To celebrate the ending of my calendar work year, I flew to San Antonio for this weekend. Today, after visiting the Alamo and drinking beers on the river walk, I went to the ROH show in San Antonio and sat in the front row of Section D.
These are the results from the show I attended tonight:
The first match was a tag match involving local talent. I got lost trying to find the place and arrived just as this match was ending , so I didn't hear the names of these wrestlers.
Kyle O'Reilly defeated Mike Sydal
an impromptu match of Mark Brsicoe vs Steve Corino ended without a decisive winner when Jimmy Jacobs and Rhett Titus interfered and their opponents for tonight Michael Elgin and BJ Whitmer then got involved too.
Athena defeated Barbi Hayden in a Women of Honor match.
Eddie Edwards defeated Matt Taven in a proving grounds match to earn a future TV title shot. Perhaps it is because this was the first time I ever saw Taven wrestle live, but I thought this was Taven's best ROH match. Absolutely a really good match!
Jay Lethal defeated San Antonio's ACH. No surprise, but ACH got the biggest reaction from the San Antonio crowd. Another really good match although the crowd hated the ending when Lethal won via the LETHAL INJECTION.
After Intermision, what had been a red hot crowd cooled off considerably IMO and there were too many fans yelling stupid things.
Bobby Fish defeated Raymond Rowe who was another local Indy talent.
Roderick Strong defeated Adam Cole in another really good match.
Jimmy Jacobs and Rhett Titus defeated Michael Elgin and BJ Whitmer in a Texas tornado match.
Jay Briscoe defeated Davey Richards to retain the title. Damn good main event with my favorite spot being where Davey flipped over the front row barrrier and into the crowd on the other side of the ring.
Although not quite as good as a PWG crowd, the crowd was great in the first half and at times absolutely awesome.
At the merchandise table, I bought the DVD for The Last of McGuinness.
After the show, I got to meet Athena and she signed her card for me.
I had a great time in San Antonio today and this show is absolutely worth getting on DVD or streaming when it is available!
