Pretty sure it's a given that we will see Sting in a WWE ring at some point, if for nothing else than his farewell match. BUT, given what seems like a desperate need for something or someone to spark fans' attentions(& let's not kid ourselves, sell Network subscriptions) do you guys think there is any possible way we might actually see the Stinger return to the ring on a somewhat regular basis? And against whom?

I don't think it'll be on a regular basis but the WWE has a Sting DVD coming out in September (I think) so he'll probably show up to promote that and get drawn into a match or two.

Psyched for the DVD, here's hoping for a documentary and not just 3 discs of matches...
As for a return to the ring, it seems like Bray Wyatt is settling nicely into something of a "legend killer" role these days & he can't fight Jericho forever...

Just saw online...the best of sting to be released 9-23. 3 discs, mostly matches, no documentary. Oh well.

The documentaries are normally my favorite part. I'm hoping his match with Ric Flair from Clash of the Champions, his falls count anywhere match with Cactus Jack, and his match with Lex Luger against the Steiner brothers is on it.

no i don't see him coming back as a regular. Problem is who do you book him against? Not the Undertaker now. Can't see him vs. Lesnar. Maybe HHH ?? that might work. Perhaps Kane? They could book him in special matches like 3 or 4 times a year against guys who are on a roll , but maybe not at the top of the card.

Yeah, I figured HHH might be a candidate too.

The docs are ALWAYS my favorite part...I just hope they don't put alot of matches that have already been released, as I'm pretty sure that I saw Starrcade 97 vs. Hogan is included, as is the final Nitro match vs. Flair, both of which are already available, which is why including a documentary is a big selling point with this consumer.

I just listened to the Jim Ross podcast with Sting today, so he's on my mind.
I just don't get this crap with everyone clamoring for a Sting vs. Taker match at WM31, and this "double retirement match" that keeps getting mentioned. To me it's a slap in the face to Taker. I'd rather see a Lesnar rematch or Cena taking a stab at the dead man (just for the hell of it, now that the streak is done).
Sting was my favorite wrestler as a kid but once they screwed up the angle at Starrcade '97 with that Dusty finish, I just lost interest in him (and never got into the Crow character anyway). Seriously, what did he really ever do after that? Nothing really. He just got bounced around in meaningless, easily forgotten angles.
I'm in the camp of "10 years ago this would've been cool, but now, meh". He should've came to WWE when he was still somewhat relevant. Now it's just too little, way too late. I'll still think it's cool to see him on WWE TV, but it won't be nearly as exciting as it could've been a decade ago.
Back to Taker. If you were Taker (and let's say he was 100% going to be at WM31), wouldn't you be downright pissed if Vince or Hunter said "Hey, we know you've got this incredible legacy, but we're going to have you share your retirement match with someone who has never wrestled a single match for this company. You cool with that?" If you were Taker you would knock them out instantly for such disrespect. it's one thing to end the streak, but to ask him to share his retirement match with Sting would be really low.
Now, I'd be all for Sting-Taker at WM31 as long as it could be guaranteed that Taker would wrestle at WM32 so he can have his swan song for himself, but with Taker's health you just never know. I'd be all for Sting having his one and only WWE match at WM31 against Hunter, Orton, Wyatt, Kane, etc. though. Just not Taker in a double retirement match.
Oh, and to agree with some of you, yes, I love the documentary DVDs too.
