2013.12.27 – Great Canadian Wrestling, Harmony Hall, Oshawa, Ontario - “Season’s Beatings”
Incoherence (Ultramatis Black, Frightmare & Hallowicked) v. Throwbacks (Sugar Dunkerton & Dash Hatfield) & 2 Cold Scorpio
The fans really enjoy the antics of the Throwbacks. Dunkerton, Hatfield and Scorpio function well as a unit and manage to cut off Frightmare from his corner early on but the GRANDSLAM DUNK does not get the win. Frightmare kicks out after a GRANDSLAM from Hatfield and then tags in Black turning the momentum. Dunkerton survives a PRAYING MANTIS BOMB before being able to hot tag in HATFIELD. Black kicks out after a GRANDSLAM but a GRANDSLAM DUNK proves too much as Scorpio and Hatfield block the pin save. **
Juan Francisco De Coronado w/Man Servant Herbert v. The Hobo
Great contrast in ring introductions with De Coronado drawing huge heat has he takes his time making his way to the ring and preparing for the match. Coronado dominated the early action but Hobo managed to survive a CORONANDO CLUTCH and soon the Hobo Train was running and the fans ate up the comeback. Hobo rubbed his ring jacket in the face of De Coronado and it looked like De Coronado might vomit much to the pleasure of the fans. Back in the ring however, Coronado was able to regain his composure and get the win with a second CORONADO CLUTCH. * ½
Tag Team Title Match - Nick Madrid & Johnny Yuma v. Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) (ch)
The Bucks have held tag team gold around the world and really looked impressive early on against their less seasoned opponents. Madrid managed to kick out after a MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK and the fans really began to get behind Yuma and Madrid. Some excellent spots from the top rope in this one as the match wore on. These teams got plenty of time and eventually Nick Jackson found himself cut from his partner. He managed to survive Yuma’s sex factor but Madrid kept the momentum going and picked up the submission with a scorpion deathlock (ch) to win the titles. **
Tim Donst v. El Generico (Chik)
Generico is immensely popular with the fans but there is not much to cheer about early on in this one as Donst looks unstoppable from the outset. Generico takes a huge beating but manages to survive a SDT. There is a referee bump that sees the official out for ten and Generico makes his comeback. Donst fights off two BRAINBUSTAAAHHH!!! before Generico finally hits his finisher but Donst kicks out at the count of two and the fans cannot believe it. The match evens out and we get more and more brawling. Outside, Donst grabs a chair but Generico wrestles it away and cracks Donst. The referee calls for the disqualification. The fans are all over the referee as Donst stumbles his way to the back with a victory in hand. **
Mike Quackenbush & Jigsaw v. Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky
Epic….From the outset it was obvious that the fans were in for something special from these four competitors. Quacksaw dominated early on working over both Sky and Ryan at various points. Sky and Ryan just refused to go down. Sky survived a QUACKENDRIVER II and then Ryan survived a JIG ‘N’ TONIC from Jigsaw. Quackenbush got two on Ryan after his own Jig ‘n’ tonic. The fans were biting at every near fall and were exhausted by the time Ryan and Sky finally got going. Ryan hit Jigsaw with WALK-OFF for a near fall and then punished Quackenbush with Nuff Said. Sky hit Quackenbush with two Argle Bargles and the action continued with both teams making key defensive tags. Quackenbush wore down Ryan with a Chikara Special that received a solid tap chant and then hit a Quackendriver III for a two count followed by a deathjump cross body block for a two and ¾ counts. With the fans on their feet and roaring, Quackenbush ended it with a QUACKENDRIVER IV on Ryan. Electric crowd and a near perfect match. The final pin totals were Jigsaw 7, Quackenbush 6, Ryan 12 and Sky 9. *****
National Title Match - Bryan Danielson (ch) v. Adam Cole (CZW) w/ Mia Yim
The crowd is still really hot and we get a massif yes chant at the start of this one. Danielson responds by dominating his challenger from the opening bell. Cole is able to break CATTLE MUTILATION by making the ropes and the two struggle on one of the corners before Danielson shoves Cole down to the mat. Cole again uses the ropes to escape a TRIANGLE CHOKE but a second CATTLE MUTILATION gives Danielson the win. * ½
