The PROMOTER is a must have IMO. there's too many exclusives you can't get anywhere else plus info on upcoming COTG stuff. I just don't see how it's exclusive. What was in Promoter #6, Tom had already revealed (e-Book / COTG Super-Hero Project). Sure, the L-FSCE boots are great, and the spotlight is a fun read, but I just don't see how exclusive and awesome it is/was. I remember reading a few old print issues that I loved. If it was more like an old WCW/WWF Hotline with huge spoilers/news... that would be different. Please don't think I'm saying the Promoter sucks or anything like that, it's just not for me; it doesn't expand my enjoyment of the game. I love what our community does for this game. I love the GWF/COTG, but if the Promoter doesn't really add to my current enjoyment--if I'm already content---then I just don't need it. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Yeah, the downside with the promoter is that most of the stuff is easily accessible elsewhere except for the L-FSCE boots.

And if your online-only player...the boots do no good.

I know I have added a couple of matches, as have other promoters as well as other content, exclusively for the Promoter. It's nice to have these little type of things as exclusives for Promoter buyers only and IMO makes the Promoter completely worth the money. I'm sure I'll add other stuff in the future too and am certain others will continue to do so as well.
KB knows, as do I and others, THE PROMOTER = MUST HAVE!

Well..you can't get Lil' Champions anywhere else so that ALONE is reason enough to buy in. (I'm kidding, I know that L'Cs is probably not high on everyone's list of why they get the promoter.
I will say that while looking through my collection of promoters (still need #'s 4 & 6 if anyone has they lying around). I was kind of bummed to think that possibly gone are the days of exclusive cards like Draconian Sheik, Johnny Rocket, P3, etc. I know, I know we get the L-FSCE boots but I'm talking a 'mail away/promoter only' physical (not download and print yourself) card. But who knows, maybe it'll happen.

As sad as it is, the attraction of the Promoter hasn't been there the last couple of years... I still get it for collection purposes but...no longer excited when it gets close, something is missing from it... don't get me wrong, the LCSE has some appeal but eh...

I agree on the 'something missing' point but I still want it, maybe because I'm just a COTG junkie.

Okay, as a former Promoter editor, I'm going to get on my soapbox for a minute here.
When I was in charge of putting together material for the print newsletter, many of you know what I would always say when people would complain that the same things and same names were appearing over and over again...
Send me something, then.
The Promoter was of course always meant to be a forum for Tom and other game writers to provide teasers and insights on the sets, but I had always wanted it to be way more fan-driven than it ever wound up being. People like to get stuff like the Promoter, but very few actually take the time to contribute to it, maybe 1%, I'd say 5% tops at any given time (not counting rankings, although that's not much higher). COTG isn't drawing from a fan base of thousands, so that 1-5% participation rate really kills the variety. And as editors and contributors, you a) run out of ideas after a while, and b) get weary of always asking people to contribute when the same five people are the ones taking the initiative to send something.
So my point is, if you feel something is lacking in the Promoter, you have the power to change that yourselves. It's your publication. Make up a special match. Analyze the cards in a way that's never been done before. Whatever. John Krause and the guys are always trying to come up with new angles, believe me. But I'm sure they'd much rather have a wealth of fan-driven submissions to choose from.
End of rant. Get to writing, folks!

I think part of the problem is that there is no real news in it. Granted I only got the few last print issues of the Promoter. By the time the Promoter comes out everyone already knows what is going on. I'm probably getting it for the sole purpose of LFSCE and Lil' Champions. Having official cards exclusively released would be nice. I think another issue is the lack of other feds. I know in the few print issues I've gotten I've enjoyed the special aCe and POW content that I wasn't finding on the boards and some of it did not appear till later. Tom's posts are so vague that it doesn't add anything.
I like the fan stuff but I do like having the official stuff in there as well.
