In COTG it's pretty easy. A new game year comes around and you get a new set. Wrestlers age and get better as they go into their prime and worse as they come out of it and eventually retire. In LOW there's nothing like that, so you get stuck with this sense that everything happens in a vacuum which makes it really tough for me to keep an LOW fed going. What do you do about this?

I use this as my model & it keeps things fresh. I use a handful of "cornerstone" wrestlers and/or tag teams and then rotate the roster when new editions come out. Like who teamed or feuded with new guys then put them in a happy little package called the LWF. Of course this could be thrown out depending on my mood, once I kept the champions and replaced everyone else.

When I first started WCW up I was literally trying to use every single wrestler in the game, plus my personal bootlegs. Now I have trimmed the roster down and I'm going to release and sign talent as I see fit. For example right now Andre the Giant has been pretty lackluster (I find if he tosses someone out of the ring and that person makes a comeback Andre doesn't kick out of a finisher with any kind of plus) if this trend continues WCW will release him and bring in some fresh blood. I also date my cards and play under the ruling that everyone is in their prime which makes for some interesting match ups.

I agree with ewt. You choose who you want to be your stars that the fed is geared around, and then rotate guys in an out as you see fit. If someone's on a losing streak, or just doesn't fit with what you're doing at the time, there's so many wrestlers to choose from, you just take them out, and replace them with someone else. Depending on how you write them out, you may have a storyline for them to come back to down the line. From time to time you may even want to cycle out your cornerstone guys for a bit just to keep them fresh. For example, Bobo Brazil was my first World champ, and he had over a year(game time) run with the title, beating all the top stars, some of them multiple times. When he finally lost the title, because of the run he had, I had the storyline that he needed some time off due to his exhausting schedule. Seeing is how he was one of hte top faces in my fed, when I found an opening where a big time baby face was needed, I brought him back in.

I did that with the Sheik and he will be returning during the next "season" (when the next Legends edition comes out) aas I have have plans to team him with Johnny Valentine.

When I started my fed I'd use time (starting in 2072, because that's as far back as LOW/COTGOnline went at the time). But I've grown away from using online since I've set up my own websites and I kind of like the method Tom uses, or seems to use from reading his results.
There's just card #'s. They aren't ever dated. Who knows when a new year begins or ends (except maybe by supercards)? THis really frees things up, in my mind.
As for talent, I mainly only use WWF guys from the 80's, sprinkled with a few other names. This leaves a HUGE pool of guys to bring in for short stints or one nighters to see if they stick.
Recently I've been going through the stacks of guys I don't use and booking one or two night tournaments so I get a chance to play with cards I don't normally use and if I like a card or two, I'll use them in my main fed.
Another thing I do is always stick by Injuries and Loser Leaves Town results. Those things get guys out of the fed for a few cards and gives me a chance to focus on other talent.

I just number my cards and use it as every 100 cards is the start of a new year. I try to honor loser leaves the fed (or territory) stips as well and always keep a large inactive pile so I can cycle guys in and out of the five territories I run. Current inactive guys include Jim Londos, Don Leo Jonathan, and The Sandman so I have room to bring in some big names when I'm looking for a change. I use to use bootlegs but cycled all of them out except for Jerry Lawler (due to my Memphis fed) and women because I like having a large active roster. I will cycle some of the bootleg women out when we get more official cards. I play as if everyone is in the prime of their career so I don't have to think about upgrading or downgrading anyone. It's just the way it is as it can't be used the same way as COTG with guys coming in as rookies or retiring. Just my two cents

I deal with time by creating a timeline complete with title histories, PPV results, etc. I am currently on Year Four of my LOW fed and Year Three of my LOTF fed and I plan on adding many more years to both of them. I just ignore the aging thing for LOW and LOTF as I know all the Legends wrestlers (unlike COTG wrestlers) will always be in their prime and it really does not bother me at all.

I am setting up a project for my friends and i, and I like to specify a specific "year" the Wrestler is representing.
Ex on the Roster and Data page, it would say Randy Savage ('89) Age:35
