on the pre show, Andy "Right Leg" Ridge defeated Grizzly Redwood to win a spot in Survival of the Fittest.
they also sang happy birthday to Jim Cornette who turns 50 today
they also introduced the commentators, but not Nigel McGuinness
isn't Nigel now doing commentary for ROH?

they also sang happy birthday to Jim Cornette who turns 50 today This cannot be right. I was watching him managing the Express when I was 14 and I'm 40. No way was he 24 at the time.

it might be hard to believe, but Cornette's 50th birthday really is today
intermission now,
first half results:
The Embassy's Tommaso Ciampa & Rhino defeated Jay Lethal and Homicide.
Shelton Benjamin defeated Mike Bennett
Young Bucks defeated Future Shock and the Bravados in an elimination match
El Generico vs Jimmy Jacobs ended in a non contest when (as I was expecting since he also appeared at Best in the World) Kevin Steen showed up
before they could escort him out, Steen almost gave Cary Silkin a PACKAGE PILEDRIVER in the center of the ring.

the rest of tonight's results:
Charlie Haas defeated Michael Elgin
Eddie Edwards defeated Roderick Strong in the Ringmaster's Challenge match. Strong pinned Edwards in the first fall and Edwards made Strong submit in the second fall.
In the 3rd fall, the 15 minute iron man match, Strong got the first pinfall when Truth Martini reached through the ropes to hold Edwards down. During the 30 second rest period between falls, Edwards then went after Martini who slid into the ring with Edwards in pursuit and Edwards was grabbed by Strong who held him while Martini attempted to hit Edwards with the Book of Truth. but Edwards got out of the way and Martini instead accidentally hit Strong instead right as the 30 second rest period ended and Edwards pinned Strong right away to immediately even things up.
The 15 minutes expired with Strong and Edwards tied and it was initially declared a draw. But then Jim Cornette showed up and said they were going to Sudden Death and Edwards got the pinfall to win the match.
In the main event, the ANX defeated the Briscoes in the Ladder War III. Awesome match and the end came down to Kenny King and Jay Briscoe on top of the ladder and King knocked Jay off the ladder to grab the contract for a tag team title shot at Glory By Honor X. Afterward, King used Jay's blood to write ANX on the envelope containing the title shot (Jay was lying in a complete puddle of blood under his head in the ring when this one ended.)
Death Before Dishonor IX was definitely worth the $15 I paid to watch tonight and it is worth getting on DVD (especially if you did not watch the IPPV.) I don't think it was as good as last year's Death Before Dishonor VIII, but that is partly because last year's Death Before Dishonor VIII was one of the best IPPVs I ever saw by any Indy fed.
now, can the ANX win the ROH World Tag Team Championship at Glory by Honor X in November?

I ended up having to go bowling so I missed the first half of the show, but I will probably watch it tomorrow after football. From the looks of things it was a pretty good show, and I loved the ladder Wars. I know I will be getting ROH IPPVs in the future.

It was a great show. Steen's showing was pretty insane. Glad Mark Briscoe didn't die during the Ladder War!

It is right, I am 40 also. so in 1986, He was 25 and I was 15. Cornette and my brother was born in the same year of 1961. WOW I thought that he was like 45 until I saw his biography on wikipedia.

I don't think it was as good as last year's Death Before Dishonor VIII, but that is partly because last year's Death Before Dishonor VIII was one of the best IPPVs I ever saw by any Indy fed. Death Before Dishonor VIII was one of the top to bottom BEST wrestling cards I've EVER seen. I'd put it right up there with this year's Money in the Bank as the two best pay per view events that I've seen pretty much since John Cena first became WWE champion. If you can get your hands on it, do. This year's show sounded like it was the typical ROH pay per view as of late... really slow first half, and then really picks up second half. I don't know if Michael Elgin, Tommasso Ciampa, or "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett are as good as ROH wants us to believe, but maybe they will break through like the All Night Express eventually did. I can imagine what the Strong-Edwards match was like, and I like that style so I will try to pick this show up at some point.

I've seen Michael Elgin wrestle before, he is pretty good and pretty strong too. At an ROH show in Canada that I went to, Michael Elgin hit his Stampede Slam on Adam Cole and Grizzly Redwood at the same time.
