Lions are apparently aiming extremely high for their GM role going after Seahawks GM John Schneider and Steelers GM Kevin Colbert. Colbert is of course the former Lions pro personal man from the Barry years when Detroit made the playoffs 6/10 times in the 90’s and went to the NFC title game.
I fully expected them to just jump on Louis Riddick (which would be fine) but they appear to be aiming much much hire.
Ive got Saleh penciled in as the HC regardless. Sounds like it’s his to take assuming the new GM is on board.

I am with you 100%. I said I wanted them to sign Riddick before he left town after his interview but they are doing the right thing and talking to many top guys that could do a great job. They seem serious about wanting to turn this franchise around. I still like Riddick but with other talented men in the mix it seems the Lions will end up with someone really good. Next 2-3 years will be telling. Could we finally be ready to make that move to a contender or will this all be for naught and we end up just the same old Lions.

Could be worse (Bob Quinn). But I love them even trying to get a big name from Seattle or Pittsburg or even ex Falcon Thomas Dimitroff would be a massive step up from Millen/Mayhew/Quinn. Riddick is riskier and without all that experience and success but he’s certainly a rising name and exciting option. But I like the idea of an experienced, recently successful GM more.

Yea I get the established name/history thing but Riddick is one I have liked for a few years. He has some experience working for teams just not GM and not in a few years. But his insight on TV is really good and he seems level headed not allowing emotions to get in the way. Either way right now it seems like the Lions have great options to pick from.

I told my dad the Lions should petition the NFL to move them to the East. The NFL has the Wings in the East. That way the Lions would have a shot at winning a division soon.

It's been another fun drama-filled season of Lions football. Never a dull moment and win or lose, they always entertain. It's been fun chatting with you fellas in this thread. Hoping for better times ahead, and if the Browns win it all, I'm gonna be pissed, LOL.

Well we have a new GM and coach. Hopefully they work out. In a little over 3 months we will have our first idea about the GM with FA signings and the draft being done.

The Lions hiring a TE from their 0-16 team is the most Lions thing I’ve ever heard.
Nevertheless I’m excited for the new regime. Our new GM is a very exciting hire from an exciting organization (Rams). Our new HC is obviously interesting for many reasons. As a die hard Lions optimist I’ll be rooting for them and hoping it all works out.
I will say I’ve been surprisingly unimpressed with Robert Saleh since being hired by the Jets. Nobody gets an official W or L from their presser but by comparison I enjoyed Dan Campbell and everything he says while Saleh appears much more dry and not real inspiring. Let’s see how it all looks on the field.
GO LIONS!

I'm digging Campbell so far. Incredible press conference but let's see if it holds up when the rubber hits the road.
On a related note, I'd like to see the Royal Rumble pre-show open with Campbell beating the shit out of Patricia and biting his kneecaps off.
