed to the middle turnbuckle and gestured with his hands around his waist as the crowd jeered.JR: That, ladies and gentlemen, is a dangerous team indeed. Mountie is clearly sending a message to the Heartland Tag Team Champions in preparation for next week's championship match. But somehow, I don't think Bobby Heenan will allow his men to be distracted or intimidated by tonight's Canadian show of force. Did I just say Canadian show of force? What was I thinking? All right, ladies and gentlemen, I have just gotten an update on the Bockwinkel and Snuka situation. Bockwinkel has been laid up with a neck injury, and it appears that he will be out of action for several weeks. But evidently, Snuka has expressed a desire to return to action right here tonight! The fans cheer wildly as JIMMY SNUKA emerges through the curtain! He acknowledges the fans, and makes his way gingerly to the ring.JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA vs. MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ SLICK)Snuka was still a step slow against the Superstar, and paid the price. Snuka managed a couple of dynamic flurries, but Superstar wore him down and pinned him after a brief struggle. WINNER: MASKED SUPERSTAR(Superstar pinned Snuka after a Superstar Clothesline)JR: An unfortunate occurrence indeed for the popular Superfly. But Jimmy is dedicated to his sport and to his fans, and if he can run, walk, or crawl to that ring, you can bet your bottom dollar he will be out there competing. But Masked Superstar is a man who asks for no quarter and gives none. And on this night, Superstar is your winner. Our next match, ladies and gentlemen, has championship implications as two of the top stars of the Old School hook up for an important confrontation. JOHNNY VALENTINE vs. DON LEO JONATHANThe intensity level rose a notch when these two legends hit the ring. Valentine took Jonathan to the mat and punished him with repeated applications of the abdominal stretch. But Jonathan battled back, pitching Valentine off the top turnbuckle and overpowering him with a swinging full nelson. Valentine was in trouble, and took the match to the ring floor. Jonathan got the best of the first exchange, sending Valentine careening into the security railing with a thunderous atomic drop. The violence escalated, and Nick Patrick struggled to get the action under control. Valentine staggered back into the ring, but Jonathan shoved Patrick aside, grabbed Valentine by the leg, and hauled him back to the arena floor to continue the brawl. Patrick tumbled to the floor, and immediately sprang to his feet and called for the disqualification. WINNER (via disqualification): JOHNNY VALENTINE(Jonathan disqualified for shoving the referee)JR: Now, gentlemen, let's not let this situation get out of hand! This is Old School! We are about competition here. We do not let things get out of control like those buffoons at Warfare, or those idiots at Tradition. Don Leo Jonathan, we will NOT permit you to handle our Old School officials that way. You are SUSPENDED for the next two weeks! JR raises his hand and waves to the back. BIG JIM THE ENFORCER strides to ringside, accompanied by two large men in dark suits. Jonathan is escorted from the premises without another word.JR: Thank you, gentlemen. Now, we have a championship match to conduct. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to head back to the ring for tonight's Main Event! MAIN EVENT: OLD SCHOOL UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS (w/ BOBBY HEENAN) (c) vs. GIANT BABAThe title match was remarkably long and dramatic with multiple turns of the momentum. Baba began the match by overpowering Stevens, and beating him down with chops. A piledriver earned Baba a near fall, but distraction by Bobby Heenan saved the title for the Crippler. Baba remained on the attack, putting Stevens down with the Neckbreaker Drop. When Baba went for the cover, Heenan again interjected himself, but this time, Baba lunged after the Brain and sent him scurrying up the ramp for cover! This brought ANTONIO INOKI out of the locker room to restrain Heenan and keep him at bay! Stevens took advantage of the distraction to catch a breather and work his way back into the match. Stevens got down and dirty, brawling with Baba and sending him backpedalling with elbow smashes and punches. Finally, Baba was knocked to the canvas, and Stevens executed the Bombs Away, but Baba kicked out! Baba rallied, again taking control of the bout after a stunning atomic drop into the turnbuckle. Baba worked over Stevens with a series of chops, then floored him with a Russian Leg Sweep, but was unable to put Stevens down for the cover. Stevens slipped out of an attempted Bear Hug, whipped Baba to the ropes, and planted him with a Jumping Knee Smash! The Crippler's knee connected squarely with the jaw of Baba, and Stevens quickly made the cover to catch the three-count! WINNER: RAY 'CRIPPLER' STEVENS(Stevens pinned Baba after a Jumping Knee Smash)RAY STEVENS RETAINS THE UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPAfter the decision, Heenan returned to the ring to celebrate with Stevens. When Inoki headed to the ring, he was back-jumped by RICK RUDE! Rude sucker-punched Inoki and knocked him to the floor, then began putting the boots to him until Baba hurried up the ramp and chased Rude out of the ring area. Enraged, Inoki took the microphone.Inoki: Rick Rude! You are dishonorable man! You have no respect for your leaders or for your fellow wrestlers! Rick Rude, I challenge you to come face me like man! No more spitting! No more attacking! You come to me like man! JR: Ladies and gentlemen, Antonio Inoki has had enough. And frankly, so have I! Mr. Inoki, you have your match, against Rick Rude, at Heartland Havoc. This business with Rude and his antics needs to stop. Tradition is a fine wrestling organization, and Rob Bennett is well on his way to bring that organization to new levels of respectability, but for the actions of a few bad actors. In any event, the most important thing is, congratulations are in order to Ray 'The Crippler' Stevens for yet another successful title defense! A great match to cap off a most entertaining night of action, and to lead us in to Heartland Havoc XXV. That's right, fans, one week from tonight, from the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, it will be pay-per-view broadcast number 25, headlined by the Heartland Heavyweight Championship confrontation pitting the champion, BRUISER BRODY, against his rival, TAKESHI MORISHIMA, in a battle that you won't want to miss!
