Yes, I know anything but cheering isnt understood by some of you. Hurrah! There are some people I swear ought to just change their name to Defender of the Realm. Not that its needed, but.... Hey, I understand people not liking certain things but you should have a valid reason, and just being fearful or worried about something you haven't seen just seems odd. I think I've done a good job pointing out why people should reserve judgment, or think they don't have an avenue to voice their opinion to Tom -- I'm not seeing much of that from people who don't like the idea of color cards. I think we should think of Tom, his business and how it will help him and his family, as well as enhance the game rather than thinking about it from just our own personal feelings about it. Going color is what's best for the business. Tom is reasonable and will not be charging over the top prices for this game when he's been giving us great sets at extraordinarily low prices for so long. Great posts by Big Bri and maddog and Justin Case! Well I think my post up there said it all for me.It is as valid as it gets. You came off sort of blase' about my hope for a B&W PDF version in the future . There are people who will just like Black and White no matter what slick colors are pulled off.And heck, I will still buy them, I ve been at this too long.I do see the reality, but don't just shrug some of us off. This art has to be all drawn out first, leaving room to copy them and put to PDF before any coloring.

Ok but then why do all the editions need to be in color? Why not leave color for the online game OR maybe have it as an option. I understand color may bring in some new game players but is it worth the risk of losing some hardcore gamers. Some of us really don't like the color choices and like to use our imagination. Some guys are obvious while others are kind of weird. I may get shot for saying this but I think Paganax is way too bright red, I picture something like a dirty darker orange or dark blood red.
And this maybe coming from an old person here but I may actually buy more comics if they were black and white. The original movie Psycho is way better then the color remake. Yeah I know your going to say it was a remake but it was pretty much a shot for shot remake and it sucked compared to the original. But anyway my main concern is that yes everyone has an opinion but if you can appeal to more people then why not offer different options to people, the more the better! "We got online, we got printed cards in color or in B&W." Color may get some people to try the game but the core creative ideals of the game should be the selling point and what get people into the fold.

Nobody ever said all the editions will be in color, I remember somebody saying it would be nice to get them all in color but it wasnt a priority. Tom did say to go along with the new set in color the whole current roster will be offered in color as well but that was it.

Ok, that's just your opinion not based on anything. I have heard Tom say that when he goes to Cons, (I'm pretty sure Alex had gotten someone to color a few cards before as well as using some of Kev Knipe's color cards) that he got a WAY bigger reaction to the colored ones than ones that aren't. That's right from Tom's mouth. I really don't know what else to say on that. It's not gonna get hundreds of new players but it will definitely get more interest than things that are in B&W. It would be like seeing B&W comic books and color ones. Most people would like the colored ones better. Not all -- but most. True, it's my opinion.. I could give you lots of examples, but there's really no point. We can agree to disagree. Frankly, if its NOT going to get hundreds of new players, then Tom and Co shouldn't be doing it.. they should instead be sitting down and figuring out how to do just that... in case you haven't noticed, there's not a lot of fresh blood around here... the only new board members I see are people from way back that lost touch, or people trying to advertise their e-fed. Perhaps sets are selling like crazy and people are just not interested in the board... but I'm sure there's SOME correlation. I could give you lots of opinions on that, but that's another topic for another day.

Seriously guys...I understand all your points & all your fears...
None of your concerns are going to make a difference...all they are doing is getting everyone worked up. Wait until tomorrow when you see how things work themselves out.
I think Grant hit the nail on the head...when I play the game the cards are face down. Art is very important...I don't use Shell Shocker because I don't like the art - great card but I can't get past the art. So I understand where you are coming from about coloring...
Again...none of this is going to make any difference as to how things come out. I'm not saying that your concerns aren't valid...they are...what im really saying is:
GO PLAY SOME CHAMPIONS OF THE GALAXY FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!![/b]

There is no sense getting all worked up until the preorder info is up. For me, if the price is resonable I will get the new cards. If it is too expensive, I will stay in the Early Classics era. The point is, WE DON"T KNOW ALL THE INFO YET. So why not go get the dice out and roll some matches while we wait for tomorrow night!

I don't know what your point is Wildfire. It seems to be all speculation. Tom wouldn't be doing the game in color if he didn't want to and didn't think it would help the sales. Maybe Tom wants it in color, did you ever think of that? He has actually said that the reason it wasn't in color at the beginning was because it was too costly. Now, he has the resources to do it. It really is just that simple.
@ Wraith, Tom picks the colors and OKs the final versions so are you saying Tom is wrong on the characters he created?

I can tell you now someone is going to say that that is the reason for the color. But if I remember right , so was the whole new beginnig thing.

Thought I'd chime in, as someone who purchased GWF sets every year until last.
This is a business. People have the right to speak their mind, negative as well as positive. And people have the right to speak their mind with their wallets too.
Why did I, after 20+ years, stop buying the GWF sets? Because I simply felt the writing was no longer compelling and most of the new characters didn't appeal to me.
That's my right as a consumer. I don't "owe" anything to Tom or Filsinger Games. My money is my money. Maybe one day I'll change my mind and buy the sets again. Maybe not.
Time will indeed tell if this color versus B&W thing is a good business idea or not. I seriously doubt that there are many at all new buyers of COTG. I don't see the game, color or B&W or online, set up very well to attract new people.
It's always struck me as THE most important goal to keep the niche market happy. And there seems to be unrest over this decision. And that's valid.

This art has to be all drawn out first, leaving room to copy them and put to PDF before any coloring. I could care less one way or another, but offering them via .PDF in black and white (where a fan has to do the work themselves to put the card together)...is it really a bad thing?! You are catering to new potential fans (color cards) and can still appeal to old fans (b&w .PDF files).
