Preamble
This is a GWF fed starting in 2087 that will be centered largely around newspaper-style articles to advance a lot of the out of the ring stuff.
The basic gist: A shadowy group blows up the current title picture and basically hits a big reset button, with Omega taking the brunt of the blow to his ego for being the elder statesman on watch when Thantos does Star Warrior dirty.
Super original, I know, but it gets me off the ground and I take it to some different places.
There’s a ton of stuff I wish I had done differently before I started doing this:
-- Not starting in 2087, even though I’m only running 24 cards to get to 2088 as fast as possible. I’m really twisting my mind around some storylines here to keep it fresh, and I might bring some 2088 guys in a little early.
-- Not running so many matches on my first card. Woof. Keep it simple, stupid.
-- Keeping my match descriptions a little tighter. I went ham on some of these because I got into the matches, but a lot of them ultimately don’t mean as much as others, and I hope you guys will kinda catch on to that as we go along.
Some notes:
-- I'm not real heavy into the GWF lore, but I don't want to completely throw the handbooks out the window. There may be some inconsistencies, but I'm trying to do a good job about it.
-- There are some liberties taken with the rulebook at times, but nothing so seriously egregious that it flaunts the point of the game with the dice rolls controlling the action. I was told that it was up to me, Promoter (!) So it shall be.
DEIMOS -- The galaxy may never be the same.
In an unprecedented move, the Galaxian Wrestling Federation’s Chamber of Wisdom delivered a unanimous ruling yesterday to cut off the current direction of the company from its storied past.
The 9-0 ruling included a ruling that vacated all active championship titles and developed methods to decide new champions.
“The state of the GWF is such that we wish to no longer have it be affiliated with a product we were infinitely more proud of years ago,” a Chamber of Wisdom spokesman said yesterday.
Thantos, the Evil Gamesmaster, violated the Galactic Code recently, sending the GWF into turmoil that has since changed the landscape that was once a battleground for homeworld supremacy.
The two united, warring camps that sprung out of the ashes of the Code have the Chamber of Wisdom concerned for the GWF’s future and, in turn, its overall historical value.
Omega of Cetus, the GWF’s creator and former Galaxian champion, was brief in his reaction to the ruling.
“I am disappointed in the Chamber of Wisdom’s decision,” Omega said in a remote press conference this morning, “but I am more disappointed in my inability to control the wrath of the Galaxian Villains.”
The Chamber of Wisdom requested that the former champions not be recognized in any form, including the Deimos Daily Comet, until further notice.
The Chamber has yet to announce what the methods of finding new champions will be.
“We do not know yet if this process will be successful,” the Chamber of Wisdom’s spokesman said, “but the main concern as of now is to distance the past from the present.”
Card No. 1, Early Jan. 2087
MAIN EVENT: Star Warrior vs. Comrade Terror
Omega vs. Executioner
Greek Gods vs. Gladiators
Commander Sam vs. Thantos
Society of Death vs. The Flying Titans
Wolf vs. Exo-King
Massif vs. Death Knight
Killer Queen/Vanity vs. Renegade/Beast-Rider
---
Killer Queen/Vanity vs. Renegade/Beast-Rider
Beast-Rider got rope breaks on several CHECKMATE attempts but can’t get to Renegade for the tag, CHECKMATE, Beast-Rider submits -- Renegade opted not to go for the save, assuming that Beast-Rider would want to finish Killer Queen himself.
RESULT: Killer Queen and Vanity def. Renegade and Beast-Rider (Killer Queen made Beast-Rider submit to the CHECKMATE)
Massif vs. Death Knight
Death Knight found himself as a victim of a VOLCANIC DROP early, but was able to kick out.
After being sent outside of the ring, Death Knight suckered Massif into a slam on the outside with the referee distracted.
Death Knight took his time waiting for Massif to recover before delivering the COSMIC LANCE, but Massif was simply too powerful to be dropped with a single blow.
If anything, Massif was angered by the disrespectful gesture.
Massif went to the outside himself and was able to drag Death Knight out with ease, slamming him into a steel post.
The lenient referee allowed the move and, with the crowd on its feet, delivered a second VOLCANIC DROP, dispatching Death Knight.
RESULT: Massif def. Death Knight via the VOLCANIC DROP
Wolf vs. Exo-King
After seeing his prey take an impressive victory, Exo-King looked to equal Massif’s accomplishments with a win over the ultimate predator, Wolf.
An early skullcrusher from Exo-King resulted in Wolf caught in a pinning predicament. Wolf was able to kick out easily, but seemed rattled.
Wolf’s nature made him quickly rally, however, and after an impressive backward leg-sweep, Wolf went to the top for a falling knee drop.
Exo-King was laying out as a trap for the erratic Wolf and avoided the deathjump, quickly covering Wolf for a shocking three count.
RESULT: Exo-King def. Wolf after a missed knee drop
After the match, Wolf accosted the referee before rabidly screaming at Exo-King, who was showing self-righteous pride in the impressive victory as he made his way to the teleporter.
Six-Man Tag Match
The Society of Death vs. The Flying Titans
The Invincible Krakan certainly seemed that way in this match, dominating every member of the Flying Titans he came across.
Though Mutant and Ghengis Khan had less success, the damage had been done and when a weakened Pit Viper came in to bail out Pulsar, Krakan finished the job in an impressive victory for the Society.
RESULT: The Society of Death def. The Flying Titans (Invincible Krakan pinned Pit Viper following the FALLING FACE SLAM)
Krakan promised fans of Galaxian Heroes that they would be sorely disappointed if they discounted the Society of Death.
Commander Sam vs. Thantos
Thantos dominated his bout early before Commander Sam rallied back.
However, not even an Earth-born can survive repeated running clotheslines and Satanic Skull Smashers and Sam’s body eventually gave out in a sleeper hold, one of Thantos’ many deadly holds.
RESULT: Thantos def. Commander Sam with a sleeper hold
Wolf appeared on a holo-screen and, despite the pleas of Greek God and tenuous aquaintance Proteus, Wolf demanded a match with Thantos to prove that Exo-King’s victory was a fluke. “I’ll prove that I can take out The Evil Gamesmaster himself,” Wolf said. Thantos offered Wolf a chance at him if he can defeat The Executioner. Thantos promised that he’d be in The Executioner’s corner to make sure he got a good look at Wolf.
Greek Gods vs. Gladiators
Massacre dominated Proteus early, but a tag out to Actagon changed things quickly -- a clothesline and a reverse piledriver sent Massacre to the mat before Brute even got a chance to get into the match!
RESULT: Greek Gods def. Gladiators (Actagon pinned Massacre after a reverse piledriver)
A livid Massacre wanted to prove his worth in the Gladiators and challenged Actagon to a one-on-one match at the next card which Actagon immediately accepted!
Omega vs. Executioner
Omega, still looking down-trodden after the announcement by the GWF Wise men, was nevertheless determined to best the Executioner. Despite his best efforts and his ability to counter Executioner, Omega was simply outmatched. After leaving the ring to catch his breath following a choke in the ropes, Omega returned to the ring to beat the count and found himself on the wrong end of a HEADSMAN GUILLOTINE.
RESULT: The Executioner def. Omega via HEADSMAN GUILLOTINE
After the match, Death Knight appeared via holo-screen and told Omega that the two will meet at the next card!
Comrade Terror vs. Star Warrior
Terror was on the offensive early and often in this match, nearly pinning Star Warrior after a brutal reverse knife-edge.
However, the adulation from the crowd gave Star Warrior the will to survive a barrage of attacks from Terror before finally gaining the upper hand.
Warrior was able to hit the NOVA LAUNCH but Terror was still too fresh. A second NOVA LAUNCH still couldn’t do the job, but had clearly done a number on Terror.
Looking battered and bruised, Warrior hit Terror with a reverse piledriver for a three count that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
RESULT: Star Warrior def. Comrade Terror
After the match, Star Warrior celebrated with his fans and left Terror licking his wounds.
Quick results:
-- Killer Queen and Vanity defeated Beast-Rider and Renegade via submission (Killer Queen>Beast-Rider)
-- Massif defeated Death Knight with the VOLCANIC DROP
-- Exo-King pinned Wolf after a missed knee drop
