Cove Championship Wrestling: 7/23/2008
Bout #1: Victoria (1-1) vs. Kelly Kelly (1-1) -Victoria was still angery about the last time these two ladies stepped into the ring. Kelly scored a stunning, fast upset in their first meeting, but Victoria is not about to let that happen again. Victoria went full out and used her power to dominate Kelly. Kelly was unable to get off any offensive moves and was pinned after a Widow's Peak at 7:46.
Bout #2: Nigel McGuinness (1-0) vs. Jeff Jarrett (1-0) - Both men are hoping to secure a spot in the upcoming TV Title Tournament. A good back and forth bout here, as both men understand the importance of this bout. Nigel needed to nail the Jawbreaker Lariat twice (the first time was a 2 count) to put away Jeff at 8:40.
Bout #3: Triple H (1-1) vs. Randy Orton (2-1) - Orton is still upset about his loss in the semi-finals to Danielson and wants a rematch. Triple H will not be anyone's stepping stone. An early RKO only scored a 2 count, which disgruntled Orton. Triple H battled back and scored with his Pedigree to win at 10:50.
Bout #4: Nattie Neidhart (2-1) vs. Candice Michelle (0-1) - Nattie did not let Candice get an offensive move off in this squash. Nattie used the Sharpshooter to win at 2:10.
Bout #5: Austin Aries (2-0) vs. Homicide (1-0) - Aries and Homicide are not new to each other, but the CCW fans have been looking forward to their match-up. Great action, as Homicide tried to end things early with his Gringo Killer, but Aries would not stay down. Aries answered with a series of hard hitting suplexes, but Homicide answered with a low blow. Back and forth until Aries nailed his Brainbuster and then his 450 Splash for the pin at 11:16.
Main Event: CCW Heavyweight Chmapionship Bout #6: Kurt Angle (2-4) vs. Bryan Danielson (4-1) - A great finals leads to this great rematch. Angle and Danielson went back and forth using everything in their arsenals to try and thwart the other. Angle locked on the Ankle Lock, but Danielson escaped. Angle went for the Angle Slam, but Danielson countered and fired off a series of elbow smashes. Angle escaped the Cattle Mutilation and countered with an Ankle Lock. Both men pulled out all the stops and it took a Diving Headbutt by Danielson to retain his title at 15:13.

You got your wife into the game, that's amazing! My wife said she's only ever play it if I got some Doctor Who bootlegs!

Dark Match: Delirious vs. Savage T - Two non-roster wrestlers got a chance to shine here tonight in the dark match. They did not disappoint. A great pace, as T tried to take it to Delirious. Delirious is a hard guy to read and out of nowhere, he exploded. Delirious won at 6:37 with his Chemical Imbalance #2.
Round #1:
Bout #1: Nigel McGuinness vs. Abyss - The huge Abyss looked like an early favorite, but Nigel would not let that happen. Nigel used some hard hitting shots to the legs and the back of Abyss. Nigel nailed his Jawbreaker Lariat 3 times to score the win at 7:03.
Bout #2: Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles - AJ knew that Joe will not be an easy bout, as both men tried to wrestle their type of match. The fans were pretty evenly split, as both men have a huge following. Good offense back and forth ave both opportunities to score the win. Joe's size overpowered AJ and he used his Musclebsuter to take the win at 15:10.
Bout #3: Christian Cage vs. James Gibson - Gibson is truly beloved by the CCW fans and they rallied behind him every time Cage would get the advantage. Cage pushed the pace and took the win with his Unprettier at 11:58.
Bout #4: Austin Aries vs. Triple H - Triple H looked to have an easy bout with Aries, based on the experience and size advantages. In the early stages, it appeared that this would be the case. Triple H nailed several high impact moved, but could not score the pinfall. Frustrated, Triple H got sloppy and this gave Aries the opening he needed. Aries used his Brainbuster and then the 450 Splash at 12:07 to take the win.
Round 2: Bout #5: Nigel McGuinness vs. Samoa Joe - Joe looks super focused on the goal and he attacks Nigel hard at the bell. Joe tossed Nigel over the ropes and he started slamming Nigel's head into the ringpost. The ref order Joe to stop, as Nigel started bleeding from his nose, but Joe refused. The ref had to DQ Joe at 3:16. This did not sit well with Samoa Joe.
Bout #6: Christian Cage vs. Austin Aries - Cage figured he would be able to use his size advantage against Aries, just as he had against Gibson. Aries would not go down so easy, as he battled back and showed why he is one of the top stars here in CCW. Aries used his brainbuster, but did not score the pinfall. Aries escaped the Unprettier and locked in his Horns of Aries for the win at 17:47.
Non-Tournament: Special Nightmare Co-Main Event Bout #7: Kevin Sullivan vs. The Great Muta - These two Nightmares made a special appearance here tonight in a preview of Monday's special CCW - Nightmares card. Both men began this battle before the bell even rang. Hot and heavy action, as both Sullivan and Muta know that they can inflict tons of pain. Back and forth high impact moves brought the fans to their feet. Sullivan used the Golden Spike to nail Muta for the pin, but the ref saw the spike and DQed Sullivan at 13:10. This did not sit well with Sullivan and the ref needed to make a fast retreat.
Round #3: TV Title Finals Nigel McGuinness vs. Austin Aries - Both men had a hard road to the finals, but that would not slow them down. Fast and furious, with quick pin attempts throughout showed that each man wanted this gold. Nigel nailed the Jawbreaker Lariat, but it knocked Aries clean out of the ring. Aries battled back and locked on his Horns of Aries, but Nigel used his long legs to get to the ropes. Both men knew it would take everything they had to score the win. Nigel went for the Jawbreaker Lariat, but Aries ducked and chopped out Nigel's knee. Aries nailed his brainbuster and then nailed the 450 Splash for the win at 27:14 and wins the gold. After the bout, Nigel and Aries shake hands, as the crowd roars.

*Tonight's CCW show is going to feature the new set Nightmares of the Mat. I just wanted to say thank you for this amazing set of cards and allowing us to enjoy your great talents!
Bout #1: Mr. Pogo vs. Terry Funk - Cage Match - An insane opener here as Mr. Pogo from the Nightmare group and the old veteran Terry Funk hooked up in crazy bout. Both men used the cage as a cheese-grater and both also tried to drop as many "bombs" on each other as they could. Terry was dropped throat first on the ropes and that staggered the crazy Texan. Pogo drove a knee to Funk's back and locked on the Fujiwara Armbar for the win at 19:43.
Bout #2: Luna Vachon vs. Lufisto - Women's Challenge Match - Lufisto made her CCW debut tonight, but unfortunately she was booked into this as her initiation. Luna is not a nice person and she does not like the young Lufisto. A great clash of different styles here grabbed the fans attention and held them captive. Luna threw Lufisto out to the floor, but Lufisto did not hold back. Both women eat the ringpost and both rolled back in just before the ten count. Lufisto and Luna started pounding each other, until Lufisto threw Luna to the floor. Lufisto smashed Luna's face down hard to the apron and dragged her into the ring and used her Emerald Fusion for the win at 11:16.
Bout #3: Mondo Kleen vs. Super Leather - No DQ Match - This was a brutal battle of two huge men, as both tried to end this early. Kleen tried to use a chair to smash Leather's face open, but Leather ducked and the chair rebounded and nailed Kleen. Super Leather booted Kleen hard in the gut and nailed his Powerbomb for the win at 7:16.
Bout #4: Violent J vs. Austin Aries - CCW TV Title Match - Violent J, a member of the Nightmares of the Mat roster, gets a CCW TV Title shot here tonight. Aries, coming off an amazing tournament, looked ready for J's crazy offense. Violent J opened with some hard hitting offense, but was unable to score anything more than a 2 count. Aries battled back and scored with some hard hitting offense. Aries nailed the brainbuster and locked on the Horns of Aries for the win at 10:43 to keep the gold.
Bout #5: Nigel McGuinness vs. Dr. Sam Shepperd - Challenge Match - Shepperd did not let McGuinness get any early offense off, but Nigel refused to stay down. McGuinness, who was also in the finals on the TV Title tournament, nailed a hard lariat to help swing the tide. Back and forth, each man nailed huge shots. Sam turned the tide back in his favor and tossed Nigel out of the ring. A stunned Nigel was staggering to his feet on the floor when Sam went for a huge dive. Nigel, at the last second, moved and let Shepperd slam hard into the announce table. Nigel rolled back in and Sam, holding his ribs, just made it back in before the ten count. Nigel grabbed Sam and nailed the short-arm lariat to take a win at 21:09. An amazing bout, that the fans stood and gave them a standing ovation.
Bout #6: Owen Hart vs. Bryan Danielson - CCW Heavyweight Title - Owen Hart, a special guest here tonight, gets a shot at the CCW Champion, "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson. A ton of pure wrestling fans were looking forward to this bout. Owen opened with some quick offense and used a tombstone to get Danielson down to the mat. Instead of trying for the pin, Owen went up top for a Moonsault, but Danielson got his knees up and landed hard on Danielson's knees. Bryan got to his feet and dragged Owen to his feet. Danielson nailed a huge elbow to Owen's face. Owen went down hard and Danielson locked on the Cattle Mutilation. Owen had no choice but to tap out at 5:11, but the fans know that this is not the last time that these two meet.
Bout #7: Main Event Return Bout Great Muta vs. Kevin Sullivan - Titan Death Match - This return bout from the last show was the bout that was buzzing all over the internet. Their first bout was a brutal war and this one should be no different. Fists started flying fast and furious and it quickly spilled out of the ring. Sullivan tried to whip Muta into the guardrail, but Muta slammed on the breaks. Muta answered with the mist to the eyes, and the fans went crazy. Muta slammed Sullivan down hard to the floor and then dropped a hard elbow drop. Kevin, rubbing his eyes, staggered to his feet and was met by Muta's hard knee strike to the back. Muta rolled Sullivan back in the ring and dropped another elbow. Like a cat, Muta sprang to the top rope and nailed his Moonsault. The ref counted three and the crowd popped. Sullivan tried to get to his feet, but as the ref closed in on the 10 for the 10-count, Sullivan slipped back down to the mat and it was over at 8:01. The crowd went nuts, as Muta put his fingers to his throat and spit the green mist off in celebration.

[glow=purple,2,300]Press Release[/glow]Cove Championship Wrestling would like to announce that on the next CCW show (this Friday night), the stars of Shimmering Star will be on the card. Shimmering Star and Cove Championship Wrestling have agreed in principle to a deal to cross promote each other and act as sister federations. Being as Shimmering Star does not have any TV deal at this time, they will be able to showcase their product on CCW cards. CCW is also looking to work out a similar deal with Nightmares of the Mat, after two awesome shows featuring their top talent.

*Tonight's card will feature talent from the Shimmering Star promotion
Bout #1: Trish Stratus vs. Keira Winters - Stratus, a regular in CCW, gets the first challenge of the night as she faces Winters. Keira came out fast, but was unable to get off nearly any offense, as Trish showed why she is the front runner in the upcoming CCW Women's Title tournament. Trish took the fight to Winters and finished her off with her Stratufaction at 5:36.
Bout #2: Dutch Savage (from PNW) vs. Nigel McGuinness - CCW has been in contact with PNW about either working together or a talent exchange, so Dutch Savage and a few others were sent to take a look at Cove. Nigel was overpowered by Dutch's unrelenting early onslaught. Nigel escaped several close 2 counts. Dutch whipped Nigel into the ropes, but Nigel ducked the clothesline and nailed his Rebound Lariat to win at 13:01.
Bout #3: Nattie Neidhart vs. Nikki Roxx - Nattie, another member of the CCW roster, takes on the second challenge as she faces Nikki Roxx (note: Roxxi from TNA) here in the 3rd match. Roxx looked very impressive against Nattie and scored a minor upset with her Q-Tee Special at 4:17.
Bout #4: Steve Austin vs. The Rock - Why so early on the card for this bout? It was not on the original schedule, so it was shoehorned in here. Not there was much to see. Austin attacked Rock immediately and they went to the floor. Austin refused to yield to the ref's warnings, repeatedly hitting The Rock with a chair. The ref called for the DQ of Austin just 3:07 into the bout.
Bout #5: Kayla Sparks vs. Lacey - Lacey, known though out the Indy circuit as a top womens wrestler, figured this should be a quick match. It was, just not how she saw it. Kayla was whipped into the ropes, as Lacey jawed at some guy in the first row. It cost her, as Kayla nailed her with a huge clothesline. 1...2....3! Kayla scored a huge upset in a mere 19 seconds! Lacey was furious after the bout, so Kayla was wise to make a quick exit.
Bout #6: Randy Orton vs. Matt Hardy - In our first co-main event, bad blood started boiling early. It seems whenever Orton is involved, blood starts to boil....and usually spill on the mat. Orton tried for the RKO throughout the match, but only caught Matt once with it and that time Matt managed to get a foot under the ropes. They wrestled and brawled all over the ring and onto the floor. Both men used a chair and the guardrail to draw blood, but both knew this needed to be settled in the ring. Matt went for a Twist of Fate, but Orton turned it into an attempted RKO, but Matt pushed him off and nailed a big clothesline. Matt was able to finish off the bout at 23:40 with a flying elbow hammer.
Bout #7: Erick Stevens vs. Austin Aries - CCW TV Title - Aries knew that he would be out-sized here, but he also knows that he wins his matches by being quick and more accurate than his opponents. This is exactly was Aries started the bout doing. He hurt Erick with some hard moves, but was unable to get him down for a pin attempt. Stevens was able to swing the tide some with a good explosion of offense, but Aries regained control. Aries ran across the ring and attempted a splash, but Stevens moved and Austin crashed to the floor. Shaken by the miss and hard landing, Stevens capitalized and used his Sarasota Screwdriver to win the TV title at 12:10.
