At one point, Rogers backdrops Race to the floor but pays the price when he comes out after his opponent when Race runs him into the ringside table spilling its contents and officials to the floor. Race controls but cannot get the pin after a series of vertical suplexes so he changes tactics going after the lower body with an Indian Deathlock. Rogers makes the ropes to escape but Race goes back to the hold for the submission win. In an upset, Ron Hutchison thrilled the fans with a disqualification victor over “Iron” Mike DiBiase. The early action belonged to DiBiase but Hutchison was able to catch him on the top of the turnbuckles and slam him to the mat in a crowd-pleasing spot. Hutchinson’s scientific attack gave DiBiase some trouble and they ended up brawl on the floor where DiBiase rammed Hutchinson into the ringside table which was enough for the official to make the disqualification call. Diamond Dallas Page pinned Redd Dogg. The fans enjoyed Page’s entrance coming through ringside and over the barrier to get to the ring. The action was tightly contested early on until Dogg stepped up his attack with a clothesline and ring shaking spinebuster. Choke on the ropes had Page stunned but with the fans supporting him Page countered back with a Russian leg sweep that knocked the wind out of Dogg. Page followed with a second one which was enough to get the three count.

However, it is enough to set up a Greco-Roman Backdrop giving Thesz the quick victory and eliminating Rogers from the tournament.

News and Views: Once again the crowing of a champion tops the news coming out of Scarborough as Buddy Rogers made the best of the opportunity presented to him by the Championship committee by besting nine other competitors to win the main event Battle Royal and claim the Commonwealth Championship. Rogers appeared to be in serious trouble of slipping deep into the rankings after failing to defeat Harley Race last week in a number one contenders match and now finds himself with championship gold around his waist . . . If the partnership between Masked Superstar & King Kong Bundy was on thin ice after last week’s action, it completely imploded tonight with Bundy mistakenly eliminating Superstar from the Battle Royal before the two big men brawled their way to the back. It will be interesting to see which of these competitors earns the support of the fans when they finally meet one on one in the ring . . . Blackjack Mulligan was reportedly furious after his loss to Redd Dogg tonight tearing apart the heel dressing room and earning himself a fine in the process.

Next week, the two teams will clash for the third time in a rubber match. Another victory for the Fantastics will solidify their position as top contenders to the title another decisive loss will move them to the back of the line. • The partnership between Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy has imploded over the last two cards and now the former partners will clash in a battle of heavyweight • In the main event, Canadian Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz defends his title against number one contender Harley Race. In Windsor the two men battled for the Title and Thesz came away with the gold but not before both men went to war. Their rematch promises to be a classic.
