Morning: read quote from HHH where he states he doesn't believe in pretending the past didn't happen while explaining Kenta, Devitt and Steen using their "real" names.
Afternoon: HHH posts a photo of himself, with Kenta, Devitt and Steen.
Evening: Kenta debuts on NXT and proclaims that "he" would like to be known as "Hideo Itami".
Can't wait to see whom Devitt and Steen would "like" to be known as...

History doesn't let you trademark the names, I guess.

I suspect we can thank Phillip Brooks and his lawyers for the name change. I wouldn't be surprised if no one will keep the name they came in with (except Sting, of course).

Sort of on this topic:
I wonder how much of Steen being signed has to do with how much merch he moved on the independent level.
I am a big Steen fan and believe he is a great talent, but most would probably agree that he isn't what the WWE typically looks for (physically) in a superstar.
I'm just thinking that the E sees him selling a bunch of shirts and thinks he'll do the same for them; who cares if he's a good wrestler. He has a big indy following a'la Daniel Bryanson, and they think his fans will follow him to the Universe and spend money.
I don't know. Just a thought.
