Wow, I never posted the annotations here. Now that it's up for LOW fed of the quarter I just realized that! Here they are, and thanks for your voting consideration. annotationsLegendary Journey Narrative= LJN, the company that produced the WWF Wrestling Superstars action figure line from 1984 to 1989. [1] (intro post): There were three versions of Andre The Giant released in the line: The long haired Andre in '84, the short hair version after Studd cut his hair, and finally a "heel" Andre with the black outfit. The one Andrew has is the long haired original version, coinciding with the longer haired Andre portrayed in the Legends OF Wrestling limited edition card. [2] (second show): "Bring Home All The Action" was the theme of the third LJN action figure television commercial released in 1987. www.youtube.com/watch?v=43zIoX8dr_Y[3] (second show): One Man Gang didn't take off his vest because the figure depicted Gang wearing his blue jean vest, as does the drawing for his Legends Of Wrestling card. [4] (third show): Nikolai's hat is missing because the kid lost it! Kids always seemed lose the accessories for these figures! Also, the first printing of the Legends Of Wrestling intro box set features card art of Nikolai without a hat (the second print, of course, has Volkoff in his trademark hat and shirt). [5] (third show): Obviously, there were no figures produced for The Masked Superstars. However, there were figures made of Demolition Ax and Big John Studd. In a mind-boggling move, the line was canceled before Demolition Smash could be made to go with Ax. Fortunately for Andrew, he was an avid reader of "kayfabe breaking" wrestling magazines like Wrestling World and the infamous Wrestling Eye that revealed to him that Ax used to be Superstar and Studd once donned the mask of Superstar II. Some of moms fabric and a few paint markers later and the Masked Superstars came to "Wrestling Superstars". [6] (interlude 1): On one level this is a promoter talking to the building's janitor about a missing wrestler. On another it is Andrew talking to his mom, who is busy with house cleaning, as he tries to find the missing Muraco figure. The comment about the shirt is because the figure in question depicted Muraco in a black shirt with "Magnificent Muraco" written in white letters on the front. Andrew calls the box where he keeps his figures the locker room, and his mom is sort of teasing him. [7] (interlude 2): On level one it's a Wrestling Superstars employee talking to the promoter behind the arena as he's discovered Muraco stumbling around out back with a busted hand. On level two it's Andrew's dad who has found the Muraco figure in the backyard where the family dog has taken it to have his slobbering, dog-jawed way with the hand. [8] (Superstar Mania): "All Star Wrestling" was the name of the AWA wrestling action figure line produced by Remco in the 80s as competition to the LJN WWF line. All Star Wrestling fared far better in action figure land than the AWA did against the real WWF, as they offered a cheaper alternative, offering two-packs of figures for about the same price as one WWF action figure. Playboy Buddy Rose and Boris Zuchov were part of the only series sold individually, the very rare "Mat Mania" line. These figures are incredibly tough to find, especially Zuchov which can now sell in the neighborhood of $1,000+ in original condition!

Thank you to everyone who supported Wrestling Superstars: LJN for fed of the quarter. There's a main event yet to be held, and I'll soon be heading back down the rabbit hole to begin chapter two.
Thanks again. There was some awesome competition on the LOW side this quarter, and I'm really honored Wrestling Superstars: LJN got the nod.

A much deserved award!
I am also a big fan of your LOTF fed MRW: Revolution Wrestling and, as I said on the GBITG, your other LOW fed Crosstime Wrestling too. You have some great innovative ideas in your feds and I am looking forward to reading more of them in the future.
Congratulations Mark! I think the voters got this one right.

Congratulations, Mark. This fed makes me miss the LJN figures I had as a child. Many a match was had between Big John Studd (my favorite at the time) and Brutus Beefcake (I don’t know why).

Congrats Mark...while I can say I don't read many LOW feds, I've been checking this one out. A different take and very interesting.

CHAPTER TWO: prologue, part one
twenty years later
"Hey Andrew, what's in the box?"
"Oh, hi mom. I was just going through all of my old stuff. Look here, I found all of my wrestling figures."
"Wow. I remember how into playing with those things you were as a kid, and how much we liked giving you a hard time about it. You'd write down all of the winners and losers in a notebook and run it like a real wrestling tv show."
"Right. Until that one fateful trip to grandma's house. Remember how you interrupted me right before the main event and how mad I was the whole drive?"
"How could I forget? Your dad and I thought it'd ruin the entire trip until we got there. Then you saw grandma's next door neighbor Jenny. Girls magically replaced toys overnight!"
"Hahahaha, you're right, my priorities did seem to shift a little that summer! I never did get back to that show, you know? I do remember something you probably don't though."
"What's that?"
"That little comment you made about how maybe one day there'd be Champions Of The Galaxy cards of the real-life wrestlers. I think you were psychic mom, because it happened."
"Psychic mom, huh? I like the sound of that! You outgrew toys, went through a dozen video game systems, different girls have come and gone over the years, but that game just keeps on going, doesn't it?"
"Yep. Hey, you know, maybe it's time to finish that show."

Chapter Two: prologue, part twoStartled awake by strange sleep visions, the hulking figure lurches to an upright position and slowly drags himself out of bed. Bones creak and joints pop as he makes his way down the hall. Suddenly his skin feels cold and rubbery. A body well-acclimated to living in near-constant discomfort is greeted by an entirely new level of rigidity. Pain shoots through his right hand as he makes his way to the bathroom. He looks down and sees----bloodless puncture wounds? Then he looks up and catches sight of his reflection in the bathroom mirror and is filled with shock and dread. "Oh no, not again......" Up next: chapter two begins. The next edition of Wrestling Superstars will feature the historic title match between Andre The Giant and Ted DiBiase. Pay per view technical difficulties in a large part of the country caused many to miss out, so this colossal match will be shown in it's entirety for all to see. PLUS, in the television main event it will be a rematch between Ravishing Rick Rude and Magnificent Muraco. All of this and more, coming your way this week!

Superstars Of Wrestling The show started with an apology to all of the fans who missed the main event of the pay-per-view due to technical difficulties beyond the company's control. As promised, the main event in it's entirety.Andre The Giant defeated Ted DiBiase via disqualification in a world title match. After some talking and stalling, Andre went to lock up with DiBiase and got caught with a poke in the eyes. DiBiase used a variety of punches, kicks, and choking to bring the Giant to his knees. Ted went for the cover after a back elbow from the second rope, but Andre kicked out hard at "1". The Giant finally mounted a comeback and DiBiase bailed out of the ring following a big boot from Andre. Ted tried to run away and take the intentional countout, but Andre gave chase, grabbed him from behind, and tossed him back into the ring. Andre hit a head butt and then set up for the BIG SPLASH. It looked like it was all over for DiBiase when Bob Orton Jr, Iron Sheik, and Nikolai Volkoff stormed the ring. Andre was overwhelmed and the ref called for the bell. Officials and refs came in to break up the beating, but the damage had been done: Andre had won the match, but the belt had been saved for DiBiase. Following the playing of the tape, the show began with Ted DiBiase going to the interview area accompanied by Cowboy Bob Orton, Iron Sheik, and Nikolai Volkoff. DiBiase began with his maniacal laughter and reveled in the fact that he was still the champ. He stated, as always, that "everybody's got a price for the Million Dollar Man" and that includes the men standing behind him: his new bodyguard Orton, and the other two founding members of the "Million Dollar Team" and future tag team champions Sheik and Volkoff. Ted said they may not like the American way, but they sure love the money. Ted finished by vowing that, with Orton watching their backs, they will dominate Wrestling Superstars for a long time to come and no one can do anything to stop them. Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake (w/Johnny V) beat SD Jones and Koko B. Ware. A dominating performance by Valentine and Beefcake, a team ready to make a serious run at the tag team championship in the pending title tournament. Jones fell to a Beefcake FLYING KNEE in the end.Hacksaw Jim Duggan pinned One Man Gang. Gang jumped Duggan at the bell and used some clubbing forearms, but Duggan quickly mounted his comeback. From there it was all Hacksaw as he made the once-imposing One Man Gang look timid and easily scored the win with the Flying Spear.During Hacksaw's match, King Kong Bundy was seen in pre-recorded comments in the old "corner box" at the top of the screen. Bundy said the ref made the mistake of his life at Superstar Mania, favoring Hacksaw and doing everything in his power to make sure he won. Bundy said Hacksaw hasn't heard the last of King Kong Bundy and promised to be the last man standing next time they meet. Ravishing Rick Rude (w/Heenan) pinned Don "The Rock" Muraco in the television main event. Mr. Fuji made his appearance for the first time in Wrestling Superstars as, prior to the bout he came to the ring to talk with Muraco. Things got heated during the exchange and the distraction gave Rude an opening to pounce. He had Muraco in trouble early, but The Rock fought back hard. He took the bout to the floor, slammed Rude on the floor, brought him back in, and looked like he was going to get the win afterall. Rude, however, had other plans and soon had Muraco set up for the RUDE AWAKENING. Muraco miraculously kicked out, his massive neck apparently absorbing the damage. Rude argued with the ref and was momentarily off his game, but pressed his attack and finally gained the pin after a piledriver. After the match Fuji hung his head in disgust and walked away cursing Muraco as Heenan and Rude celebrated in the ring.

WRESTLING CHALLENGE Greg "The Hammer" Valentine (w/Luscious Johnny Valiant) won by countout over Hillbilly Jim. Jim won the lockup at the bell and powered the Hammer around the ring early. Distraction by Johnny V got Greg back into the match and The Hammer tried to put it away with the FIGURE FOUR. Jim got to the ropes for the break and Valentine stomped him until he rolled out to the floor. Valentine followed and a brawl broke out. Jim gained control and tossed Hammer back into the ring. When he did Johnny grabbed Jim's leg out of sight of the ref and held on for dear life as the ref continued to count, resulting in the win for The Hammer. One Man Gang and George Steele fought to a double disqualification. The feud neither man seems able to win continued as the unorthodox brawlers squared off. Gang set up the 747 but Steele moved. Steele came back with the foreign object and Gang retaliated. Things got heated, the ref could not regain control, and the bout was thrown out as a double DQ.Nikolia Volkoff and Iron Sheik (w/Cowboy Bob Orton) beat The Killer Bees in a tag team tournament match. The association with DiBiase and bodyguard Orton paid off immediately for Sheik and Volkoff. It looked like the Bees were ready to take the win after a BEE STING on Volkoff when Blair went for the pin. However, the ref was busy dealing with a fight between Sheik and Brunzell and missed Orton get into the ring and blast Blair with a kick using the heel of his cowboy boots. Blair crumbled, Volkoff used his BACKBREAKER DROP, and the ref turned around (as always) just in time to see the pin and count the fall.Following the decision Superfly Jimmy Snuka came out to argue the result and point out the injustice. That made Orton mad and words were exchanged. Orton challenged Snuka to a match on the spot and Superfly agreed. The ref called for the bell and things got started. Superfly Jimmy Snuka pinned Cowboy Bob Orton. Orton jumped Snuka at the bell, but Superfly came back strong with the leap frog and chop. It was al downhill from there for Orton as Superfly rolled to the win and picked up the fall with a power slam.Following the bell Sheik and Volkoff hit the ring but Snuka saw them coming and wisely slid out just in time, leaving the members of DiBiase's squad in the ring to fume and levy idle threats. Before the main event got underway, Mr.Fuji went to the ring to talk with Muraco once again. He said Muraco has lost his mind but he's willing to give him one more chance to make amends, turn his back on this match, and come back with Fuji. Muraco countered by saying he hasn't lost his mind, he's cleared his head and seen how he was taken advantage of for years by men like Bobby Heenan and Fuji. Fuji warned him to take that last statement back "or else". Muraco, of course, countered by asking "or else what?", prompting Fuji to tell Muraco he'd find out next week on Wrestling Superstars. Fuji left and the match began. Hacksaw Duggan and Don "The Rock" Muraco beat Rick Rude and King Kong Bundy. Duggan and Bundy kicked things off and traded heavy blows with Duggan coming out on top. It looked like things would be over early, but Rude broke up a pin just in time. Bundy snuck back into the match with a cheapshot and tagged out. Rude took control decisively until Duggan made his comeback effort and tagged Muraco. Muraco kicked things into high gear and the action got fast and furious for a while. Finally all four men ended up in the ring and Muraco and Duggan cleared house. When the dust settled it was Duggan on top of Bundy for the win.
