Well Azfan it looks like we agree on this issue. I for one do not like all the online inclusive stuff, but at the same time it does make sense business wise and you can do more stuff (is sadly missing out on all Mark's POW stuff ). But it is what it is and that is not this topic. I think Tom is figuring with an online handbook he can go as long as he wants and add more depth or down the line revisit something and change it to make something work better. Perhaps to better flesh out an ongoing situation and develop it. Actually re-visiting an old idea Tom actually talked about and I have heard mentioned before is to turn the handbook into a comic book style. Maybe issue #1 for that year introduces the major happenings and an issue every two months that way we get the story in bursts instead of everything getting revealed right away in the handbook. As a one time writer, I could see how just the handbook could get frustrating at times. I have even noticed sometimes handbooks go 2-3 months into the year and Tom wants to develop characters rather then just so so does this.

I hoped the idea that the handbook would be on-line wouldn't be so upsetting to people.
Honeslty, it was a brief discussion and Tom only mentioned it in passing as an idea he was thinking about. He also specifically said he will ALWAY make sure the GWF editions are available as cards.
Really, it came up because we were talking about the Cosmic Battle storyline and how great Kris Osk's stories were and Tom said that he would love to be able to have more room to develop storylines and pay attention to some characters who get a little neglected due to time/printing constraints.
Just as an option. And a shorter hardcopy handbook would probably be available I imagine if you don't want to go on-line and get a PDF version.
And the handbook edition in chapter form is basically what Kris is doing with aCe, so it's not as if the online stuff is new to promoters. For the good of the game as awhole, this is the way things are going to have to evolve.

I really like the idea of having the handbooks replaced by a monthly (Semi-monthly/) publication... imagine if the promoter was, say three times as long, and had 'in character' stuff from the various sets...granted it may be slightly more time intensive to produce, but we could get some real depth and development foe the main characters.. in essence (pardon the pun) that's what the insert set concept is going to be like for ACE I think, althought not quite that often...
I'm picturing an online promoter that would be 20-30 pages long, with the content that it has now, and maybe 5-10 pages of story for each of the three active feds.... with you receiving, oh, maybe 5 or six cards at the same time as the publication posts. (maybe with minor onlin only tweaks as aACE is going to have) It would be good fo FG, since they'd have money coming in all the time(I'm picturing each 'issue' with cards to cost around $15 if you want printed cards, maybe $8-$10 if you want it all online, with a discount if you subcribe), instead of just when the new sets come in, and it'd be good for us, since we'd have new stuff all the time.

That's a LOT of writing and this isn't the "real" job for any of the writers.
Plus..and maybe it's just me...but with all that updating I'd feel like I'm losing a little freedom as a promoter. I'd feel like I have to adjust my storlyines every time an update come out.
Just MO.

Ironically, that would force Tom to go back to something he seemed to disdain in the first place.....he was having a tough enough time writing two sets in a year...much less multiple updates. While it coudl be fun, it would also feel like a lot of guys were having to get constantly tweaked due to Tom wanting to keep the rosters low.

All the spoilers sound good, and art looks pretty darn cool! I'm most looking forward to the updated Swarm, Tricks, and Gryt. I've always liked the Swarm and Tricks characters, and will be looking forward to getting this feud a shot in the arm. Gryt has just been a complete loser in my fed, and hopefully this will give him enough boost to reach higher.

I wonder if Tricks and/or Gryt went through the transevolver. We haven't seen a transevolved character since Steele Freak. Afterall, he spent $1,000,000 for it, why not use it?

Gryt would be my pick if you're going that route.
