Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this. Last weekend it former Penn State Defensive Coordinator Jerry Sandusky was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting at least one teenage boy. It later came out that an incident involving Sandusky and a young boy was reported to Paterno in 2002. Paterno reported the incident to Penn State and recently made statements he believed what he was told. Paterno didn't witness the incident was just told about it but after 30 years of working closely with Sandusky you would think Paterno and Penn State would have had some inclination about Sandusky and his issues with young boys. Plus if Paterno truly believed what he was told like he says you would think he would have either reported the incident to the police and pushed Penn State to report it. Should Paterno forced to resign and should he be allowed to continue ?

With all the corruption that has taken place in the College game, this is the sickest thing that could happen to date. Honestly those who knew of this incident should no longer hold a job in sports or the offices of administration. Joe Paterno should resign after this season if not now from Penn State, I don't see this dark cloud ever going away from what was a historic career even if Paterno had nothing to do with the actual incident...

Definitely the biggest scandal ever in college sports. JoePa knew all of this, and so did many, many others - making it that much worse. I think Paterno needs to step down immediately or be removed now. Let one of the coordinators finish the season and then all of them need to be let go as well.
You have to totally clean house in that program if you even want to think about continuing the PSU football program. The administrators need to be removed as well. This is a criminal matter, not a moral one. They didn't break a minor NCAA rule like scheduling too much practice time. They broke the law.
The school and program need heavy sanctions that go far and beyond what USC received. The more you read about this story, the worse it gets. Very sad and disturbing story.

It's official as of today Joe Paterno will retire at the end of the Season. I honestly think he should retire now and there is no saving face if thats what Penn State Football are trying to do with JoePa. Also it's honestly both a Moral & Criminal matter that allowed this criminal act to happen and to be hidden for a decade...

Crimes are on the opposite end of the spectrum as morals. That's what I meant by that statement. Retiring at the end of the year is not good enough. JoePa needs to go NOW. |

I have a very deep, societal observation on all of this that I plan to type up tonight. Some people will agree some people will strongly disagree and and that's fine. Others won't be able to get it at all. It's not a campaign, or rally or anything like that. Just an observation. But I'm going to lay it out there and it's WAY bigger than what's been discussed here or anywhere else right now regarding this case. Until then, I leave you with this -

Also heard on the news last night that there is going to be a federal investigation into Penn State and the way they handled or didn't handle everything. Hopefully something will come of that. If I'm right Paterno would be considered a mandated reporter en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandated_reporter |

There is a very long post on CBS Sports website that I'm not going to post in its entirety but in the middle of the post it sums up the reality of this situation.
"Don't the idiots understand that this is not about Paterno. F*** Paterno! This is about systemic abuse of children that was ignored by law enforcement, media, and most importantly educators whose job is looking after the welfare and shaping the minds of young men and women."
