MAIN EVENT ENDING FOR BOUND FOR GLORY CHANGED FROM ORIGINAL PLAN
- PWInsider.com is reporting that Bobby Roode was supposed to win the main event of Bound For Glory yesterday on pay-per-view and become the new TNA World Heavyweight champion however Hulk Hogan used his influence to have the decision changed. Hogan, according to the website, wanted Angle over on the basis that Roode - a seven year loyal TNA Superstar - was still "not ready" to carry the title. The decision was then reversed to keep the title on Kurt Angle, who was suffering from groin injuries and was in bad shape after their match. Hogan keeps making enemies in the TNA locker room especially with those who helped built TNA after recently he blasted AJ Styles for missing an appearance apparently not knowing that Styles wasn't there after he had to go back home following the death of a family member.

To me there were two and a half good matches, and a big letdown at the end. Bully Ray and Anderson had a solid looking brawl if one is into that kind of thing, and I'd pay to see another one of these for $15 at a theater. No way I'd pay full price to sit at home and watch, though. However, that goes for all WWE and TNA PPVs these days so that's not necessarily and indictment of this show.
I thought you didn't watch TNA on Thursdays. Main event ending was pretty weak, but I've seen worse in the days of WCW's big nWo run. Lots worse. Actually, I can think of things from the WWF/WWE that were of equal "no-goodness".
As Sinclair points out above, apparently they were going to end it the right way and take the belt off the aging, way past his prime and so hurt he can't have a good match anymore Angle and give it to Roode, but Hogan lobbied for it to be changed the day of the show. At least, SOMEONE did and all signs point to it being Hogan. But that's a can of worms for someone else to get into on a different thread if they want.

I thought you didn't watch TNA on Thursdays. Like anyone has to TNA to know their pay shows are any different from what they do on Thursdays ...but I've seen worse in the days of WCW's big nWo run. Lots worse. Actually, I can think of things from the WWF/WWE that were of equal "no-goodness". Sounds like you are trying to justify your enjoyment with this show by bringing up past WWE/WCW shows you thought sucked. I can't tell. This is the thing about the Hogan face turn that proves it was a one night stand thing with no long term positive result or pay off. You can't turn Hogan face then allow him to go outside of co. lines and be his real life dick self talking shit about the hot new babyface the company has been pushing down everyone's throats. This is like an NFL team drafting a new QB and the coach completely shits on him. If everyone at the top of any company is not on the same page then it's not going to work. And pushing anyone who isn't boys with Hogan is not going to work as long as TNA wants to keep Hogan happy (for whatever inane reason). Long story short, it was a one match show with a open and close nostalgic payoff for Hogan and business as usual for the rest of the roster. Bobby Roode is no more over today than he was going in which honestly makes the show an F considering the whole point was to create a new "star" here and they failed miserably.

I don't ever justify anything. To me it was a two and a half match show (Hogan/Sting being the half match). You just wrote that it was the "most vapid ending you'll ever see" and I noted that I've seen things equally as vapid having watched 24+ years of PPV wrestling events. That's all. In fact I wrote that the ending really ruined a great deal of my enjoyment. If there's something deserving no justification it was the end of that PPV.
As for Hogan, I am still holding out hope that the real Hulk Hogan disappeared in 2005 and was replaced by an evil android doofus. That's the only way I can retain any positive childhood Hulkamania memories.

I haven't. That ending was like a gray sky. No celebration from the winner and the show ends with the face sitting calmly in the corner, his arms on his knees with no expression. Dead air. Roode didn't stand for a round of applause, something you would expect if the goal was to make him look good in a losing effort. They didn't do any of that. They didn't accomplish anything with that match. It just kinda ended with nothing happening.

You know, the more I think about it the more I can see your point. I enjoyed most of the show up to that point and they lost me at the end. I can recall some really uninspiring In Your House main event endings and some anticlimactic stuff from WCW in the 90s, but I don't recall actually being quite so nonplussed about a wrestling main event in a long, long time as I was by the one this weekend. Literally everyone watching in that theater just sat there and asked each other if it was really over, expecting some reversal of the decision and Roode to win on a restart or something. Then it was just over.
On a funny note, someone who was at the live event said Tommy Dreamer was at the door as they left and shook some hands telling people "thanks for coming. Sorry for the **** finish." This being Tommy Dreamer they were talking about, I tend to believe that happened.
I still say I'll buy the DVD to watch the matches I did enjoy, but I think I'll buy the TNA video game, recreate the main event booked properly, and edit that into a Lucas style remake disc.
(you know, I write off the wall stuff like that and I'm always concerned someone will think I'm serious. That written, I'm hitting the reply button anyway)

Finally watched BFG
UK version sadly Mexican American v Ink Inc wasnt shown . DAMN
But matches Aries/Kendrick , RVD/Jerry Lynn and Mr Anderson/Bull Ray
Knockouts great that Velvert won the belt . But it was more like a tag match than 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 . Then Karen as the referee . Maybe once ignoring the count but after that it was a farce .
A.J/Daniels What the hell is all this about ? Where is all this going ? .
Sting/Hogan pretty poor . The return of Hulkamania , hope not not as a wrestler surely . Now all is forget by Dixie , after everything that Hogan did to her ?
