Lee Child, David Baldacci and Michael Marshall Smith.
Thought I'd kick off with a few names of authors well worth checking out.

for fiction:
Elmore Leonard (I like both his Westerns and his crime thrillers)
John Grisham (earlier this summer I just finished reading The Confession which means I have read everyone of his books except the two Theodore Boone books and I am not sure I am going to read those ones)
Right now I am actually working on my first-ever James Patterson book called "Kiss the Girls." It is really good, so maybe I will read more Patterson books in the future.

'Kiss the Girls' was actually made into a movie, IIRC.
I remember WAY back you mentioning Elmore Leonard before... I picked up a couple of his books... very unique style.. not totally my cup of tea, but definitely good reads.

Yeah, "Kiss the Girls" was a movie almost 15 years ago starring Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman. I remember seeing it and thinking it was a good thriller/horror movie, but this is definitely another case where the book is even better than the movie (which I am about to watch again through Netflix as I should finish the book today.)
