This is really shaping up to be solid PPV. TNA has actually done a really good job building to this event over the course of a good number of months.

I was not able to make it to the theater today to see Bound for Glory this year, but congrats to "the King of Sleaze" Joey Ryan on winning a TNA contract today!

I aint seen the PPV yet , its shown in UK on Wednesday . Great about Joey Ryan winning a contract . But Jeff Hardy winning the belt , really sickened and saddened me even more than when I heard Velvet Sky left .

- On Sunday, TNA Impact Wrestling once again teamed up with Screenvision, a leading innovator in cinema advertising and alternative content programming, to bring Bound For Glory to fans nationwide in over 100 theaters across the United States. The turnout, however, was disastrous.

According to the Wrestler Observer Newsletter, it is estimated that between 500 and 1,000 people nationwide attended the 100 theater showings altogether. These figures are way below previous TNA shows, and also below UFC shows. UFC ceased airing shows in movie theaters since it wasn't considered cost effective.


Last year I went and saw Bound For Glory in the theater. This year however, although that same theater here in Las Vegas was again showing it, I did not go see Bound For Glory.

I enjoy watching TNA as an alternative but they need to realize that they are not on the same level as WWE or UFC. This seems like a waste of money and the turnout if estimates are right is pretty sad and a reflection on how small their actual fan base is. They may be "number two" but they are a far distant "number two" and need to plan better. I say that, of course, knowing that they have access to a lot of money through Panda and can spend without reason so what do I know?

In the age of the wide spread availability of the internet, the model of Pay Per Views on television (and, in this case, theater screens) is antiquated. I think a semi-monthly format of special TV shows would bring in more revenue from advertisers than Pay Per Views, especially for TNA. Additionally, they would not lose goodwill from die hard fans who order the PPV and become disgruntled with the results.

I don't think they can freely spend money anymore given the thing about them having to re-tool contracts earlier this year so they can save money.

They suffer from absolutely terrible promotion for these things, too. They are shown in those theaters, but they are not advertised ANYWHERE locally as far as I can tell. When I went last year there were no ads in the local newspaper, no posters in the theater, and not even a start time on the marquee. The ONLY people who know about these things are diehard wrestling and TNA fans who saw it on their website or on one of the wrestling news sites that gave it a mention. It was like they were trying to keep it a secret.
