It was great to see Rob Van Dam over Mil Mascaras for the championship, and I liked the somewhat disputed finish which should lead to a rematch. I agree with LH, Rikidozan vs. Nick Bockwinkel should be a great rivalry.

Thanks for the comments. Agreed that Rikidozan v. Bockwinkel looks like a classic on paper. There will be no rematch for Mascaras as his contract is up and he is moving on. The 2nd Fall Set came up in my random draw and Mascaras is a top rated card so his spot will be filled with a top card from that set... Tyler Black

Card 4 – Legends @ Spectrum – Philadelphia, PA – August 16, 2013
MsChif v. Sumie Sakai The fans seemed very excited to see MsChif in action but that likely speaks to the long history or Hardcore wrestling in the area. MsChif uses her power early on to gain the upper hand but Sakai weathers the storm nicely and clearly has her opponent frustrated. A missile dropkick sends MsChif to the floor where she grabs Sakai and drag her outside. MsChif whips Sakai into the ring post shoulder first and earns a disqualification. dud
Konnan v. Jerry Lynn Huge ovation from the Philly fans for Lynn as he makes his way to the ring. The action goes back and forth early on and then turns violent at ringside when Konnan runs Lynn into the ring post busting him open. Konnan then unleashes a vicious assault on Lynn in and out of the ring. Lynn is nearly counted out of the ring after a 187 on the floor! Back inside, Konnan power bombs Lynn. 1, 2, shoulder up. The crowd is electric as Lynn beings in comeback. With Konnan in trouble, Lynn climbs the corner but blood loss has slowed him down enough to allow Konnan to catch him and toss Lynn to the mat. A TEQUILA SUNRISE ends it. The fans loved this one.***
Tiger Mask v. Danny Hodge The fans give both men a solid ovation during the introductions/Puroresu ceremony and a handshake gets the action underway. Mask comes out strong and nails Hodge with a TIGER SUPLEX in the opening moments for a near fall. Mask has ringside rocking with a series of dives to the floor. Hodge is able to slow things down and grinds away on Mask with a series of Indian Deathlocks and Boston Crabs. Mask is able to turn things around countering an attempted choke slam. Mask hits the Space Flying Tiger Drop and the fans explode. Both men stager back into the ring and Mask hits his third TIGER SUPLEX on the bout for the win. Both men shakes hands and Hodge leaves Mask in the ring while the fans chant please don’t go and one more time!***
Bill Apter welcome Legends Champion Rob Van Dam to the Hot Seat. Van Dam is just getting started when Bobby Heenan comes out and confront the new champion. Van Dam and Alfonzo mock The Brain but suddenly Nick Bockwinkel comes out of nowhere and decks Van Dam from behind with a chair shot. Bockwinkel tosses Alfonzo to the floor and then rams the chair into Van Dam’s knee before applying a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK. Security arrives to break things up but the damage is done as Van Dam hobbles from the ring. Rick Rude, Eddie Gilbert & Masked Superstar w/Jimmy Hart v. Bob Armstrong, Tommy Rich & Brad Armstrong The First Family really work the crowd for some sold heat. Real solid match between these six men. All six men see action as the momentum goes back and forth. Gilbert gets in some trouble early on but the heels come back and get some heat on Brad Armstrong for a stretch. Superstar cannot put The Bullet away with a COBRA HOLD and the Armstrong is able to hot tag in his son to a solid pop. The faces control the balance of the bout and Rich gets the pin with a THESZ PRESS on Gilbert. Gilbert is not pleased with his teammates after the bell questioning where the pin save was but Hart tells him not worry. ** 1/2
Playboy Buddy Rose v. Tyler Black Rose gets on the mic and demands the Gary Michael Cappetta announce him at 217 pounds not 271. He then shows up his athleticism with a series of push ups while the fans jeer. The crowd is behind Black from the outset and he pays back the fans with an impressive performance early on including a full power PHONENIX SPLASH. Somehow, Rose gets a shoulder up and makes use a foreign object to get into the match. Rose however cannot put Black away with a BOMBS AWAY and Black mounts an impressive comeback starting with a brawl on the floor. Rose survives another PHOENIX SPLASH but a third gives Black a win in his Legends debut. ** ½
Mad Dog and Butcher Vachon v. Paul London & Brian Kendrick This battle of the young high flyers against the grizzly veterans was a classic. Mad Dog Vachon was cut off from his corner for the lengthy time to start the match with London and Kendrick picking up multiple near falls including a SLICED BREAD #2 by Kendrick. The momentum switched with Butcher Vachon leading the way for his team with a power attack including two HANGMAN. Kendrick saved London from defeat. The momentum went back and forth with both teams picking up near fall and using double teaming and pin saves to keep the match alive. The end came when Butcher Vachon London in another HANGMAN for the submission. *****
Nick Bockwinkel w/Bobby Heenan v. Rikidozan There is a Puroresu ceremony as part of the introductions and the fans show their respect with a solid ovation. Rikidozan had the fans behind him as he took the fight to Bockwinkel early on with chops and arm locks. Bockwinkel showed his countering skills against the Japanese Legend and maneuvered Rikidozan into a FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK but could not get the win. The match belonged to Bockwinkel from that point with only occasional offensive counters from Rikidozan. Bockwinkel finished the match with a BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER. **
Legends Tag Team Title Match – Fabulous Kangaroos (Roy Heffernan & Al Costello) w/Red Berry v. James Gang (Kip & BG James) The champions are out to serious heat tossing out cardboard boomerangs to the fans. Kip James struggles early on to get anything going and gives way to BG James while the champions look confident in their own defensive tags. Heffernan gets the advantage against BG James and traps him in a STEP OVER TOEHOLD. James is able to make it to the ropes to keep the match going. Heffernan maintains the advantage and mounts the corner for a deathjump but James rolls clear and Heffernan crashes to the mat. James quickly hooks the leg for the three count and we have new champions! [Cats eyes!]. The fans are celebrating as the Kangaroos look at each other stunned. *
News and Views: Congratulations to the James Gang on winning the Legends Tag Team Titles as the Fabulous Kangaroos suffered the same fate as Mil Mascaras dropping their titles in the their first title defence . . . What shape with Legends Champion Rob Van Dam be in when he steps into the ring to defend his title against his attacker, Nick Bockwinkel? . . Another vicious outing by Konnan tonight as he left Jerry Lynn in a bloody mess for the second straight time . . . The Vachons seem to be on the fast track to the top of the tag team contenders list . . . It seems that Tiger Mask has listened to the Legends faithful and has a signed a brief contract extension before planning to return to Japan.

The following bouts have been signed: • Playboy Buddy Rose will try and rebound from his loss tonight when he faces the Birdman Koko B. Ware in singles action • Mad Dog Vachon takes a break from tag team competition to square off against Jim Powers • United Kingdome competitors Johnny Saint and Nigel McGuinness will once again join forces to meet the Love Brothers in a rematch from Boston • Tiger Mask looks to continue his impressive winning streak when he takes on Bobby Shane • One of the hottest feuds in independent ladies action comes to the Legends ring as Team Blondage faces The Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew • The Armstrongs face First Family Members Masked Superstar & Rick Rude • Tommy Rich faces Eddie Gilbert one on one • Rob Van Dam will try to overcome his apparent injury in the main event when he makes his first Title Defense against Nick Bockwinkel.

Great card Booker! Good to see Black win in his debut. Bockwinkel vs Van Dam should be a war, Bock better not forget about Rikidozan. The Outlaws taking the tag straps was cool to see. Looks like a good night of action coming up in Allentown.

Thanks LH and Kamala for the feedback
Card 5 – Legends @ Agricultural Hall – Allentown, PA – August 23, 2013
Playboy Buddy Rose v. Koko B. Ware Rose demands that Gary Michael Cappetta announce him at 217 pounds and then shows off his skills with some gross looking jumping jacks. Rose is clearly not in the best of humour and assaults the Birdman from the opening bell. A foreign object blow sends Ware to the floor where Rose runs him into the ring post. Ware cannot recover and is counted out of the ring. Rose keeps up the attack after the bell but Ware somehow reverses a whip into the ring rails and mounts a comeback before brawling with Rose back to the dressing room. Dud
Tiger Mask v. Bobby Shane There is a short Puroresu ceremony before the action gets underway and Shane wants no part of drawing some sold heat from ringside. This bout was awesome. Shane proves to be the first competitor to really challenge Mask finding a way to counter the Japanese speedster’s attack. Trouble for Mask really starts when Shane catches him on the top of the corner and tosses him to the mat. Shane continually returned to his JAPANESE SLEEPER again and again which took a toll on Tiger Mask. Mask always found a way to escape or make it to the ropes and the action continued. Shane picked up a controversial count-out win when he cracked Mask with a loaded knee smash to the head at ringside and Mask could not regain the ring before the count of 10. ***
Nigel McGuinness & Johnny Saint v. Love Brothers (Reginald Love & Hartford Love) The fans give The Love Brothers little love as they make their way to the ring. The Love Brothers just add the heat when they jump McGuinness & Saint at ringside and the bout starts as a wild brawl on the floor. The British competitors are ready and Reginald Love eats the ringside table. It did not look like Reginald Love would last very long once McGuinness got him in the ring. McGuinness used a LONDON DUNGEON and JAWBREAKER LARIAT but Love managed to stay alive. The Love Brothers were able to cut off Saint from his corner but could only get one pin attempt before Saint made the hot tag. McGuinness & Saint dictated the pace for the most part with the Love Brothers getting the occasional upper hand with some double teaming. Saint picked up the win with The Russ Abott on Reginald Love. ***
Tommy Rich v. Eddie Gilbert w/Jimmy Hart Rich is incredibly popular with the fans especially with the ladies at ringside. Gilbert comes out very strong in this one and tries to end it with back to back HOT SHOTS in the opening minutes of the contest. Gilbert really stays in control until Rich counters a charge in the corner with a backdrop that sends Gilbert to ringside. Outside, both men tear it up and Gilbert cracks Rich with a chairshot earning a disqualification. Rich is a bloody mess as he is attended to at ringside. * ½
The Hot Seat with Bill Apter features an interview with Paul London & Brian Kendrick but they are interrupted by The Vachons who are demanding to be ranked higher by Apter’s magazines. Mad Dog Vachon shoves Apter starting a shoving match until security arrives to break things up
Mad Dog Vachon v. Jim Powers Maybe Vachon was distracted by what had just happened on the Hot Seat but Powers comes out with something to prove exchanging counters with Vachon and then picking up a near fall with a running knee lift. Vachon bails to the floor and Powers goes out after him running Vachon into the ring rails by the fans busting him open. The referee quickly makes the disqualification call. Both men then brawl their way back to the dressing room. *
Team Blondage (Amber O’Neal & Krissy Vaine) v. Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew (Lacey & Rain) These four ladies put on a display of tag team excellence from start to finish. Both teams were very evenly matched and the action went back and forth for a considerable stretch as all four ladies made crisp tags both on offense and defense to keep the momentum changing. Blondage is finally able to gain the upper hand against Rain and connect with a BLONDE BOMB but Lacey saves her partner. Lacey makes a second save after another BLONDE BOMB before Rain is finally able to counter a deathjump attempt and tosses Vaine to the mat off the top of the buckle. Lacey tags in and quickly downs Vaine with an IMPLANT DDT but this time O’Neal makes the save. Lacey maintains the advantage and works towards a second IMPLANT DDT. Rain blocks O’Neal and Lacey gets the three count. The fans give both teams a great ovation after the bell. ****
Brad and Bob Armstrong v. Rick Rude & Masked Superstar w/Jimmy Hart This bout was intense from start to finish. Bullet Bob Armstrong does insane colour following a brawl with Superstar on the floor very early in the match. Hart’s team continues to get heat on Armstrong for several minutes before Brad Armstrong is able to hot tag into the bout. Both teams have stretches where they dominate the action. Superstar survives Bob Armstrong’s SLEEPER and a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP by Brad Armstrong. Bob Armstrong kicks out after two RUDE AWAKENINGS to a monster pop. The end came with Brad Armstrong taking the fight to Superstar. Armstrong looks to have Superstar in trouble with an abdominal stretch but Jimmy Hart jumps to the apron distracting Armstrong and the referee. Superstar grabs Hart’s megaphone and decks Armstrong for the disqualification. The heels go to work immediately attacking both Armstrongs. Eddie Gilbert arrives to make it three on two. Brad Armstrong takes a triple team spike piledriver in the middle of the ring as Tommy Rich arrives with a chair in hand to break things up. Armstrong needs medical attention in the ring before being assisted to the back. ***
Legends Title Match – Rob Van Dam (ch) (inj) w/Bill Alfonso v. Nick Bockwinkel w/Bobby Heenan Van Dam comes to the ring with his knee heavily taped in an effort to stabilize his injury. The fans are on fire for this one from the opening bell. After trading moves Bockwinkel scores a quick near fall after a piledriver but Van Dam comes back winning a brawl on the floor. Back inside, Alfonso tosses in a chair and Van Dam connects with a Van Daminator to earn a disqualification. The fans hate the call and fill the ring with trash. dud
News and Views: A controversial night of action for sure with six out of the eight bouts ending with non-finishes including the main event . . . Bullet Bob Armstrong finds himself backed against the wall. First, his son was injured at the hands of the First Family in a viscous post match assault. Then, it has been announced that Tommy Rich and Legends management have been unable to come to terms on a new deal so Rich has departed the region. Armstrong now finds himself alone against The First Family. Who will join his battle against Jimmy Hart’s men? Will BG James lead the James Gang to battle with his father or will his own commitments at Tag Team Champion prevent him for joining his father cause? Will there be a new addition to the roster to take up the fight? Up Next, we head to The Fieldhouse in Hamburg, PA for another night of Legends action. The following bouts have been signed:
• Playboy Buddy Rose will look to make up for his loss last week against Tyler Black when he steps back into the ring with Black in a rematch from Philadelphia • Tiger Mask looks to get some payback against Bobby Shane • The contests between The Love Brothers and the team of Nigel McGuinness & Johnny Saint have been very competitive and the two teams will battle once again next week • Danny Hodge looks to finally get something going when he faces the difficult challenge of Rikidozan • Paul London & Brian Kendrick look to get one back against the Vachons • Jerry Lynn has brought out the worst in Konnan and they two will lock horns once again next week • In ladies action, Tina Moretti meets Joyce Grable • James Gang make their first Tag Team Title defence against former champions The Fabulous Kangaroos in the main event

What a wild show in Allentown, almost ECW like in it's violence. Tiger Mask vs. Bobby Shane sounded great and I liked Mad Dog & Butcher complaining about their ranking in the Apter mags.

I have decided the closed the doors of the Legends fed. The “contract” model was a failure for me. Just as an example the RVD rematch with Nick Bockwinkel was set to have a special referee who was going to be a returning Mil Mascaras. This would set up a series of bouts between the three men with the Legends Title in the middle. However, RVD contact was up and to me having him out of the picture suddenly took some of the fun out of the game. I could not play out the angle. I was not having fun anymore. Therefore, better to quit it and start fresh. Look for a new weekly fed starting up soon (without contract restrictions) but with representation from all of the legends sets. Thanks again to everyone who followed along over the past couple of weeks.
