It's good to see Tracy Smothers stay in the WWL, but too bad Liger & Quack could not capture the gold... I have to agree with Crimson. It was also cool to see Daizee Haze pull off a win over Sara Del Ray and The Crusher will certainly be out for revenge against Larry Hennig.

Card 15 – Cleveland, OH – The Arena, December 13, 2013
Leilani Kai & Judy Martin v. Tina Moretti & Simply Luscious Ladies tag team action gets things going tonight and Martin starts in against Luscious. Martin looking very impressive and forces Luscious to the floor with a face first suplex. Martin run Luscious into the ring rails by the fans and earns a disqualification. Martin and Kai are not pleased and give their opponents a beat down before leaving ringside to great heat. Time: 0:44 dud
Frank Gotch v. Trent Acid Interesting contrast of styles as the former WWL Champion Gotch battled one of the top high flyers. Great back and forth action in this one at the bell. Gotch nearly has the match won with a crossface and arm bar but Acid makes the ropes. Outside, Gotch goes into the ring post shoulder first. The referee lets them continue and Acid nearly gets the upset win with an ACID BOMB. Back inside, Gotch gets tangled in the ropes and Acid attacks with a series of blows. The referee steps in but Acid shoves the referee to the mat and continues his assault. The bell sounds and we have back to back disqualification finishes. Acid is not happy and he takes out the referee with a Yakuza Kick before leaving the ring. Time: 1:47 * ½
Hillbillies (Cousin Luke & Hillbilly Jim) v. Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon The fans always have fun when the big men from south are on the card. Jim starts out against Butcher Vachon and quickly locks in a BEAR GUH for a near submission. Luke keeps the momentum going with a HILLBILLY DROP but Vachon kicks out. Luke immediately follows with a second HILLBILLY DROP. Jim cuts off the pin save attempt and that match is over. Time: 0:34. *
Rob Van Dam w/Bill Alfonso v. Antonio Inoki There is no Puroresu ceremony tonight but there is ton of international media at ringside as the match gets underway. This one had the fans on their feet from start to finish. Van Dam control the early action with a series of moonsault and high impact offense Inoki refused to go down kicking out of several pin attempts. Inoki made his comeback giving Van Dam a taste of his own medicine with a chair shot across the back and later running Van Dam into the ring post busting him open. There was a great visual late in the match with Inoki trapping a bloody Van Dam in a bow and arrow with blood streaming out of Van Dam wound. Alfonso is able to cause a distraction saving Van Dam from a cobra twist but Inoki would not be denied tonight and scored the three count with an ENZUIGURI. Time: 2:57. *** ½
The Hotseat is up next with Bill Apter and special guest the returning Elegant Eddie Fyne who comes out with WWL Champion Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and Iron Mike DiBiase. Fyne tells the fans that he has come to Cleveland to set a few things right. First Iron Mike was going to finally take care of the Japanese insect Jushin Liger once and for all and then the fans were going to have the honour of watching the WWL Champion destroy “the hick” Smothers in the main event. Apter asks about the whereabouts of Bob Orton Sr. and Fyne snaps at Apter that it is none of his business. Rogers then cuts a promo on Smothers telling the fans the sign on the marquee says wrestling. Tonight’s match will not be one where you tied together by a chain like couple of animals. It is a wrestling match tonight, Smothers will find out what everyone here already knows and that is the Nature Boy is the best wrestler in the world.
PG 13 (Wolfie D & JC Ice) v. The French Connection (Kevin Steen & The Mountie) PG 13 make their first appearance since October and have the fans support tonight. The team from Canada has the clear size advantage but PG 13 make up the difference with their speed and double teaming attack. The momentum goes back and forth in this one from start to finish with both teams having moments of domination. J.C. Ice lights up the fans when he smashes Steen with a trashcan lid. Steen survives a TILT-A-WHIRL half way through the match. Steen ends up in the ring against J.C. Ice and unleashes a series of power moves the leads to a PACKAGE PILEDRIVER. The referee makes the three count but the time expires at two. Time: 5:00 ***
Iron Mike DiBiase w/Eddie Fyne v. Jushin Liger The international press pack ringside once again for this contest. There is short Puroresu ceremony before the bell. Liger was like a man possessed early on this one and absolutely dominated the action. A FISHERMAN’S BUSTER should have ended it but Fyne was able to distract the referee. DiBiase kicked out after a top rope huracanrana and manages to get something going but Liger kicks out after a TOPE ROPE KNEE DROP. Fyne again saved DiBiase from a second FISHERMAN’S BUSTER this time actually getting into the ring to distract Liger. The referee lets the action go and Liger eventually gets the win with a third FISHERMAN’S BUSTER. Time: 3:17. **
Londrick (Paul London & Brian Kendrick) v. Heartbreak Xpress (Sean Davis & Phil Davis) The fans are all over the Xpress as they make their way to the ring. London uses his speed to control the early action against Sean Davis. Phil Davis can do no better and soon gets cut off from his corner. Kendrick picks up a couple of near falls and then doubles up on Davis with a double team suplex. London then immediately follows with a 450 SPLASH for the win. Time: 1:42. *
WWL Title Match: Tracey Smothers v. Buddy Rogers (ch) w/Eddie Fyne Rogers tried to jump his challenger before the bell and that plan quickly went south. Smother rammed Rogers into the ringside table and was off the races. Smothers unleashed an offensive flurry that had the fans roaring and the champion reeling. Twice Smothers hit a JAWJACKER but could not get the three count. Smothers just kept coming and Rogers always found a way to avoid defeat. Rogers was able to finally get something going and he rammed Smothers’ knee off the ring post drawing great heat. Smothers was noticeable slower the balance of the match but still brought the battle to the Nature Boy. Late in the contest, Smothers caught Rogers on the top of the corner and tossed the Champion to the mat. Smothers then mounted the corner himself but the Nature Boy countered the deathjump with a boot to the face. The action went back and forth but a series of jumping knee smashes to Smothers’ leg took their toll and Rogers used a FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE to retain. Time: 4:47. *** ½

A great card in Cleveland, Bookerbill. I loved the Smothers-Rogers and PG-13-French Connection bouts. I also enjoyed the Hillbillies getting a big win over the Vachon's.

Heartbreak Xpress (Phil Davis & Sean Davis) v. PG 13 (JC Ice & Wolfie D) The action started before the bell when the Xpress jumped their opponents at ringside but things did not go well for the Xpress as Sean Davis went into ringside table. Back inside, Davis countered Ice’s deathjump with a boot to the face and tagged in Phil Davis. PG 13 was able to make their own defensive tag and then stunned Phil Davis with a TILT-A-WHIRL for the three count. Time: 0:26. *
Tyler Black v. Exotic Adrian Street w/Miss Linda Street draws great heat as he makes his way to the ring. Street looks very good early on and has Black on the defensive for much of his WWL debut. Black survives The Daffodil and a CRUCFIX before rolling clear of a deathjump attempt sending Street crashing to the mat for a near fall. Black shows off his offensive abilities but Miss Linda trips him up from the floor. The referee sees the infraction and calls for a disqualification. Time: 2:08 * ½
Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jim Cornette v. Brad & Bob Armstrong Cornette is the master at drawing heat and has the fans fired up before the bell. The Armstrong control the early action and the fans love it. The Armstrongs pick up a near fall on Eaton after a knee life from Bullet Bob Armstrong but the momentum turns and Brad Armstrong gets cut off from his corner. Lane works Armstrong over in and out of the ring and then connects with a SUPERKICK for the win while Eaton blocks Bob Armstrong from making the save. Time: 2:26. **
10 Man Battle Royal – Larry Hennig, The Crusher, Hillbilly Jim, Frank Gotch, Ed Lewis, Rob Van Dam, Antonio Inoki, Brodie Lee, Mad Dog Vachon and Tracey Smothers It is crazy from the outset. Hillbilly Jim traps Ed Lewis in a BEARHUG but Lewis battle free and then backdrops Jim to the floor for the first elimination of the bout. Rob Van Dam and Antonio Inoki square off in the middle of the ring. Van Dam hits the Van Daminator. Inoki cannot recover and his dumped from the match. The battles continue around the ring. Mad Dog Vachon charges Frank Gotch but the Peerless One is ready and backdrops Vachon to the floor. Larry Hennig and The Crusher tear into each other in and out of the ring. Hennig is busted open at ringside off the ring post and The Crusher then dumps his foe from the bout with a clothesline. Van Dam turns his attention to Tracey Smothers and uses a standing moonsault to set up a FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH. Smothers and then easily tossed to the floor. Ed Lewis traps Gotch in a STRANGLER’S HEADLOCK and grinds away until Gotch cannot fight off being eliminated. The Crusher battles Lee in the corner and traps him with a stomach claw before dumping him over the top rope. Van Dam and Lewis battle in the opposite corner. Lewis whips Van Dam into another corner and charges in but Van Dam is ready and backdrops Lewis from the match. Van Dam catches a winded Crusher with a series of kicks and then connects with a FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH. Crusher goes over the top rope and your winner is RVD! Time: 1:35 (based on average of each round) *** Nature Boy Buddy Rogers and Eddie Fyne are on the Hot Seat with Bill Apter once again and Rogers starts to rip into Rob Van Dam telling the fans that he is sick of being asked when is he going to face Van Dam. Rogers once again reminds the fans that this is a wrestling ring not a circus and Van Dam make leap and jump and kick but he won’t be able to do any of that once he is trapped in the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. Bill Alfonso leads Rob Van Dam to the ring and WWL Champion stands nose to nose with his new number one contender while the fans roar. The fight starts and security quickly jumps in to break the two men apart.
Jim Powers v. Sabu w/Bill Alfonso Powers has the fans support at the bell but Sabu sets the early pace with an Air Sabu. Sabu misses a TRIPLE JUMP MOONSAULT and Powers immediately capitalizes with a POWER SLAM for a 2 ½ count that thrilled the fans. The match goes to the floor and Powers goes into the ring post. The referee calls for the disqualification. The fans boo the decision and Sabu has he heads to the back. Time 0:51 dud
Mildred Burke v. Daizee Haze Both ladies are greeted with a good reaction from ringside. Although Haze had a few moments to shine in this one, the action was dominated by Burke from the outset. Haze manages to kick out of an early SUNSET FLIP but a second one ended a near perfect match from Burke. Time: 1:56. * ½
WWL Junior Heavyweight Title Match – Austin Aries (ch) v. Brian Kendrick No one gave Brian Kendrick any chance in this one after Aries dominated their last encounter and Aries did look very impressive early on in the contest using his power advantage to maintain the upper hand. Aries was never able to get Kendrick in a pinning position and Kendrick drew on the fans support and mounted an impressive comeback. Aries proved tough to beat as he kicked out of back to back SLICED BREAD #2s. Kendrick kept his emotions in check as the action when in and out of the ring and then connected with third SLICE BREAD #2 to win the Title. Great effort and a great win by Kendrick. Time: 2:24 ** ½
WWL Tag Team Title Match – Nigel McGuinness & Johnny Saint (ch) v. Mike Quackenbush & Jushin Liger We get a lengthy Puroresu ceremony before the match that the international press at ringside eats up. The fans are buzzing at the outset of this one and the action does not disappoint. Saint gets himself in some early trouble but manages to avoiding being pinned before stunning Liger with a JOHNNY SAINT SPECIAL to gain a near fall of his own. McGuinness is the MVP of this bout and he shows some aggression not shying away from battling on the floor. A short arm lariats rock both Liger and Quackenbush at various points in the action. Liger and Quackenbush both manage to escape LONDON DUNGEON. Late in the bout, Saint counters Liger’s deathjump with a boot to the face and McGuinness gets the tag into the action. McGuinness hits a JAWBREAKER LARIAT and gets the three count on Liger while Saint stops Quackenbush from making the pin save. Time: 5:46 **** ½

An awesome card in DC with the tag title match on top plus Kendrick winning the junior title from Aries. I also like the build for RVD vs. Buddy Rogers.
