OMEGA IV: Drowning 04.27.2119 from Titan Memorial Athletic Complex
- Opening Ceremony - Sometimes I hate that chaos surrounds me When all the answers that I see go around me Am I drowning? Am I fading away? Or am I living up to all your dreams that made me this way?
Crazy Town's "Drowning" welcomed the raucous crowd to the start of OMEGA IV. The fans were on their feet and screaming from the first few notes, and remained on their feet until the song had run its course. They settled down for the MAC's traditional moment of silence, then burst into an unlikely ovation as the first fighter's music played over the arena's sound system.
Kulak "the Czar" Romanov vs. J.J. Smooth Kulak "the Czar" Romanov defeated J.J. Smooth with a referee stoppage at 12:50 Match Rating: 3.50 Match Notes: You're going down, down, down... Call me Smooth...
With his mother's hand folded into the crook of his large arm, J.J. Smooth made his way to the hexagon. He looked completely overwhelmed as he soaked in the cheers of the crowd, and his mother took up a position in his corner as his music died and his opponent's majestic anthem took its place. Romanov made his way out amidst a smattering of boos, but his lack of expression suggested that they didn't bother him--assuming he noticed them at all.
After the referee went over his instructions and called for the bell, Romanov got off to an immediate advantage, rocking J.J. with stiff kicks and some powerful fists. Step by step, he backed J.J. across the hexagon, until his back was to the ropes. Before the referee could order a break, Smooth bounced forward and landed a huge desperation left that rocked Kulak back a step. He followed up with another right, and the man from Umbriel went down to one knee.
J.J. wisely held back, waiting for "The Czar" to climb back to his feet. He landed a few more jabs, then unloaded with a HUGE uppercut that sent Romanov crashing to the canvas. Kulak rolled to the ropes and used them to haul himself up and buy a moment's respite. For the first time, the crowd could see that he was bleeding from an ugly split across the bridge of his nose.
Romanov closed with Smooth and delivered a few punches and kicks, but there was clearly nothing behind them. He practically staggered into a clinch, and J.J. took him up and over with an incredible belly-to-belly suplex. Romanov's superior ground game kept J.J. from following up and allowed him to regain his composure, eventually escaping and making his way to his feet.
Kulak closed with his opponent once again, throwing a series of punches to his ample midsection, but they seemed to have no effect. J.J. grabbed hold of his Sambo uniform and threw him down for the second time in the match. Romanov quickly regained his feet rather than allowing J.J. to follow him to the canvas, and walked into a monstrous right hand, directly to the wound across his nose. "The Czar" dropped hard, and J.J. moved in for the kill.
Smooth tried to show off some ground skills, only to reveal that he didn't have any. Romanov was able to reverse his way into a key lock, which Smooth countered by reaching for the ropes. Kulak took the extended arm and tried rolling into an arm bar, but Smooth tucked his own hand against his body and tried to block it. Romanov responded with a series of blows to the midsection that loosened J.J.'s grip, until he could finally haul back on the arm bar with full power. J.J.'s eyes teared up and he pounded his fist on the mat, but incredibly, he refused to submit! Realizing that the big guy was running on adrenaline and not common sense, the referee called for the bell and ordered Romanov to break the hold.
- Inside the Hexagon - After the referee had called off the match, Roe Jogan hurried into the ring to get a word with the winner.
"Hey! Hey, Kulak! I thought--HEY!"
Scowling fiercely, Romanov pushed the skinny announcer aside and marched towards his opponent, laying face down and clutching at his shoulder. With a savage glee in his dark eyes, "The Czar" began laying hellacious stomps into the point of J.J.'s shoulder while the big guy howled in agony. Within seconds, it was clear that Smooth's shoulder was no longer shaped the way it should be.
Olyvia Swinden quickly crawled beneath the hexagon and pulled herself up to her full four-foot-eleven. She advanced on Romanov and began lecturing him, shaking her finger in his direction. Romanov sneered, covered her face with his beefy hand, and shoved her backwards--hard. The crowd gasped as Mrs. Swinden teetered, then fell onto her backside and elbows. The referee ordered Kulak out of the ring, and the smirking man from Umbriel complied, returning to the locker room while some of the more diehard fans pelted him with garbage. Dr. Sememe and his staff rushed past him and hit the ring to tend to J.J. and his mother, both of whom were clearly hurt.
Pendekar vs. Hadrian Pendekar defeated Hadrian with a forfeit at 0:00 Match Notes: Dr. Moreau led Hadrian out to the ring first, and the crowd (still incensed after Kulak Romanov's cowardly actions) was in no mood for the bizarre scientist and his freak show. They booed them both savagely and threw bits of trash at the ape-man as he marched up the aisle, following his handler listlessly. In contrast, the fans jumped to their feet and burst into cheers as Pendekar's eerily soothing entrance music began playing and the Pencak Silat master made his way to the hexagon.
Pendekar has barely made his way through the ropes when Dr. Curja Sememe made his second appearance of the night, coming to the hexagon at a half-run, and carrying some sort of computer printout. He slid into the hexagon and called over the referee. They began talking animatedly, casting many glances over at Dr. Moreau and Hadrian. Roe Jogan hopped up onto the apron, and the referee finally went over and whispered something to him, then walked up to Pendekar.
Jogan: "This is incredible! The referee has just been informed that Hadrian tested positive for the drug methyltetracaine, and has been disqualified from competing. Your winner by forfeit--Pendekar!"
Sure enough, the referee raised Pendekar's hand while Dr. Moreau threw an absolute fit. Obviously, Moreau had administered the drug to his charge hoping its pain-numbing properties would help him resist Pendekar's vast repertoire of submission holds. Dr. Sememe took Hadrian (who, in truth, seemed a little unsteady on his feet) by the arm and began leading him out of the hexagon. Meanwhile...
Moreau: "No! No! No! No, this isn't going to happen! We want our revenge, and if you won't clear Hadrian to fight, then I demand Pendekar fight Nero!"
At the sound of his name, Moreau's other pet burst out of the back and came loping down the aisle, his quadricep apparently healed. The referee shook his head and told Moreau that he was out of luck, bur Pendekar stepped in and agreed to fight the replacement. The referee asked if he was certain, then ordered the fighters to their respective corners and called for the bell...
Pendekar vs. Nero Nero defeated Pendekar with a TKO at 5:29 Match Rating: 0.50 Match Notes: The match began with the competitors trading punches and kicks, giving Pendekar an immediate, huge advantage. After getting staggered with a devastating right hand, Nero all but fell into a clinch. Pendekar adjusted his hands and took the larger man up and over with a devastating osoto makikomi!
As if proving a point, Pendekar simply stepped back and waited for Nero to regain his feet. They circled one another warily, trading an occasional punch or kick, until Pendekar finally saw his opening and waded in, prepared to unload on Nero. He took one step, then stumbled as Dr. Moreau reached in and hooked his ankle, drawing a huge roar of protest from the crowd. Pendekar's attention was momentarily diverted, allowing Nero to grab him from behind and power him up and over.
Nero fell with his full weight on top of Pendekar, and immediately shifted position so that he had a knee across the smaller man's back. With Pendekar restrained, Nero began to hammer the back of his head with a flurry of savage punches. Pendekar tried to block as many as he could, but in his awkward position too many got through, forcing the referee to step in and stop the match.
Even so, once the bell had sounded and Pendekar dropped his hands, thinking he was safe, Nero unloaded with one last fist to the base of Pendekar's skull. The blow landed flush, with no protection at all, and Pendekar slumped to the mat, completely unconscious. The referee screamed at Nero, but the strange creature simply looked at him with guileless eyes, as if he simply hadn't understood the significance of the bell. Dr. Moreau hastily collected his charge and led him to the back while the medical staff raced out to tend to Pendekar.
Paralyze vs. Romulus Paralyze defeated Romulus with a knockout at 7:18 Match Rating: 0.50 Match Notes: Turn it up!
The crowd shook off its malaise over the night's second straight cheap injury when The Punks' hip-hop music blasted from the speakers and Romulus made his way to the hexagon. He did not move with his usual enthusiasm, nor stop to greet the fans in the front row; he simply stepped in between the ropes and took up a position in his corner while "Bombshell" announced the arrival of the calm, confident Paralyze.
The referee called the men to the center of the hexagon for instructions, then called for the bell. The two men stood face to face (or rather, face to chest) for a moment, with the nearly seven-foot Paralyze towering over the 5'8" Romulus. Finally, the Cruiserweight sighed, lifted his head...and threw a wild haymaker that snapped Paralyze's head back!
Romulus stepped back and held his fists up, ready to defend himself, while Paralyze slowly straightened his head and glared at Romulus. The smaller man dashed in again and threw another big fist, connecting with Paralyze's jaw. The big man shook his head, then shoved Romulus back, only to have him come running forward, throwing more punches and landing one on the Aethran's cheek.
Paralyze shoved Romulus back again, all the way into the ropes. Incredibly, he did not follow--he simply stood his ground and motioned for Romulus to come at him again. Romulus obliged and came in swinging; he caught Paralyze with a stiff right, then a hard left before Paralyze finally reared back and knocked him down with one punch.
Paralyze followed Romulus to the mat and landed some heavy punches, but the man from the Lunar Colony was able to cover up. Abandoning the ground and pound, Paralyze grabbed Romulus by the head and tried to secure a neck crank, but Romulus rolled through, escaped the Aethran's grasp, and came up to his feet. Romulus took a couple steps back, bent down and struck the mat with both fists...and motioned for Paralyze to come and get him!
The crowd went absolutely wild, and even Paralyze had to shake his head in amazement as he hoisted himself to his feet. Romulus charged towards him, only to get caught and tossed halfway across the hexagon with a devastating belly-to-belly throw. Romulus popped up and charged again, and ate a solid haymaker that finally put him down for the count.
- Inside the Hexagon - After the match was over and the referee had raised Paralyze's hand, he went over to check on Romulus, who was just now sitting up and obviously had no idea where he was. Without warning, Paralyze came up behind the official and shoved him aside. The referee sprung to his feet immediately and began shouting at Paralyze, threatening him with fines and suspensions if he launched another post-match assault.
Instead, Paralyze reached down, grabbed Romulus by the arms, and propped him up in the corner. He slapped the youngster's face twice--just hard enough to knock some sense back into him, and Romulus immediately brought his fists up, ready to continue the fight.
Paralyze shook his head, wrapped his hands around Romulus' fists (with ease, I might add), and shoved them down. He stared at Romulus for a moment, then gave him the barest of nods before turning his back and leaving the hexagon.
Raze vs. Quetzal Raze defeated Quetzal with a submission (rear naked choke) at 2:27 Match Rating: 0.50 Match Notes: The crowd was still hot from the incredible scene between Paralyze and Romulus, and were positively rabid by the time both men had made it to the ring and received their instructions. The referee called for the bell, and Raze rushed forward, knocking Quetzal down with an immediate, vicious left. He went to the ground and tried to secure a guillotine choke, but Quetzal was able to get his hand up, blocking the pressure across his throat. Raze released the pressure just enough to allow Quetzal to attempt to squirm free, which he did. The masked man had barely begun to twist his way loose, however, when Raze shifted positions and clamped down again, this time going for a rear naked choke.
Quetzal still had a hand in the way, blocking the hold, and he tried to power his way up to his feet, hoping to break free. Raze rode him all the way up, and once Quetzal had almost--but not quite--found his balance, the angry fighter pivoted and popped his hips, lifting Quetzal up and driving him face-first to the mat. The impact stunned Quetzal, who instinctively tried to push himself up with both hands. This allowed Raze to finally lock in the choke, and Quetzal was quick to tap out.
Shylock vs. Indigo for the OMEGA Heavyweight Championship Shylock defeated Indigo with a knockout at 16:48 Match Rating: 4.50 Match Notes: It's the final countdown!
Shylock was full of surprises, coming out in a gorgeous, sequined robe with the belt over his shoulder. More interestingly--he was accompanied to the ring by Splatter, who clapped for the champion as he mounted the second turnbuckle and held his title belt high overhead in dramatic fashion. Indigo, by contrast, came out without music or fanfare--and received an enthusiastic response from the fans, many of whom booed Shylock and his showboating. The fighters received instructions and Splatter took up his position in Shylock's corner, and the referee called for the bell.
The two men circled, exchanged a feint or two, then finally stepped up and began laying into one another with their best shots. Fists were flying and the crowd cheered with every blow, even when it seemed Shylock was building a measurable advantage. They cheered even more loudly, however, when Indigo stepped back and unloaded with a high kick that caught Shylock flush on the jaw. The Heavyweight champion was rocked, staggered back several steps, and crashed to the canvas.
Indigo charged forward, but Shylock was already up to his knees. He threw up his hands to defend himself as Indigo unloaded with some devastating punches, culminating in an uppercut that lifted Shylock's chin into perfect position for an undefended left hook which sent him sprawling to the mat again. Indigo dropped down and tried to secure an arm lock, but Shylock worked his way to the ropes, forcing a break.
Once both men were on their feet, Shylock tied up Indigo's arms and held onto the clinch, buying himself a moment to gather his wits. Indigo pushed the champ into the ropes to force the break, but the momentary respite was enough. Shylock shook off the cobwebs and stepped up to face Indigo with his fists at the ready.
Champion and challenger traded a few punches before Shylock was able to connect with a fierce sternum punch that left Indigo breathless. He immediately shot in for a single-leg takedown, but Indigo had enough sense to prevent the champ from getting inside his guard once they were on the ground. The fighters' amateur wrestling skills came to the forefront as they rolled on the canvas, each jockeying for the advantage and ultimately lifting one another up to their respective feet.
In the clinch, Shylock managed to land a good dozen punches to Indigo's ribs, and he soon had the challenger in trouble. He pushed the Delta back, and followed with some hard shots, most of which Indigo was able to block. Just when things seemed dark for the challenger, he mounted a comeback and began landing a few punches of his own. He set Shylock up with a series of jabs, worked his way in close, then unloaded with a monstrous uppercut that sent Shylock to the mat. He hopped up immediately, but turned his head and spit out a mouthful of blood.
Tasting his own blood seemed to wake the champion up. He went toe-to-toe with Indigo, throwing some heavy punches and ducking or blocking most of Indigo's return blows. He worked his way into the clinch and hooked Indigo's leg, then elevated him with a high pick-up and slam that shook the mat. Shylock dropped down into Indigo's guard and dropped a few elbow shots, but the challenger was able to twist himself out of trouble and reach the ropes. The referee ordered the break and both men climbed to their feet for a staredown. Shylock spit another mouthful of blood, and the crowd went absolutely wild.
They met in the center of the ring and traded another series of punches, but this time, Shylock targeted Indigo's weakened midsection. Another sternum punch drove the air from Indigo's lungs, leaving him gasping. Shylock measured him with an overhand right, then drove another fist into Indigo's chest. The challenger finally crumpled to the mat, and the epic fight was over.
- Inside the Hexagon - After the referee had returned the belt to Shylock (who snatched it away from him possessively), Roe Jogan rushed into the ring for a word with the champ. He slipped passed the referee and a groggy Indigo just as Splatter was fastening the belt around Shylock's waist.
Jogan: "Hey! Hey, Shylock! Those brutal low kicks of yours were causing some serious bruising on his thighs!"
Shylock: "Yeah, they... Wait...what?"
Jogan: "Never mind. You just defended your title in the match of the night, probably the match of the year. Was Indigo tougher than you expected?"
Shylock: "Roe, he got in a couple lucky shots, but the end was never in question. I'm quicker than he is, I'm stronger than he is--I'm just better than he is."
Jogan: "Word from the back is that Pendekar's got some massive head trauma, and will be out of action for a couple months, at least. With him out of the picture, is there anyone you want to fight?"
Shylock: "The real question is, is there anyone left who wants to fight me. I beat Pendekar, I beat Killian--I just now killed Indigo. Who's left?"
Jogan: "Word is Gunnar wants a shot."
Shylock: "Ha! Gunnar? He can step up if he wants--I'll just knock his ass down, like everyone else. No one in this league can beat me, Roe. No one."
Splatter: "That's enough questions, Jogan. The champ's tired, and we have a long way to go tonight."
Jogan: "You heard it here, folks! That wraps up tonight's card. We'll see you in a month for Omega Five--Violence Fetish. I'm Roe Jogan, live at the Mac, and we're out of here like a long ball!"

You know, maybe by the time Rage enters OMEGA, it may be time for a Paralyze update.
THAT will be one of the scariest fighters ever!
awsome job, sir.

The dice were good to me on this card.
To J.J. and Pendekar, they were not so good.
Dr. Moreau's Trainer Card really cost his man this time around. Good thing Nero was back to take on Pendekar.

It was only a matter of time...
OMEGA management has agreed to sign the most anticipated rematch of the year: Paralyze-Puma II! And in an unprecedented (-ish) move, President Kavanagh is turning to the fans to decide the stipulations!
Here are the choices:
1) Straight-up, normal rules: This is OMEGA, not some Pro Wrestling Dog & Pony Show! Just sign the match and let them fight under traditional MMA rules.
2) Six Sides of Steel: Hardened steel bars spaced a foot apart, running horizontally and vertically. The bars will be set up inside the ropes, and reinforced with overlapping plates at each of the six turnbuckles so there is literally no give. No rope breaks in this one, and the cage can be used as a weapon!
3) Taipei Death Match: The fighters will tape their hands up, dip their taped in hands in glue, then roll their sticky hands in shards of broken glass. Blood will flow, guaranteed.
4) No Holds Barred: Spine punches? Small joint locks? Eye gouges? All legal in this match. Someone's getting injured, anf injured bad.
This poll will close ten days after the posting date, so make like the great political machines of old: vote early and vote often!
((Note--all three of the listed speicalty matches will be created eventually, but I will start with whichever one wins this poll, assuming the standard rules match doesn't run away with the vote.))

I never, ever thought I'd see the day you would vote for standard rules over a Taipei Death Match. I'm afraid I must insist you surrender your GWF_Hardocre alumni card.
