I watched the end of RAW, JR did make Cole tap out with a weak version of the ankle lock. It was so fake looking, might as well have been a spinning toe hold!? Pretty lame showing.

I didn't watch the show, but I read the report from last night's RAW and it seems that Triple H is still the storyline COO, he's just been removed as GM of RAW (removed by Vince McMahon who was let go from his official duties with the company a few months ago, but that's neither here nor there). NOW, how is a guy supposed to be an effective COO if he doesn't even have control of part of the company he's supposed to be running? Makes my head hurt. This reminds me of when JJ Dillon returned to WCW and allegedly was able to remove Eric Bischoff from power only to later have Bischoff fire him. Story continuity. It's not that hard!

From a continuity standpoint, I believe that WWE handled this okay. In the storyline, Vince is still the Chairman of the Board but no longer running day-to-day operations. The Board of Directors decided to remove HHH from his day-to-day responsibilities running Raw and chose to have Lauranitis as interim GM. They told Vince to communicate this change to HHH (who as COO still is under the Chairman in the corporate hierarchy). A bit far-fetched, but consistent.

To add on to this, there have been many, many times in which Vince, as COO and Chairman of the Board, has been removed from his seat of power on Monday Night Raw. While I haven't been wild about some of the choices they have made for storyline specifics, I do like the idea that I heel is usurping power from a face for once, and not vice versa.
