I've had the idea for this particular wrestler for a long time. I've always been a big fan of the old ECW feud between Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka. In particular, I was impressed by the combination of Awesome's raw power and surprising agility, and I wanted to create a card that had a similar fighting style. However, I wanted to also have the card be something different, so I decided to make the wrestler a woman, beautiful, desirable and sexy, but able to take on both men and women on equal footing.
As a space opera fan, I have always been into starships, especially capital ships, like Imperial Star Destroyers, the various incarnations of the U.S.S.
Enterprise, the
Galactica, etc. One term used to denote larger warships in space opera is "battlecruiser," which when talking about wet navy ships denotes a larger ship that mounts heavier armament, but relies on speed and maneuverability rather than armor as its main defense. Besides that, it just sounds cool.
Sounds like a good name for a wrestler, right? I added "XXX" to denote that my wrestler, despite her incredible power, is still very feminine and sexy.
Hence my new wrestler, Battlecruiser XXX.
I envisioned that she would introduce herself to the GWF crowd in a series of in-ring promos, where she would pass herself of as a valet, introducing herself as "Liberty." She would show off her incredible body, and hype the wrestling debut of Battlecruiser XXX, whom the fans would assume she would be the mouthpiece for, leading them to imagine a giant hulking (male) monster. During these promos, she would be wearing a leather catsuit that obscures her real physique.
The night of her first match, she would start off like as if she cutting another promo, only to be interrupted by a male wrestler; the interloper would be someone that a woman wrestler would have no business beating, say, for example...Tanck. Tanck would come out and trashtalk Liberty. "You keep running your mouth about this 'Battlecruiser XXX.' Where is he? Get his ass down to the ring, so I can turn him into a lifeless hulk!" XXX's music hits, and Vidtek does his intro, "weighing in at 225 pounds, from parts unknown, 'BC-30,' Battlecruiser...TRIPLLLLLLLE X!" But no one comes down the entrance ramp. Tanck is incredulous. But Liberty, wearing a knowing smile, puts her long red hair into a pony-tail, then looks at the timekeeper and says, "Ring the bell."
Tanck hears the bell and is standing around looking very confused until Liberty attacks him from behind, whips him into the ropes and nails him with a flying leg lariat. She then picks him up into a fireman's carry. Tanck is surprised, but laughs and says, "Very impressive, child, but you can put me down now." Liberty says, in a very ditzy voice, "OKAY!" She puts him down...head first, in a Death Valley Driver; it's of one BC-30's signature moves, the Mass Driver. Then, she really shocks everyone when she picks him up, gorilla presses him over her head, and then throws him over the ropes to the floor below. Liberty struts around the ring for awhile.
Tanck gets up and stares at her in shock, grabs a mic and screams, "This is impossible! No WOMAN would ever dare attack me! Who the hell do you think you ARE?" Liberty sneers down at him, then unzips and removes her catsuit, revealing a short-sleeved top, showing off her ample cleavage and tight, toned, six-pack abs; she also has matching trunks accentuating her muscular legs and gorgeous backside. Both the top and the trunks are charcoal grey, with thick yellow piping down the sides. Over her left breast is, in white lettering reminiscent of markings on a WWII naval warship, "BC-30." Across the front of her trunks in the same font is the word "Liberty." Across her backside, three X's, the middle X larger than the others. When she is done removing her cat-suit, she crosses her arms over her head, chops them across her crotch, and throws them back over her head. The realization hits the crowd about the same time it hits Tanck.
Liberty IS Battlecruiser XXX.
But before he can retaliate, she bounces off the far-side ropes, and leaps over the top rope, nailing Tanck with a tope suicida. She throws him back into the ring, grabs a folding chair, and follows him back into the ring. She then climbs the turnbuckle (chair still in hand), waits for Tanck to get up, throws him the chair, and then blasts him with a missile dropkick...another one of her signature moves, the Orbital Strike. Then Liberty looks at the audience, slashes her thumb across her throat (Chris Benoit-style), lays the now-dented chair in the corner, then drags what's left of Tanck to the corner. She then climbs up the turnbuckle, dragging Tanck up with her, scoops him up, inverts him, and...
Now would be a good time to mention that BC-30 has two finishers. One is a sharpshooter leg lock called the TRACTOR BEAM. It's only a zero rating, because it's her secondary finisher. But her main finisher is a cradle tombstone piledriver called the STARSHIP KILLER. (Previously it was just a tombstone piledriver, but I changed after feedback from barnestormer, below.) However, Liberty also has a variation on this: one is a top-rope cradle tombstone piledriver called the PLANET KILLER.
As you may have noticed, Tanck isn't going to get stuck in any of those. Instead, he's getting a second variation of the Starship Killer, a top-rope cradle tombstone piledriver onto a steel chair...the GALAXY KILLER. She also does a version called the UNIVERSE KILLER, which is the Planet Killer through a table, but I decided that maybe that would be better as a move she only uses against a feud opponent, as a result of one of the charts.
The crowd is shocked at her shows of power; at no time has Liberty shown any kind of strain in picking up Tanck's massive 285 pound frame. She holds the Circus Strongman in the tombstone position, leaps three feet into the air off the turnbuckle and spikes the jabroni headfirst onto the chair. The password is..."ouch." (ding!) BC-30 lays him onto his back, crosses his arms across his chest, and does a handstand on his chest to cover him (crossing her arms and legs, forming three X's with Tanck's already crossed arms across his chest). The ref counts...one, two, three...and a new star is born.
