Following the lead of MLB (and of course the inevitable debating afterwards) who would my fellow promoters choose as the Franchise Four of the following wrestling promotions?
WWE WCW / NWA ROH TNA
My choices are as follows: WWE: Sammartino, Hogan, Austin & Cena (tough choice for me)
WCW / NWA : Race, Flair, Sting & Hogan (sorry, but he put WCW on level ground for the soon to follow "War")
ROH: Daniels, Danielson, Styles & Homicide (easiest list to compile for me)
TNA: Jarrett, Styles, Jeff Hardy & Angle (toughest list yet)

My list is very close to what lucifer has. Strangely enough, both being ROH fans, that's where we don't see things eye to eye. ha ha WWF: Bruno, Hogan, Austin, Cena NWA: Flair, Dusty, Sting, Road Warriors ROH: Samoa Joe, Danielson, Briscoes, McGuinness TNA: Jarrett, Styles, Hardy, Angle

yeah I can't see not having the Briscoes unless you're avoiding tag teams. They've been there so long and Jay especially has been such a major part of things.

Tough to pick only 4...probably why I disagreed with so many of MLB's choices...

I'm no fan of Hogan, but when he signed with WCW, the game was changed forever, much like Angle going to TNA. And I knew the name Bryan Danielson LONG before I ever watched ROH, for example. Same kinda goes for me picking Homicide. Love these types of debates, by the way, mission accomplished!

There are a couple of other names you could add to WWE (Backlund, Rock, Michaels) but I went with the four I thought had the greatest impact. There are so many NWA names you could put in there that I sorta went with the WCW years. Your point about Hogan is well taken btw. With TNA always being a mess in terms of consistency I had to go with Styles and Jarrett just for longevity in the company. I wouldn't say any of them "carried" the company because it has never really been carried. Ha ha. ROH was the easy on for me Joe, Danielson, and McGuinness had epic runs as champion. And in the period between Danielson's reign and Nigel reaching his stride, the Briscoes were booked on top. Gabe has said it himself that they were the top guys in the company at that time.

This is an excellent discussion and I'm having a great time watching it unfold... I won't even pretend to have enough knowledge of professional wrestling to contribute, but couldn't an argument be made for Undertaker... He pretty much carried the company through its lean pre-Attitude era... Just a thought... To prove how little true insight I have, I would pick Raven for TNA... Just because... So there...

I agree with Pariah that this is a great topic and discussion. Here are my picks and it was very tough. MLB also did one seperate from the teams and if we had one I would add Andre the Giant to it. I had a tough time leaving Andre off of the WWE one but the first three were no brainers for me and The Rock has had so much high profile success both in and out of WWE it was hard not to put him on the list.
WWE: Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock
NWA/WCW: Ric Flair, Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Sting
ROH: Bryan Danielson, Samoa Joe, Mark & Jay Briscoe, CM Punk (eliminate Punk if Briscoes' count as two)
TNA: Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Bobby Roode

Just feels like he belongs...
