ECW
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
ECW Arena
Card #1
The crowd is wild with "ECW!" chants as the camera opens on Paul Heyman.
"Ladies and gentlemen, as you know my name is Paul Heyman and I am the president and founding father of ECW. The time has come for a new era in professional wrestling and that means it's time to return to the land of EXTREME! Tonight we will decide not one, not two, but three championships right here at House Party 97'. And it will be done as it always has been - no count-outs, no disqualifications to a positive finish! But before we start tonight's festivities let me hand the microphone over to the only man who could ever truly be the voice of ECW - Joey Styles!
Styles is brought out to wild applause. He seems a bit embarrassed but he smiles, shakes hands with Heyman and goes into his usual opening.
"Oh My God! Hello everyone and welcome to House Party 97'. I'm Joey Styles and for the next few hours here in beautiful, downtown rustic Philadelphia, Pennsylvania you have been invited to a celebration of extreme! Now as Paul Heyman said we have three title matches scheduled for this evening and -"
Styles interrupted by The Triple Threat - "Franchise" Shane Douglas, Chris Candido, Tammy Sytch, and Dan "The Beast" Severn. The fans are not pleased as Douglas takes the microphone.
"Styles. You make sure to tell these fans that the ECW World Heavyweight champion is here! In a few short hours I will fulfill my destiny and walk out of this building with that gold belt. It's nothing but a mere formality. It will happen and there's nothing that Raven can do about it, or Tommy Dreamer or even Rob Van Dam. That gold will be mine. Just like in the World Television Title Match, my good friend Chris Candido will take that gold belt as well and there isn't anything that his opponents will be able to to do about it. And this man to my left is the toughest fighter on the planet in any discipline today. Dan Severn is a legend in the world of Mixed Martial Arts and he's so feared and so respected that no one will even face him. As of right now he has no opponent for tonight's show. So if anyone is feeling like they want a trip to Philadelphia General get in this ring and meet your master."
A smaller man dressed in a bright workout outfit, and headband holding a bodybuilding trophy walks down the aisle and says he wants to wrestle. Douglas smiles, laughs and just says, "Good Luck jabroni".
1) Dan "The Beast" Severn defeated "6% Body Fat" Rob James with the WAKIGATAME @ 2:15.
-This match was a total squash dominated by Severn.
2) Mikey Whipwreck & Jerry Lynn defeated "Dastardly" Danny Doring & Amish Roadkill when Whipwreck pinned Roadkill with a Tornado DDT @ 8:55.
-Whip and Lynn were very effective with quick tags and high powered offense. All four men hit the ring and Lynn took out Doring over the ropes. After a Huracanrana off the top, Whipwreck put the Lancaster native out.
3) Super Crazy pinned Roderick Strong with a TRIPLE MOONSAULT @ 15:05.
-An excellent back and forth encounter. Crazy was able to withstand Strong's repeated backbreakers and pushed off his attempted superplex. He quickly sprung into the Trifecta moonsaults and gained the hard earned win. After the match Strong demanded a hand shake. Crazy reluctantly did so and Strong leveled him with a clothesline. A few stomps for good measure and Strong left the ring.
4) Sabu defeated Al Snow (w/Head) when used the CAMEL CLUTCH @ 18:51.
-These two knew each other very well from years of battling in the independents. Snow went to smash Sabu with his "partner" The Head and instead ate a few punches to the jaw. After a buckle whip and Air Sabu, the wildman locked in the dreaded clutch towards the middle of the ring. Snow had no choice but to concede.
-ECW World Tag Team Title Match-
5) The Backseat Boyz (Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere) (w/April Hunter) defeated The Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge & Rocco Rock) when Kashmere pinned Grunge with CRADLE BREAKER @ 11:35.
-Rocco grabbed the official to prevent the count and tossed him to the floor after the T-GIMMICK. Another official came out and told him that the match would continue. Rock then used a foreign object to gain control. He then went up top for the Moonsault that missed. Kashmere kicked him thru the ropes and then hit the cradle breaker to secure the belts.
-Singapore Cane Match-
6) The Sandman beat Justin Credible with a HARDCORE DDT @ 16:05.
- A bloody brutal match. Both men were bleeding and had chances to win. The end saw Sandman land a DDT after several whacks to the skull with the rattan cane.
-Three Way Dance- ECW Television Title Match-
7) "Old School" Steve Corino defeated 2 Cold Scorpio & Chris Candido (w/Tammy Sytch) when Corino pinned Candido with the Victory Plex @ 21:15.
-Candido is nearly out and Scorpio is moving in to finish him off while Corino is out in the corner. Tammy jumps on the ring apron trying to get Scorpio's attention. Candido then recovers and nails Scorp with a Tiger Bomb. He gets only a two count. Corino is up now and grabs Candido, again Tammy jumps on the apron. Candido goes to whip him against the ropes an Corino reverses it and send him crashing into Sytch. Corino then hits the Victory Plex to gain the title. After the match Candido and Sytch are bickering over who's fault it is that led to the pin.
-Fatal Four Way- ECW World Heavyweight Title Match-
8) Rob Van Dam (w/Bill Alfonso) defeated "Franchise" Shane Douglas, Raven (w/Stevie Richards) & Tommy Dreamer when Van Dam pinned Dreamer for the FIVE-STAR FROG SPLASH @ 33:15.
-Dreamer cleared the ring much to the delight of the crowd. He grabbed Raven who low blowed him. He then hit the EVENFLOW DDT but before he could make a cover he was hit with a BELLY TO BELLY by Douglas. Van Dam broke up the pin by Douglas and tossed him thru the ropes to the floor. He then sprung to the top and landed on a prone Dreamer to get the title.
