GWF - World Title Tournament July 7, 2008 Orlando,FL - O-Rena
First Round 1) BOBO BRAZIL defeated "PLAYBOY" BUDDY ROSE (w/BOBBY HEENAN) with the COCO-BUTT @ 5:18.
Brazil showed why he is one of the favorites in this tournament. He showed speed and strength in dispatching Rose. Heenan tried to get too close to the action and was tossed into the ring and then whipped into Rose in the turnbuckle. Brazil layed in one last COCO BUTT and ref, Tommy Young made the three count.
2) "TERRIBLE" TERRY FUNK beat TED DIBIASE by DISQUALIFICATION @ 3:32 when DiBiase was caught using a chair.
Funk worked the microphone before the bell and ran down not just DiBiase but "his daddy" too. DiBiase hit the ring like a house of fire and the match was on. The action spilled to the outside as Funk tossed Ted through the ropes. But, he was ready for him and launched a steel chair to Funk's face! Ref, Scrappy McGowan had seen enough and called for the bell as blood started to trickle from Funk's forehead. DiBiase and Funk still traded blows on the outside until Funk headed for higher ground.
3) "SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA beat IVAN KOLOFF (w/ GEN. NIKITA BREZNIKOV) by DISQUALIFICATION @ 2:51 when Koloff used his chain.
General Breznikov began to stir up the crowd with the pro-Soviet rhetoric. The crowd was pumped as the Superfly made his way to the ring and watched the Russian scatter. Snuka hit a Power Slam early and then went to the top and hit the SUPERFLY LEAP into a bodypress. Breznikov jumped on the apron and Snuka ran right after him. As he chased the general about the ring, Koloff grabbed his Russian chain, curled it around his arm and gave Snuka running sickle. The ref called for the bell as he saw the infraction. Koloff started pounding away, until DUSTY RHODES ran down the runway and made the save for Snuka before more damage was done.
4) HARLEY RACE (w/BOBBY HEENAN) defeated DAVID VON ERICH with the SWINGING NECKBREAKER @ 7:26.
Race controlled most of the action and used power to offset the younger Von Erich. He didn't need much help from Heenan who looked a little out of it from earlier in the night. After two PILEDRIVERS, Race hit the NECKBREAKER to advance.
5) FRANK GOTCH defeated ILIO DIPAOLO with the GOTCH TOEHOLD @ 2:13.
Gotch entered the ring to no music and held only a white towel in his hand. Before the match started he gave it to Dipaolo in hopes that he would concede early. This angered the Italian and he charged ahead. Gotch was masterful as he locked in an armbar crossface and then his patented leg hold. DiPaolo quickly tapped out and Gotch left as quietly as he arrived.
6) "AMERICAN DREAM" DUSTY RHODES beat BOB ORTON SR. by DISQUALIFICATION @ 4:44 when Orton refused the ref's instructions.
Orton meet Rhodes as he walked through the ropes. This should have been a clue as to how this match would end. Lots of brawling as the match went to the outside. Orton slammed Rhodes against the guard rails several times and ignored ref, Scrappy McGowan who promptly called for the bell. Rhodes was cut but started to fight back and landed a few heavy elbows to drive Orton back.
7) "COOL" CURT HENNIG defeated DON LEO JONATHAN with the AXE @ 8:42.
Jonathan had the advantage until a mistimed Deathjump gave Hennig the opening he needed. Henning rode this momentum to victory as he leapt up to catch the big man just right to knock him to his back.
8) MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/BOBBY HEENAN) defeated JOHNNY VALENTINE with the COBRA HOLD @ 6:43.
A huge roar went up from the crowd as Johnny Valentine made his way to the ring. The fans were a bit flatened when they saw how well Superstar took the fight to their hero. He never let up as systematically wore him down and applied the COBRA in the center of the ring and he was out.

GWF - World Title Tournament July 8, 2008 Orlando,FL - O-Rena
Quarterfinals 1) "TERRIBLE" TERRY FUNK beat BOBO BRAZIL with the SPINNING TOE HOLD @ 11:23.
Brazil never got on track in this contest as Funk attacked him before the bell. Funk used his superior agility to keep himoff balance. The Texan was able to stay away big Bobo and applied his SPINNING TOE HOLD to get the submission and move on to the Semis.
2) HARLEY RACE (w/BOBBY HEENAN) and "SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA went to a DOUBLE DISQUALIFICATION @ 12:26.
Hennan addressed the crowd and wondered if Snuka would even find the building by himself. Snuka made his way to the ring to thunderous applause and gave the fans his trademark "I Love You" signs. He was ready and he and Race were into it quickly. Race tossed him to the outside and shoved ref, Tommy Young to the side and gave a solid headbutt. This had little effect on the Fijian who gave one of his own. Back inside Snuka tossed him to the buckle and Race grabbed the ref and put him in harm's way. Young then went to keep Snuka back, but he shoved Young to the side as well and began to chop away on Race. Young had enough and called for the bell disqualifying both men. This gives Terry Funk a clean shot into the next round.
3) "AMERICAN DREAM" DUSTY RHODES beat FRANK GOTCH with a RUNNING LARIAT @ 16:38.
Gotch walked to the ring with his white towel and silently gave it to Rhodes. The Dream began rubbing it on his backside and threw it out to the crowd. Rhodes used the an unlikely weapon of the top rope to hurt the Iowa native. He landed three elbow drops to the head of Gotch but, a fourth one and Gotch rolled over and got a two count. Gotch then tried to keep the match on the ground. He whipped Rhodes to the corner and was caught with an elbow to the throat. Rhodes then propelled himself off the ropes and landed a stiff LARIAT and got the pin to advance.
4) MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/BOBBY HEENAN) beat "COOL" CURT HENNIG by DISQUALIFICATION @ 7:34.
The crowd was surprisingly on Hennig's side or maybe it's just they hate Heenan more. Henning applied the SLEEPER to the masked man and had him in trouble. Heenan hopped to the apron and Henning released the hold and dragged the wily manager into the ring. Before he could hit a right hand, Superstar gave him a high knee into the buckle. The official had seen enough and ordered Heenan back to the locker room. The match continued and it spilled outside as Superstar flipped Henning over the ropes. He lunged for a clothesline but Hennig whipped him into the steel rails. The ref tried to get them back inside but Hennig turned and tossed the ref on his back as he continued.
Semi-Finals 5) "TERRIBLE" TERRY FUNK moves on to the FINALS with no opponent due to the Race/Snuka double disqualification. Funk launched into a verbal tirade and was literally praying for Dusty Rhodes to make it to the last match. He would win the belt and humiliate "that egg sucking dog!"
6) "AMERICAN DREAM" DUSTY RHODES pinned MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ BOBBY HEENAN) with a ROLL UP @ 16:54.
The fans were clearly behind the Dream as he shucked and jived to the music. Superstar was a stern test as he held the power and agility advantage over the crowd favorite. The match looked grim for Big Dust until he ralled with two BIONIC ELBOWS and applied the WEAVERLOCK. Sensing trouble Heenan tried to come to the rescue and he started screaming at Rhodes to come get him. Dusty was about to oblige and held Heenan across the jacket and was ready to wail on him. Superstar had recovered and went for a double axe smash. Rhodes sidestepped him and he nailed Heenan who went flying to the arena floor. Rhodes then quickly used a school boy pin on the shocked Superstar and the finals match that everyone wanted was up next.
Finals 8) "AMERICAN DREAM" DUSTY RHODES beat "TERRIBLE" TERRY FUNK with the STARDUST PILEDRIVER @ 21:32 to capture the GWF World Heavyweight Title.
A match with all the drama you expect from an epic confrontation. Funk grabbed the mic and ran down Rhodes to the limit before the match began. He didn't just want to beat the man, he wanted to humiliate him! Even at the start, Funk hit a BACK SUPLEX for a two count and grabbed the official to count faster. Rhodes began to dig deep as the crowd pushed him ahead. He hit a BIONIC ELBOW that staggered Funk and then a LARIAT that took him off his feet. But, the PILEDRIVER finished things off as Rhodes held the belt high standing on the second buckle. As Funk began to realize what was happening he was almost in tears on the mat.

GWF - World Tag Team Tournament July 12, 2008 Atlanta,GA - Philipps Arena
First Round 1) YUKON ERIC & DON LEO JONATHAN beat MASKED SUPERSTAR & "PLAYBOY" BUDDY ROSE (w/BOBBY HEENAN) when Eric pinned Rose following the WOODSMAN'S CHOP @ 12:48.
A bit of an upset as most in attendance expected Heenan's men to get the duke. Superstar worked over big Jonathan. He had the COBRA HOLD applied and it took the big man to fall back in the corner to get free. Later all four men were in the ring and Eric used his country power to hurt the Playboy and when the dust settled he and Morman native were set to move on.
2) IVAN KOLOFF & GEN. NIKITA BREZNIKOV beat DAVID & KEVIN VON ERICH by COUNTOUT @ 9:56.
Koloff began as he always does, putting down America and its wrestlers. The Texas duo hit the ring to a loud ovation. Koloff went to work quickly on Kevin and had him locked in the RUSSIAN BEARHUG. But, David entered and broke up the attempt. The Von Erichs rallied against Breznikov and after a FLYING BODY PRESS by Kevin, the Russian Bear dragged the official back to stop the count. Kevin began to protest as the General hit him from behind and tossed him to the floor. As chaos reigned inside, Koloff used his chain and wrapped it on his fist and popped Von Erich across the forehead. He was out. The official not seeing was transpired rang the bell at ten.
3) "SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA & ILIO DIPAOLO beat THE REGULATORS (TERRY FUNK & BOB ORTON SR.) when Snuka pinned Funk after a FLYING HEADBUTT @ 14:35.
Snuka and DiPaolo were an unusual but effective team. Orton and Funk were no nonsense and after an early rally had Dipaolo in trouble in the corner. Funk missed an elbow into the buckle and the hot tag was made to Snuka. The Superfly whipped Funk off the ropes and landed a thunderous chop. He then whipped himself off the ropes and executed a FLYING HEADBUTT that stunned the Amarillo native enough to get the three.
4) THE HEARTBREAKERS (CHRIS CANDIDO & TOM PRICHARD) (w/TAMMY SYTCH) beat B.BRIAN BLAIR & "LIGHTNING" MIKE QUACKENBUSH when Prichard pinned Quackenbush with a FOREIGN OBJECT @ 8:44.
Candido and Prichard moved with expert timing and used several double team moves on the new duo. Blair was able to turn the tables and had a SLEEPER on Candido that was broken up by the Doctor. All four men were in the ring and when the ref restored order it was Prichard getting a pair of knux tossed into him by his lovely second. He blasted young Mike between the eyes and moves to the next round.
-SPECIAL ATTRACTION- 5) SAM HAYNE defeated DELIRIOUS with the DEVIL LOCK @ 6:34.
Just a singles match to let the tag teams catch a breather. Most unsusual as the heel Hayne came to the ring with two batons lit on fire and Delerious grabbed the announcer's mic to give an "promo" on Hayne. It just sounded like gibberish with the word win at the end. Each had opportunities to get the win early. A missed crossbody by the wild Delirious gave Hayne the opening he wanted and hit the DEVIL LOCK to gain the victory.
Semi-Finals 6) YUKON ERIC & DON LEO JONATHAN defeated IVAN KOLOFF & GEN.NIKITA BREZNIKOV when DLJ used the MORMON SWING on Breznikov @ 7:02.
The size and power of Eric and Jonathan was too much for the Russians to deal with. They isolated Nikita and after a WOODMAN'S CHOP, Don Leo used his MORMON SWING to get his team to the finals.
7) THE HEARTBREAKERS (w/ TAMMY SYTCH) defeated "SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA & ILIO DIPAOLO when Candido hit the BLONDE BOMB on Dipaolo @ 6:11.
Candido and Prichard used crisp tags to keep the opposition at bay. Duringa double team sequence, Prichard scooped Dipaolo up and hoisted him into Candido's arms, who was waiting on the top rope and unleashed the BLONDE BOMB, which had to be the move of the night. This set up quite a contrast for the finals.
Finals 8) YUKON ERIC & DON LEO JONATHAN beat THE HEARTBREAKERS (w/ TAMMY SYTCH) when Jonathan used the MORMON SWING on PRICHARD @ 21:33.
The size of Jonathan and Eric versus the speed and questionable tactics of Candido and Prichard. Eric was tough to move off his feet as Prichard found out early. The larger team was in charge most of the contest but Tammy used her charms to allow her men to gain the upper hand. A missed elbow drop by the Doctor of Desire was all DLJ needed to put him awat with the MORMON SWING and to claim the tag team titles.

GWF-TV July 17, 2008 Columbia,SC - Frank McGuire Arena
*BILL APTER and GWF commissioner CHARLIE COX welcome the fans to the program. They rundown the action of the recent World Heavyweight and World Tag Team title tournaments and they will be speaking to both DUSTY RHODES and DON LEO JONATHAN and YUKON ERIC during tonight's show. The main event is a special ten man Battle Royal and the winner gets the GWF North American Heavyweight Title.
1) GEORGE SOUTH beat "DASTARDLY" DANNY DORING @ 8:55 with a SUPLEX.
Doring was in control the majority of the match and began to showboat to the crowd. After a possible pinfall he pulled South's hair up at the last second. He then went to the top rope and South moved out of the way! He quickly sunk in a BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX and hooked the leg for a surprise three. The crowd was delighted as South shook hands with the fans and Doring kicked the ropes in disgust.
INTERVIEW: BILL APTER is with the GWF World tag team champions; DON LEO JONATHAN and YUKON ERIC. Both men are smiling and happy to be in the GWF. Apter mentions that not many people picked them to win the tag belts as they had so little experience as a team. Eric laughed a bit and told Apter to just look at how big they are. How many teams can stack up to that? During the interview TAMMY STYCH and her HEARTBREAKERS, CHRIS CANDIDO and DR. TOM PRICHARD come out to ring down the champions. Sytch says that she wants to be the first to challenge these two and is sure that her men will avenge the fluke of a week ago. The four go chest to chest as GWF official break up any possible melee.
2) ILIO DIPAOLO beat MISSING LINK (w/TAMMY SYTCH) by DISQUALIFICATION @ 7:11 when he used a STEEL CHAIR SHOT.
Tammy announced that she loves all kinds of men, especially one's that need to be led around and she then introduced the Link. Dipaolo took the fight to the big man with strong right hands. Link reversed a whip into the buckle and landed a stiff headbutt to his chest. He then went for a FALLING HEAD BUTT and the Italian moved. As he got the up the Link was already outside the ring and has grabbed a steel chair. He swung it wildly and was able to hit Dipaolo before he could get his hands up to shield the blow. The ref quickly disqualified Link and Sytch was left trying to keep him under control.
INTERVIEW: BILL APTER is with the GWF World Heavyweight champion, "AMERICAN DREAM" DUSTY RHODES. He congratulates Rhodes and wonders who is first opponent will be. Rhodes doesn't care. He had to run through all types of wrestlers, the tallest, smallest, quickest and meanest and they can't stop the Dream. Bring'em on I'm ready.
3) THE REGULATORS ("TERRIBLE" TERRY FUNK & BOB ORTON SR.) beat DUSTY WOLFE & MR. X @ 1:34 when Funk pinned Wolfe after several PILEDRIVERS.
Funk was in a nasty mood and kept screaming the name of Dusty Rhodes as he beat his opponents senseless. He landed several ugly PILEDRIVERS to Wolfe and mercifully put and end to it and got the fall. He then layed an challenge out to Dusty Rhodes to meet him for the belt, You "yellow dog"!

1) FRANK GOTCH beat B.BRIAN BLAIR by DISQUALIFICATION when he shoved the official and continued his attack @ 13:03.
This bout was quite a surprise. Blair gave Gotch all he could handle after being dominated for several minutes. Finally, Gotch took a break to the outside and Blair followed. He layed in some heavy rights and kept the pressure on until, the ref got too close and Blair shoved him aside.
2) BOB ORTON SR. beat "LIGHTNING" MIKE QUACKENBUSH @ 7:43 with the PILEDRIVER.
Orton had loads of trouble with the superior speed of Quack. But, once he took the match to the floor the pace was more to his liking. He softened him up with a BACK SUPLEX and then hit his finisher.
3) "SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA & ILIO DIPAOLO beat THE HEARTBREAKERS (CHRIS CANDIDO & DR. TOM PRICHARD) (w/TAMMY SYTCH) when Dipaolo pinned Candido following the AIRPLANE SPIN @ 11:32.
This was a re-match from the tag team title tournament. The Italian star and the newly crowned North American champion had much better luck this time as they were able to evade Sytch's attempted interference to put away the cocky duo.
4) MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/BOBBY HEENAN) defeated TED DIBIASE with the SUPERSTAR CLOTHESLINE @ 4:33.
A surprisingly short match that saw the masked man in control. He caught DiBiase with a stiff clothesline and hooked the tights for good measure.
5) DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE pinned SAM HAYNE with the RUSSIAN LES SWEEP @ 8:51.
Hayne tried to attack DDP before the bell rang and was caught for his efforts. He had trouble recovering from the onslaught and it was Page floating over after a RUSSIAN LEGSWEEP to hook on for the win.
6) DAVID & KEVIN VON ERICH defeated IVAN KOLOFF & GEN. NIKITA BREZNIKOV when Kevin pinned Koloff with a BIG SPLASH @ 14:21.
Another re-match from the tag team title tournament. The Texas boys were fired up for this one. But, the Russian were up to the challenge. This was a back and forth contest and when Kevin reversed Koloff's turnbuckle whip, hit a back drop and then flew off the ropes into a Flying BIG SPLASH it was all over.
7) JOHNNY VALENTINE beat "COOL" CURT HENNIG with the ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER @ 6:12.
Valentine and Hennig went at it right as the bell sounded. Hennig had the SLEEPER locked in and Johnny was able to break into the ropes. A leap from the top that missed by Hennig turned the tide and allowed Valentine to execute two ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHERS.
-GWF WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH- 8) "AMERICAN DREAM" DUSTY RHODES (c) beat "TERRIBLE" TERRY FUNK with the FIGURE-FOUR LEGLOCK @ 17:02.
Funk attacked the champion before he could get his robe off. He was relentless and applied the SPINNING TOE HOLD early on several times. Rhodes was able to catch the ropes and hit a Lariat to change the tempo. Rhodes worked on the left leg of the cowboy and then went for the WEAVERLOCK. This brought out BOB ORTON SR. who jumped to the apron but was quickly knocked back down by a BIONIC ELBOW. This gave Funk an opening and after a low blow hit a SWINGING NECKBREAKER. The battle continued and both men were bleeding from cuts sustained. The end saw Rhodes duck a Funk clothesline and Dusty hit one of his own. As Funk lay on his back in the middle of the ring, he sinched in the FIGURE FOUR, as Funk had to concede.

GWF- REWIND (July 7, 2008 -July 22, 2008)
* The Global Wrestling Federation is off to a great start. All the major titles have been filled and the roster is just about where it should be for the time being.
*DUSTY RHODES went through a host of great competitors to win the GWF World Heavyweight tile but the man that won't go away so easily is long time foe, TERRY FUNK. Rhodes will have his hands full with a host of qualified contenders such as BOBBY HEENAN'S charges, HARLEY RACE and MASKED SUPERSTAR.
*The tag team championship is held by the unlikely combo of YUKON ERIC and DON LEO JONATHAN. It will be interesting to see if they can continue their hot run or if they are just a flash in the pan. Count on THE HEARTBREAKERS to chase them closely but they are just one team in a line that will start forming.
*FRANK GOTCH is quickly becoming the "silent assassin" in GWF. In a recent interview with BILL APTER he gave one word answers and when asked about why he presents his foes with a white towel before each match he just said, "It's an escape clause". Gotch is showing a mean streak to go with that superior mat ability.
*The upset of the year may have already occurred as GEORGE SOUTH had enough to put away DANNY DORING on the first epsiode of GWF TV. Doring has petitioned for a re-match as soon as possible and wants to redeem himself anywhere, anytime.
*Congratulations to JIMMY SNUKA as he is the first GWF North American champion. He'll be tested early by the likes of FRANK GOTCH and HARLEY RACE. We will see if the fan support can keep him motivated.

GWF-TV July 24, 2008 Norfolk, VA - The Scope
*BILL APTER heads the program and says that tonight's main event should be exciting as GWF North American champion, JIMMY SNUKA takes on the very talented and dangerous, FRANK GOTCH.
1) GEORGE SOUTH defeated MR. X by Disqualification when Danny Doring attacked @ 1:32.
South was soaking up the fan's cheers after last week's victory over Doring. He was out quick against the masked man and after hitting a DROPKICK, Doring quickly went to work pushing the ref aside and smashing South with a steel chair. He then laid the chair down and executed the G-SPOT SWEEP crushing his South's face into the hard steel. GWF officials tended to South as they chased Doring off who seemed pleased with himself.
*George South is injured for 8 cards
2) THE HEARTBREAKERS (w/TAMMY SYTCH) beat B.BRIAN BLAIR & "LIGHTNING" MIKE QUAKENBUSH when Tom Prichard pinned Blair after a SLINGSHOT SUPLEX @ 7:22.
Tammy's boys were on track most of the night. They used an errant whip into the buckle by Blair that knocked out the official. As Blair covered Candido after an AIRPLANE SPIN , there was no official to count. So as Prichard kept Quack busy, Tammy Sytch threw white powder in Blair's eyes. This gave Prichard a chance to hit the SLINGSHOT and as the ref came to he made the victory count.
3) IVAN KOLOFF (w/GEN. NIKITA BREZNIKOV) beat KEVIN VON ERICH (w/ DAVID VON ERICH) by DISQUALIFICATION @ 3:23.
The match quickly spilled to the floor and Koloff attempted to take advantage he slammed Von Erich into the ringpost. As he tried again, Von Erich reversed the whip and then caught Koloff in the IRON CLAW. He refused to let go as they stayed outside the ring and stopped for a moment to push the official away as David battled Breznikov on the outside. He then went right back to the hold. The ref had no recourse but to ring the bell.
-GWF NORTH AMERICAN TITLE MATCH- 4) "SUPERFLY" JIMMY SNUKA (c) beat FRANK GOTCH with the FLYING HEADBUTT @ 11:32.
Gotch was in the ring first and presented Snuka with his trademark towel. Snuka simply looked at and delivered a chop to Gotch's throat. The match was back and forth but Snuka's aerial skill changed the bout in his favor. He reversed a whip off the ropes and caught his opponent with a FLYING HEADBUTT that stunned him enough to get the three count.
