Thanks everyone for the feedback!
Card 01 – Bridgeport, CT – The Arena - September 6, 2013
Hot Stuff International (Eddie Gilbert, Wolfie D & JC Ice) v. Tracey Smothers, Hillbilly Jim & Cousin Luke The Hillbillies and Smothers are out to a solid reaction and have the fans stomping and dancing. They carry that momentum into the match will all three men working over the members of PG 13. Gilbert is able to tag in against Jim and slows him down with a pair of figure four leglocks. Cousin Luke tags in but cannot get anything going. Gilbert runs him into the ringside rails and earns a disqualification. Both teams carry on the fight after the bell with the faces getting the best of their foes much to the delight of the fans. Time: 3:11 *
Larry Hennig v. Jim Powers The fans are behind Powers as he makes his way to ringside but Hennig attacks Powers on the floor drawing great heat. Powers is ready and gets the best of Hennig connecting with a chairshot across the back. Powers manages to avoid Hennig’s attack for the most part and then stuns the fans with the three count after a spinning neckbreaker (ch). Huge upset. Time: 0:43 *
Vachon Brothers (Mad Dog Vachon & Butcher Vachon) v. Iron Mike DiBiase & Bob Orton Sr. This match featured some great tag team wrestling from both sides. Both teams exchanged counters and defensive tags to perfection from the outset with no clear advantage. Mad Dog finally broke through against Orton and planted him with a PILEDRIVER for a near fall. The match went to the floor and Vachon was disqualified for running Orton into the ring side rails. Both teams brawled their way back to the dressing room. Time: 1:49 * ½
Sensational Sherri Martel v. Jazz Jazz unleashes a nearly flawless attack against Martel both in and out of the ring but she proves to be too aggressive when she refuses to release Martel from the ropes and earns herself a disqualification. The fans are not pleased with a third disqualification finish in four matches. Time: 1:02. Dud
Bill Apter hosts the Hot Seat with special guest Rob Van Dam. Van Dam receives a huge ovation and entertains the crowd pointing to his shoulders for the RVD chant. Van Dam is in the process of telling us he will be the first World Wrestling Legends champion when the lights go out. There is subtle panic from the fans at ringside and when the lights come back on Apter is down in a heap and Sabu is brawling with Van Dam! The lights go out again and there is more unrest from the fans. With the lights comeback on Sabu is gone and Van Dam is also down on the mat with chair beside him. Trent Acid v. Jushin Liger There is a short Puroresu ceremony before the match that barely keeps the fans attention. However, the action soon grabs the fans attention as both men move at an incredible pace as they exchange lighting fast counters, kicks and strikes. Liger gains the upper hand and nearly gets the submission with a hanging surfboard. The action goes to the floor and Acid runs Liger into the ring post and we have yet another disqualification finish. Liger comes back and brawls with Acid after the bell. Time: 2:08 **
The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane) w/Jimmy Cornette v. Bob Armstrong & Brad Armstrong There is plenty of history between the Armstrongs and Jim Cornette as they bring their southern battle to the north. Great action in this one from bell to bell. Bob Armstrong gets himself in trouble but manages to survive a ROCKET LAUNCHER before getting the hot tag to his son. Brad Armstrong cannot put away Eaton even after back to back RUSSIAN LEG SWEEPS and the action continues until the Express get The Bullet segregated again and get the win with a VEG-O-MATIC. Time 3:58 ****
Nigel McGuinness, Johnny Saint & Mike Quackenbush v. Austin Aries, Kevin Steen & Brodie Lee The fans were still buzzing from the last contest and the momentum carried right into the next match. McGuinness was a force in this bout dominating in the ring especially early on against Steen. Twice the native of Quebec was able to escape a LONDON DUNGEON. Saint, Quackenbush & McGuinness really functioned well as a unit keeping a fresh man in the ring and preventing their opponents from tagging. Quackenbush rocks the fans with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker on Lee and then McGuinness finishes Lee off with a LONDON DUNGEON. Time: 2:20. ***
Frank Gotch v. Ed “Strangler” Lewis There was going to be no dropkicks or flying head scissors in this one. Gotch is able to avoid a foot sweep and then immediately goes for the submission with a crossface and arm bar. Lewis is able to get to the ropes but Gotch then moves directly to a GOTCH TOEHOLD. Lewis has no counter and the match is over in three moves! Time: 0:19. Dud

Great debut Bookerbill. I am not sure who gets the bigger WOW, Powers for beating The Axe or Gotch for beating the Strangler in three moves. Looking forward to more action, this card was top notch.

Excellent debut Book and Jim Powers over the Axe is huge, but the match between Acid & Liger sounded awesome and I'd like to see a rematch one day...
