Sorry Scott, but I had forgotten about this.
Dueling Referee ChartUse this chart for a situation where you have booked 'two' referees to officiate a match. This can be used in various scenarios such as: i. using two refs, each with neutral affiliations with the wrestlers involved in the match, but having different styles of refereeing; or ii. two refs with either one or both having a conflicted interest with one or both wrestlers involved in the match.
Visually you can have either both refs in the ring together, or have one ref inside the ring, the other outside. The key to the formula is that initially they are 'both' in charge of the match...and in an area of contention they must both come to a unanimous agreement to end a match, or it must continue.
Before beginning the match, assign stats using the Referee Characteristics Chart below. This is based on rolling 2D6 with rolls 'below' the assigned number being successful. To the extent that you want bias toward a certain wrestler to be high, assign higher numbers. To the extent you want bias to be low, assign lower numbers.
Whenever there is an instance where a definitive referee's judgment must be made, use the chart below.
Referee Characteristics ChartChance of DQ | Toward Wrestler A (-3 thru -11) | Toward Wrestler B (-3 thru -11) |
Pin Count Cadence | Toward Wrestler A (O to add 5 to Pin Rating) | Toward Wrestler B (subtract 3 from Pin Rating for 'slow count' to add 3 to Pin Rating for 'fast count') |
Distraction | Toward Wrestler A (-3 thru -11) | Toward Wrestler B (-3 thru -11) |
Chance of Over-Ruling Other Ref's Decision | Toward Wrestler A (-3 thru -11) | Toward Wrestler B (-3 thru -11) |
Sample Referee Characteristics ChartDisqualification | Toward Wrestler A -4 | Toward Wrestler B -9 |
Pin Count Cadence | Toward Wrestler A (slow subtract 1 from Pin Rating) | Toward Wrestler B (fast count add 2 to Pin Rating) |
Distraction | Favoring Wrestler A -7 | Favoring Wrestler B -3 |
Chance of Over-ruling The Other Ref's Decision | Decision Favoring Wrestler A -4 | Decision Favoring Wrestler B -10 |
* Either ref can 'over-rule' the other during the first three instances where a referee's input is needed. For the 'fourth' instance where a ref's discretion is required, roll 2D6. Imagine the ref with the lower roll takes a 'bump' that knocks them out. At that moment the ref with the higher 2D6 roll has carte blanche to make a decision without being over-ruled.
If necessary, for the next ref decision scenario imagine another bump occurs and 'alternate' with the 'other ref' now having sole decision making powers. Continue this pattern until the match completes.
