Heartland Championship Wrestling proudly presents:June 12, 2021
Mid-South Coliseum, Memphis, Tennessee The show opens with the tune, "Blame It On The Boom Boom" by Black Stone Cherry playing throughout the coliseum. EPICDAVE strides through the curtain with a flourish and waves to the cheering fans. EpicDave stops on the ramp and points to the curtain. JERRY 'THE KING' LAWLER emerges and the fans go berserk!EpicDave: Hey, fans! Welcome to
Heartland Havoc CIV: Blame It On The Boom Boom! It is awesome to be able to bring you this special broadcast from the legendary Mid-South Coliseum. And what a privilege it is to be joined by a true Memphis legend like the King himself!
Lawler: Thanks, EpicDave! It's always great to be here in the Coliseum for a night of Memphis Wrestling. I almost didn't make it tonight!
EpicDave: Why not?
Lawler: Because of the Boom Boom! What did you think?
EpicDave facepalms.Lawler: I ran into
THE FALLEN ANGEL leaving the hotel this afternoon. And my heart just went "Boom Boom Boom"!
EpicDave: Easy there, Casanova. So you were late because your heart was acting up?
Lawler: Of course not! I proved back in Montreal that I am immortal. So after I saw The Fallen Angel at the hotel, I walked over to her and said, "Hello, Angel! How about a little Boom Boom?"
EpicDave: Oh… I get it. You were late because you had a fling with The Fallen Angel.
Lawler: Unfortunately not. Before The Fallen Angel could give me an answer,
WARLORD & BARBARIAN showed up. They told me if I didn't leave her alone, they would go Boom Boom Boom upside my head.
EpicDave: Oh no! You were late because you got roughed up by The Powers Of Pain?
Lawler: Are you kidding? I would never mess with those guys. After my chat with The Fallen Angel, I jumped in my rental car and headed straight for the Coliseum. Unfortunately, I backed over the security spikes. All four tires went BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
EpicDave: And THAT explains why you are late. It's all because of the Boom Boom. How did you manage to get hear after you blew your tires?
Lawler: Oh- I caught a ride with Barbarian. He's a sweetheart of a guy! Wouldn't even accept gas money. So now I'm here. This is gonna be a great night!
EpicDave: Without a doubt. We have FOUR title matches lined up- plus some intense grudge matches to settle. Both the
NWA World Tag Team and the
NWA World Heavyweight Championships are on the line.
RIC FLAIR is set to defend the World Title tonight against
THE DESTROYER in our Main Event.
Lawler: That sounds great! You know what I am gonna do?
EpicDave: Tell me.
Lawler: I am gonna relax, grab myself a cold one, and enjoy the show!
Grudge Match: No DisqualificationDUSTY RHODES & BLACKJACK MULLIGAN (w/JIMMY VALIANT) vs. TED DIBIASE & LEX LUGER (w/'DR. DEATH' STEVE WILLIAMS)It was a rough night for Dusty Rhodes. Big Dust found himself on the receiving end of brutal double-teams from Luger and DiBiase throughout the match. Jimmy Valiant hit the ring and dropped DiBiase with a neckbreaker to briefly turn the tide and allow Mulligan to clamp the claw on DiBiase! But Dr. Death interfered and took out Mulligan with a football tackle, leaving Dusty to fend for himself. Rhodes tried to battle both opponents, but a cheap shot from DiBiase knocked Dusty for a loop. Luger picked up Dusty for a torture rack, and he was unable to escape and soon became unresponsive.
WINNERS: TED DIBIASE & LEX LUGERAfter the match, Luger pitched Rhodes out of the ring on top of Valiant and the heels celebrated a dominant victory.Lawler: Would you look at that? Dusty Rhodes got his big fat butt kicked!
EpicDave: Yes, I am afraid so. Luger just made a powerful statement here tonight and I think he will be looking ahead to bigger and better things. And now- another intriguing Grudge Match.
TOMMY RICH has had his eye out for
RANDY SAVAGE ever since Savage collected a bounty on Rich. Wildfire has waited a long time for this night- and now the time has come.
Grudge Match: No DisqualificationTOMMY 'WILDFIRE' RICH vs. RANDY 'MACHO MAN' SAVAGESeeking his revenge against Savage, Wildfire came to the ring with a desperate passion. Savage was up to the task, and it was an intense brawl inside the ring and out. Savage brought a table into the ring, and after another heated exchange of fisticuffs, Savage put Rich through the table with a massive body slam! Savage followed up immediately, going to the top rope and coming off with the Flying Elbow Drop for the pin.
WINNER: RANDY 'MACHO MAN' SAVAGE Savage was victorious, but he wasn't finished. Savage went back to the top rope and drilled Rich with another Flying Elbow Drop! Rich went motionless on the canvas after the second elbow, but Savage climbed back to the turnbuckle a third time. Before Savage could launch, TRACY SMOTHERS dashed to ringside, brandishing a steel chair! Smothers pleaded with Savage to stop his attack. Words were exchanged, and Savage instead launched himself onto Smothers on the arena floor! Savage crashed onto Smothers, driving the steel chair into the head of Smothers! The chair caught Smothers flush on the skull, and Smothers was knocked out as he fell to the floor. Savage stood over Smothers, pointing his finger silently before departing. Both Smothers and Rich were left unconscious as Savage left the ring area.EpicDave: Would you look at that?!? Randy Savage just took out BOTH Tommy Rich and Tracy Smothers! Tommy is starting to stir- but Smothers hasn't moved since that steel chair made contact with his skull.
Lawler: That's Randy Savage for ya. He does what he feels like doing and he answers to nobody.
EpicDave: Can't argue that logic. But what went down tonight was over the top. I would go so far as to call him a loose cannon.
Lawler: Just don't call him that to his face.
EpicDave: All right, fans! We have seen a couple of intense battles to kick off the show. It's time for our first title match of the night!
Dixie Heavyweight ChampionshipCURT HENNIG (w/SO CAL VAL) (c) vs. STINGThe competitive fires ran hot as Hennig and Sting squared off. Sting had the edge in early going, and as the match wore on, Sting was able to set up Hennig for the Stinger Splash. But
ERNIE LADD arrived at ringside and pulled Hennig out of the ring before Sting could execute the splash! Sting and Ladd had a staredown, which gave Hennig time to recuperate and regain the momentum. Hennig matched Sting move-for-move until the champion saw the opening to drill Sting with a running knee lift. Sting was stunned, and Hennig immediately executed the Hennig Plex to score the pin.
WINNER: CURT HENNIGCURT HENNIG RETAINS THE DIXIE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
EpicDave: Congratulations to
CURT HENNIG! He came through with a huge victory tonight to cement his hold on the
Dixie Heavyweight Championship. Lawler: Look at how happy So Cal Val is! I like Val when she is happy.
EpicDave: She has every right to be happy after the performance of her man Hennig in that match. But business is fixin' to pick up now, fans- because the showdown between her So Cal Crew and The Horsemen is coming up next.
Lawler: I can't wait to see this match!
EpicDave: The time has come. And the rest of tonight's action will be seen on the
Epic Sports Broadcasting Network!Grudge Match: No DisqualificationBARRY WINDHAM, ARN ANDERSON, & TULLY BLANCHARD (w/JAMES J. DILLON) vs. THE POWERS OF PAIN (WARLORD & BARBARIAN w/THE FALLEN ANGEL) & RICK RUDE (w/SO CAL VAL)It was a down and dirty war between these bitter rival factions. Rude and Blanchard started things off for their respective squads, and before long this broke down into a battle for survival. Windham and Rude threw down for several minutes until Rude ate a West Texas Lariat and tagged out to Barbarian. Barbarian overpowered Windham and dropped Windham with a massive shoulder breaker. This prompted Anderson to hit the ring, and Barbarian floored Anderson with a big boot to the head. Windham tagged out to Blanchard, and the Powers of Pain beat up on Blanchard two on one to leave Tully wounded and gasping.
EpicDave: The Powers Of Pain are dominating this match! James J. Dillon is beside himself at ringside.
Lawler: And Fallen Angel and So Cal Val are jumping for joy. Do you believe those puppies?
EpicDave: Oh for Pete's sakes… pay attention to the match!
Blanchard was in big trouble, but finally managed to lunge to tag in Windham. Windham and Warlord battled for a few moments, then Warlord tagged in Rude. Windham got the jump on Rude, flattening Rude with several clotheslines and taking Rude to the corner to set up the Sweetwater Superplex. But as Windham hoisted Rude onto the top turnbuckle, So Cal Val jumped onto the ring apron and shouted at the referee.
Lawler: Look at this! So Cal Val is one crazy redhead! Is there anything she won't do to protect her man?
As Val shrieked at the referee, Fallen Angel grabbed Val by the leg and pulled her off the apron! Rude used the distraction to escape from Windham, but Barbarian delivered a big boot to the head of Rude and knocked Rude to the mat!
Lawler: Wait a minute?!? What's going on!
Rude staggered to his feet in a state of confusion, and both Warlord and Barbarian delivered a double head butt to Rude that put him on the canvas again. Fallen Angel jumped on top of Val on the arena floor and began wailing away on Val with slaps! Val was defenseless, and Fallen Angel grabbed Val by the neck, choking her.
EpicDave: It's a trap! The Powers of Pain are working with the Horsemen!
With Rude helpless, Windham wrapped Rude into a Figure-Four leg lock in the center of the ring. Rude was trapped, and Warlord and Barbarian put the boots to Rude, viciously stomping on Rude's ribs and abdomen until Rude was motionless.
ERNIE LADD & CURT HENNIG sprinted to ringside to rescue Val and the crew, but they were cut off by Anderson and Blanchard and the carnage continued. Finally, Blanchard rolled into the ring, put his foot on the chest of the fallen Rude, and instructed the referee to make the three count- but the outcome of the match was long decided and the pinfall was a mere formality.
WINNERS: BARRY WINDHAM, ARN ANDERSON, & TULLY BLANCHARDLawler: Do you believe that? The Fallen Angel and The Powers of Pain have double-crossed So Cal Val and her crew!
EpicDave: But why? It looked like Val and Angel were working together so well!
As the fans buzzed, Fallen Angel entered the ring and walked directly over to Dillon. JJ and Angel embraced, and did a little dance together around the ring. Lawler: Wait- what?
EpicDave: It was a set-up! Fallen Angel was working with Dillon and the Horsemen all along!
Lawler: JJ Dillon is a genius!
EpicDave: Without a doubt. And So Cal Val is in tears at ringside. Fallen Angel slapped her silly!
Lawler: Look at Rick Rude. He still can't get up- Windham tore up that knee and the Powers Of Pain obliterated his ribs.
EpicDave: What a turn of fortune for So Cal Val and her crew. But the show must go on- and it's time for
BOBO BRAZIL to defend the
Pro Wrestling Mid-America Heavyweight Championship!Pro Wrestling Mid-America Heavyweight ChampionshipBOBO BRAZIL (c) vs. TERRY FUNKTerry Funk brought stiff competition to the PWMA title, but Bobo was bigger, stronger and badder on this night. It took several Coco Butts from Bobo to finally overcome the challenge and retain the title.
WINNER: BOBO BRAZILBOBO BRAZIL RETAINS THE PWMA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
EpicDave: Congratulations to Bobo Brazil on a big victory here tonight against a tough opponent.
Lawler: A tough opponent? You're talking about Terry Funk in Memphis. He's not just a tough opponent- he is a beast. Bobo Brazil is lucky to get out of Memphis with his head still attached to his neck, let alone his title.
EpicDave: The voice of experience- Lawler and Funk have been in many a scrap in this town. And now- it's time for our world championship matches!
NWA World Tag Team ChampionshipTHE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (MICHAEL 'P.S.' HAYES & TERRY 'BAMM BAMM' GORDY) (c) vs. THE ROAD WARRIORSIt was all business for the Road Warriors, who came to the ring on a mission and went right to work on the World Champions. The Warriors opened up a flurry of violence against Hayes to kick things off. Animal surprised Hayes with a powerful dropkick, stunning Hayes and setting the stage for Hawk to deliver a Gorilla Press Slam that left Hayes gasping on the mat. A distraction from
BUDDY ROBERTS allowed Hayes to escape and tag out to Gordy, but not before Animal blasted Roberts off the ring apron with a massive running lariat. Gordy hit the ring and battled it out with both Warriors until Gordy was gassed and fatigued. Hayes returned to the ring to help his partner, but Animal took down Hayes with a flying shoulder smash. Hawk dumped Gordy out of the ring, and Animal hoisted Hayes into the air for the Warriors to execute the Doomsday Device and score a clean pinfall victory.
WINNERS: THE ROAD WARRIORSTHE ROAD WARRIORS WIN THE NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
EpicDave: Awesome Destruction!
Lawler: Was there every any doubt? The Road Warriors were in control of that match from beginning to end.
EpicDave: Believe it or not- this is the first time that the Road Warriors have ever won the
NWA World Tag Team Championship. Congratulations to Hawk and Animal- they have finally captured the ultimate prize in wrestling! Can
THE DESTROYER repeat that accomplishment and take down the World Heavyweight Champion? It's time for the Main Event!
Main Event: NWA World Heavyweight Championship'NATURE BOY' RIC FLAIR (c) vs. THE DESTROYERRic Flair was taken to the absolute limit in a grueling title defense in the Main Event. The Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer went on the attack in the early going, working on the legs of the champion and surprising Flair with multiple applications of the Figure-4. Flair was screaming in pain and nearly gave it up, but
JAMES J. DILLON grabbed the wrist of Flair and helped him reverse the Figure-4! Destroyer struggled to free himself, and Flair pulled on the ropes to increase the pressure. By the time Destroyer finally broke free, both men were weakened. Flair seized the opportunity to work over the knee of Destroyer, twisting and torturing the challenger's leg with knee drops and kicks. Destroyer could not withstand the onslaught, and when the damage was done, Flair locked on his own Figure-4 and forced Destroyer to give it up.

EpicDave: Your winner is the reigning and defending

NATURE BOY, RIC FLAIR!Lawler: To be the Man- you gotta beat the Man. Destroyer put up a good test tonight- but he just came up short.
EpicDave: A fine challenge indeed- in fact, that's about as close as we have seen Flair to losing his title. Kudos to Destroyer for a tremendous match here tonight. But Flair- with a little help from
JAMES J. DILLON- managed to survive and keep his title here tonight in Memphis. All right, fans- we're done here. Thanks for tuning in to tonight's presentation of
