The action is moving quickly in MLW and I'm really looking forward to the Royal Rumble. Great win for Ox Baker on the EAWA card and I hope to see him do well in the Rumble. It was cool to see Jazz earn the spot opposite Penny Banner and Sherri Martel in the women's title match and what a huge upset with Buddy Rose & Jerry Lynn over the MVC

it is now time for the start of the Royal Rumble!

EAWA Dark Match: Finlay defeated Super Crazy
- Finlay won via his SHILLELAGH
Smackdown Dark Match: Iron Mike DiBiase defeated Koko B. Ware
- - DiBiase got the victory via his TOP ROPE KNEEDROP along with getting away with putting his feet on the ropes for extra leverage as the referee made the 3 count
RAW Dark Match: Jushin Liger defeated Val Venis - Liger won via his FISHERMAN'S BUSTER
Match #1: Hardcore Hodge defeated Cruiserweight Champion Tiger Mask, Pepper Gomez, and Sabu in a Fatal Fourway elimination match
- this opening match pitted Cruiserweight Champion Tiger Mask defending his title against a cruiserweight from each of MLW's 3 brands.
- Tiger Mask pinned Sabu via a twisting moonsault
- Gomez pinned Tiger Mask via MEXICAN CRADLE
- Hodge pinned Gomez via OKLAHOMA SIDEROLL
- as a result, Hodge is the new Cruiserweight Champion!
- this is the first MLW title for Hodge who ended Tiger Mask's impressive 15 month reign as Cruiserweight Champion which began back in October of Year 3.
In the Ring: ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta says it is now time for the tag team rumble and explains to/reminds everyone the way this rumble works is that both members of a tag team enter the rumble together and both members of the tag team have to be eliminated for the tag team to be eliminated.

- the two previously unannounced tag teams turned out to be the Sheepherders ans the Tolos Brothers who were both making their unannounced MLW debuts
- the early portion of the rumble featured EAWA's EAWA Tag Team Champions Miracle Violence Connection and Smackdown's US Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express battling it out furiously. After Dr. Death eliminated Lane, Cornette told the One Man Gang to push down the ropes as Dr. Death was heading toward them which led to the elimination of Dr. Death. Dr. Death and the One Man Gang then brawled their way toward the back.
- Gordy was eliminated by Reginald Love when Love's manager Jimmy Hart used his megaphone to distract Gordy
- the problems between Hutton and the Terrible Turk continued when the Terrible Turk accidentally eliminated Hutton and Hutton had to be restrained by a group of officials from reentering the ring to go after the Terrible Turk - the end came down to Valentine, Beefcake, and Rose all against Chris Tolos. - as a result of their victory, Valentine and Beefcake are going to Wrestlemania 4 where they will challenge the tag team champions of the brand of their choosing!
Match #3: Rick Rude defeated EAWA Champion Giant Baba (managed by Al Snow)
- despite Snow trying to rally Baba with the Head of Truth, Rude used a top rope sledgehammer to win the EAWA Championship!
- as Rude held the titles in his hands, suddenly the entrance music for Rude's enemy the Sandman was played and the Sandman appeared holding his Money in the Bank briefcase and gestured toward Rude with his SINGAPORE CANE and then nodded at his Money in the Bank briefcase to let Rude know he will likely be defending the title against the Sandman at the time of the Sandman's choosing.
Match #4: Ladies Champion Sherri Martel defeated Penny Banner and Jazz in a triple threat elimination match
- this match pitted Ladies Champion Sherri Martel defending her title against a women wrestler from both of the 2 MLW brands with a women's roster.
- Banner pinned Jazz via SUNSET FLIP
- Martel pinned Banner via TOP ROPE SPLASH
- as Martel climbs the turnbuckle with her belt held high to gloat at the fans, the TV announcers comment that so far at the Royal Rumble nobody has had a better night than Martel who, in a night when there has already been two title changes, managed to retain her title while the two wrestlers she manages, Valentine and Beefcake, won the tag team rumble.
End of First Third. Second Third posted next and includes MLW Champion Frank Gotch vs Jimmy Snuka, Mascaras/Brazil II: World Champion Mil Mascaras vs his best friend Bobo Brazil, and World Tag Team Champions the Road Warriors vs the Vachons in a feud-ending Hell in a Cell tag match!

A Cool start to the Rumble and it's good to see Finlay with the win in his EAWA dark match. Finlay hasn't done well in my Wrestling Edge Australia, so it's good that he's winning elsewhere. It's good seeing Rose last long in the Tag Rumble, but Valentine & Beefcake were the winners when all said and done. Wow! Rick Rude dethrones Giant Baba and now Rude has the Sandman nipping at his heels, Solid Stuff...

Too bad Val lost in the dark match, but I Liger is no slouch. Rude winning against Baba wasn't just big, it was inevitable. Sandman may end up with that cane in a very sensitive spot if he keeps pointing it at Rude.

thanks Crimson Cross and M T
Rude/Sandman has been one of my recent favorite feuds in my fed, the lady's man vs the hardcore beer drinker
I remember they were in ECW together for awhile, but I mostly seem to remember Rude feuding with Shane Douglas.
My knowledge of ECW is incomplete as I did not get to watch it on a regular basis in the 1990s. Out of curiosity did Sandman and Rude feud in ECW?

I do remember that Rick Rude in 1997 turned on Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman in a Steel Cage Match that saw Dreamer&Sandman face Sabu&RVD, but I don't think Rude went one-on-one with the Sandman...

- afterward, Mascaras insisted on personally awarding Brazil the World Championship himself as Brazil broke down and cried saying "Mil, you will always be my brother."
- The Brothers of Other Mothers (Brazil and Mascaras) now each have one win against each other. Will they have a 3rd and deciding match against each other later in Year 5?
Match #7: World Tag Team Champion the Road Warriors defeated the Vachons (managed by "Wild" Red Berry) in a feud-ending Hell in a Cell match
- a very violent heavily contested match that saw the Road Warriors have to survive a total of 10 pin/submission attempts and the Vachons survive a total of 11 pin/submission attempts before a winner was finally determined.
- at one point, Road Warrior Hawk and Butcher Vachon were brawling outside of the ring and Road Warrior Hawk picked up the ring steps and hurled them at Butcher Vachon. but Butcher Vachon ducked out of the way and the ring steps instead crashed into and knocked down a side of the Cell and Road warrior Hawk and Butcher Vachon temporarily left the Cell to brawl around the immediate outside area.
- the end came when the Road Warriors gave Mad Dog Vachon a double clothesline and then performed the DOOMSDAY DEVICE on Butcher Vachon who Road Warrior Animal covered for the pin to retain the World Tag Team Championship which they have held for the past 11 months.
End of Second Third. Final Third featuring the 40 man Royal Rumble match will be posted next!
